Chapter 10 Gu Shijing Confession

Liu Yanran's leg injury wasn't serious, but what she hadn't expected was that Gu Shijing would come to visit her every day, bringing her all sorts of gifts. Today it was milk powder, tomorrow it was eggs, and the day after tomorrow it was fruit... Liu Yanran couldn't help but wonder if he had used all his salary and allowance this month to buy these things for her. And today, he brought her a pheasant, saying it was caught by his younger brother in the mountains behind. Yes, that was the younger brother Gu Shijing had mentioned about preparing for the college entrance exam. He was actually only fifteen years old and still in the third year of junior high school.

Because of the injury, Liu Yanran has been picked up and dropped off by her second brother recently, but every time she goes home, she can see the things that Gu Shijing has sent her.

This unusual situation not only alerted her mother, Cao Cuilan, but also her eldest and second sisters-in-law, who had experienced it before. Even her second brother, Liu Guodong, began to realize that something was amiss.

Oh, you asked why my eldest brother didn't know about this? Because he was out on a mission and wasn't home for the time being. However, he expected to be back by the time our daughter was one month old.

Gu Shijing was Liu Guodong's deputy battalion commander. They usually had a good relationship, but they had never interacted so frequently. The second brother realized that Gu Shijing was probably not simply concerned about his sister's injury, but had a deeper meaning, perhaps he had developed special feelings for his sister.

The second brother thought to himself, "I treated this guy like a brother, but I never thought he'd want to be my brother-in-law!" Although Gu Shijing was young, at only 24 years old, he was already serving as a deputy battalion commander, and he was indeed a young and promising talent. But his sister Liu Yanran had just turned 18 and would continue to attend college in the future, and Gu Shijing's impatience was really hard to accept.

As a result, the second brother became increasingly dissatisfied with Gu Shijing, often deliberately causing trouble for him during training, and even sending him on long and difficult missions. However, what the second brother did not expect was that just before Gu Shijing was about to leave, he did not hesitate to find the younger sister and confessed his love to her face to face.

Liu Yanran blushed with shame after hearing Gu Shijing's confession. She had actually suspected that Gu Shijing might have feelings for her, but after all, this was a relatively reserved age, and this straightforward way of expressing herself surprised her. Furthermore, they hadn't met that often, so how could things develop so quickly?

She looked at the sincere Gu Shijing in front of her, her heart filled with emotion, but at the same time she felt a little flustered.

"I... I don't know how to respond to you, Brother Gu. I haven't thought about love yet... Besides, I'm still young and I want to focus on my studies first... Besides, I don't even know you yet!" Liu Yanran stuttered, with a hint of nervousness and uneasiness in her voice.

Gu Shijing listened quietly, his eyes revealing determination and persistence. He took a deep breath and slowly said, "Yanran, I know this may be a little sudden for you, but please give me a chance to let you get to know me. My name is Gu Shijing, and my family is simple. My father was originally a worker in a machinery factory. He died of illness three years ago. Later, the job was transferred to my sister Gu Shimiao, who is 21 years old and has already married in her hometown. My mother is in poor health, so I took her to live with me to take care of her. I also have a younger brother, Gu Shiyuan, who is 15 years old this year. He is studying and is also with us in the military region. He has good grades and will definitely be admitted to a good university in the future. Yanran, believe me, if we are together, I will never stop you from studying. I will wait for you."

Gu Shijing's tone was sincere and genuine, as if he had completely exposed his inner world to Liu Yanran. Liu Yanran listened quietly, a flicker of surprise and emotion in her eyes. She had never imagined that this seemingly strong man had such a family background and such a sense of responsibility. His love and dedication to his family gave Liu Yanran a deeper understanding of him.

However, despite this, Liu Yanran still felt a little hesitant and confused. She knew that she had a good impression of Gu Shijing, but was this feeling enough to support a relationship? She was still young and had a long way to go in the future. She didn't want to make the wrong decision because of impulse.

So she took a deep breath, raised her head, looked straight into Gu Shijing's eyes, and said softly: "Brother Gu, thank you for your honesty. But I really need time to think and to make up my mind. I hope you can understand my thoughts." After that, she gently broke free from Gu Shijing's hand.

Gu Shijing looked at Liu Yanran, a hint of disappointment flashed in his eyes, but he still nodded, "I understand, Yanran, I will give you time. No matter how long it takes, I will wait for you."

Liu Yanran nodded slightly, "Well, thank you, Brother Gu."

Gu Shijing smiled and said, "Then I'll go first. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions."

He turned and left, leaving Liu Yanran standing there with a thousand thoughts in her mind.

Liu Yanran stood there quietly, gazing into the distance, as if lost in deep thought. Her eyes revealed a kind of confusion and entanglement, as if she was trying to sort out the emotional entanglements in her heart.

After a while, she sighed softly and turned to leave. Her steps seemed a little heavy, as if she was carrying a huge pressure. As she walked, she recalled her conversation with Gu Shijing, and a complex emotion surged in her heart.

She knew that Gu Shijing's feelings for her were genuine, and she also had a certain fondness for him. However, she was not sure whether this fondness was enough for her to accept his love. She needed more time to think and make up her mind.

Back home, Liu Yanran sat by the window, quietly looking at the scenery outside. Her mood was still a little confused and she couldn't calm down. She thought of the little things she had experienced with Gu Shijing in the past, and those beautiful memories came to her heart, making her feel warm and happy.
