Chapter 18 The Old House Collapsed

Laoliangzhuang is two hours away from Yushutun by mountain road, and on the way you pass a mass grave area.

This place is covered with snow in the winter, and it looks white, but it's not that scary.

If you come here at other times, you can occasionally see collapsed old graves. Not only can you see broken coffin boards and dead bones, but also many snakes, insects and ants crawling out of them, which can scare you to death.

Yunxiu followed her mother-in-law Wang Caigu on this journey once, and was left with a psychological trauma. She never wanted to take this path again.

But now that Zhao Wei insisted on taking her with him, she had no choice but to go.

However, in this world, the most frightening things are never the dead, but the living.

No one had expected that there was a person hiding in this pile of graves, and he jumped out with a "whoosh".

"Hey! Stop!"

"Wow! Who are you and what do you want to do?" Zhao Wei took a step back inconspicuously and touched his waist.

The man in the cotton hat waved his hand sheepishly: "Oh, don't be nervous. I just happened to pass by and got lost. I just wanted to ask you for directions."

"I'm sorry, I was a little impatient just now, I hope I didn't scare you!"

Zhao Wei laughed: "I wasn't scared at all, I just thought I was a robber."

Well, if the other party had explained a step later, his knife might have already stabbed the other party's forehead.

After all, what good person would jump out in this way?

The man complained speechlessly.

"Alas... I came to Wangjia Village to look for my relatives, but after walking for a while, I still didn't see the Wangguan Temple that my family members mentioned. I happened to come across a three-way fork in the road, and I didn't know which way to go. I've been waiting for an hour, but I didn't see anyone. I'm so anxious."

This person seemed to be in a real hurry, and his way was quite lost.

"You're going the wrong way. When you reach the fork in the road ahead, you should take the other side."

"Hiss... I didn't see any three-way fork when I came here. I only saw two... Am I blind? Can't I even recognize one, two, and three?"

The man was in self-doubt, and it was obvious that being lost had caused him to become somewhat of a nervous wreck.

Zhao Wei patiently explained: "I saw it when I came here. There are very few people walking on the other road. It is covered with snow. If you are at ease, the two of us can lead you to find the right way."

When the man heard this, he was so moved that he almost cried. He stepped forward and shook Zhao Wei's hand: "Thank you, you are such a good person!"

Good guy cards cannot be given out randomly. Zhao Wei is a little allergic to this. After all, this word has been overused in later generations.

Seeing that this man was quite interesting, Zhao Wei did not mind the trouble and took him back the way he came. After sending the man to the right path, he said goodbye.

This was just a small episode in his life and he soon put it behind him.

When he arrived at his grandfather's house in Laoliangzhuang, what he saw made him heartbroken.

The old house suddenly collapsed before dawn. According to the neighbors on both sides, the old grandfather was seriously injured, his leg was broken, and he is currently in the home of a local doctor in the village.

Because there was no money for treatment, the old grandfather was almost dying in pain. Everyone heard his screams and were discussing how to donate money to him.

Now that he knew that Zhao Wei was the old grandfather's biological grandson, he handed over the three dollars, fifty-seven cents he had saved.

"Young man, although this money is a little less, saving lives is important, so you should keep it first."

"The local doctors in our village can only treat headaches and fevers. Not only is your grandfather's leg broken, it seems that he has also developed other old illnesses. You should find a way to send him to the hospital in the city as soon as possible. Don't delay."

Upon hearing this bad news, Zhao Wei was immediately annoyed. He shouldn't have dawdled on the road. If he had known this would happen, he would have rushed here as soon as possible no matter what.

At the same time, I was also moved by the kindness of these villagers. There are still good people in the world, and not everyone is like the evil family like the Zhao family with a bad family tradition.

After thanking the doctor profusely, the couple rushed to the doctor's home, where they saw a fierce middle-aged woman standing in the yard with her hands on her hips, pointing at her parents and grandmother and cursing at them.

"Do you still have any shame? You can't treat him without money. Just take him away. Do you hear me? Don't make me angry!"

"This is not a charity. We have done our best for you. You must not push your luck."

Zhao Wei's parents and grandmother were penniless and could only beg there in a very humbly manner. Even though the other party's words were so unpleasant, they had to swallow their grievances and continue to beg.

"Please, ma'am, my old man is old, I'm afraid... I'm afraid he won't make it."

"Please be kind and help me treat my injured leg. We will keep the amount of money owed to you and we will never default on it."

The woman refused outright, "No, if everyone follows your example and starts to owe us money, how can we survive?"

Then he added a sarcastic remark: "People without money have their own way of living. Everyone has his own destiny. It's all predetermined by fate. Don't force it."

As he said this, he ordered the people at home to carry the injured person out of the yard at all costs.

His actions were very rude and might even cause secondary harm to the grandfather.

Zhao Wei was so angry that he rushed in.

"Let him go! Whoever dares to touch him will be punished!"

When Wang Caigu saw Zhao Wei coming, her eyes suddenly turned red.

"Son, what should we do? Your grandpa..."

Then she kept beating her chest: "It's all my fault. I'm useless, I'm unfilial, I'm a sinner!"
