Chapter 123 Fang Ling Confession

Liu Yanran is a studious girl who has already passed the first level of English, German and French in her freshman year. This is an amazing achievement for many people, but for Liu Yanran, it is just the starting point of her pursuit of excellence.

Entering her sophomore year, Liu Yanran, not content with her current academic record, decided to challenge herself by taking Japanese and Korean. She understood the importance of mastering multiple languages, especially in today's increasingly globalized world. So, without hesitation, she plunged into her new studies.

Every morning, when the first rays of sunlight streamed into the courtyard, Liu Yanran was already sitting at her desk, beginning her day's studies. Although she had a solid foundation, she never slacked off.

She listens to Japanese and Korean listening materials and takes notes diligently. During lunch, she takes advantage of the short break to continue reading related books and materials. In the evenings, she participates in language exchange activities organized by the school, interacting with students from different countries and improving her oral communication skills.

After a period of hard work, Liu Yanran's Japanese and Korean skills have improved significantly. Not only can she hold daily conversations fluently, but she can also read some simple articles and books. She also actively participates in various language exams and competitions, achieving excellent results.

Throughout this journey, Liu Yanran encountered her share of difficulties and setbacks. Sometimes, she felt exhausted by the overwhelming pressure of studying; other times, she was frustrated by poor pronunciation or grammatical errors. However, she never gave up, constantly adjusting her mindset and striving to overcome difficulties.

To better master her new language, Liu Yanran devotes considerable time every day to studying. She listens carefully, takes good notes, and reviews promptly after class. She also uses her spare time to read relevant books and materials to broaden her knowledge. Furthermore, she actively participates in various language practice activities, such as speaking corners and translation competitions, to improve her language proficiency.

Originally, Liu Yanran had planned to get a few days of good sleep during the National Day holiday. However, plans never catch up with changes. On the very day of National Day, Liu Yanran received the news that Fang Ling was dying, and she was extremely anxious.

Fang Ling was a soldier. When they last parted, he had told her he was going on a mission and that he would have something to say to her after completing it. Liu Yanran, a 21st-century woman with a keen eye for emotions, could easily sense Fang Ling's feelings for her.

But her heart has long belonged to Gu Shijing, and although Fang Ling is also a handsome soldier, her emotions always tend to be towards Gu Shijing. However, in order not to affect Fang Ling's mission, she chooses not to reject him directly for the time being.

"Did Fang Ling encounter any danger during his mission?" Liu Yanran muttered to herself, her heart filled with worry and uneasiness. She knew that as a soldier, Fang Ling often faced dangers and challenges, but this time the situation seemed more serious than ever.

Old Master Fang sent a car to pick up Liu Yanran. She prepared her medical equipment and took the Nine Revolutions Resurrection Pill as a backup. Then she hurriedly followed the person who came to pick her up to the hospital. Seeing Fang Ling lying on the hospital bed, his face pale and lifeless, she felt a mixture of emotions.

Fang Ling's injuries were extremely severe, with almost no intact part of his body. The tendons in his hands and feet had been brutally severed, clearly indicating that he had endured prolonged and brutal torture.

The work they were doing was inherently risky. Despite the era of reform and opening up, China was still not strong enough, and many spies were still lurking within the country. Therefore, to identify the spies, the country dispatched a group of well-trained soldiers to carry out undercover missions abroad.

These missions were extremely difficult, and if they were discovered, the consequences would be disastrous. As expected, Fang Ling was discovered by the enemy while performing a mission, but fortunately, there seemed to be one of their own who tried every possible means to rescue him.

At this moment, Fang Ling was already extremely weak, his breathing so weak that he looked as if he could die at any moment. Old Master Fang's eyes were red, filled with heartache and helplessness. He clenched his fists tightly, his nails digging deep into his palms, as if he had made up his mind to make a difficult decision.

He took a deep breath, looked at Liu Yanran, and said, "Yanran, no matter what, you must find a way to wake Fang Ling up first!" His voice trembled slightly, but his eyes were resolute. "He's the only undercover agent we sent out who has successfully returned. Now, the country urgently needs to obtain important intelligence about the enemy from him. This is related to the safety of the entire country."

Liu Yanran frowned slightly. She knew the difficulty of this task very well, but she nodded firmly. "I understand, Grandpa Fang. I will do my best."

Old Master Fang nodded and continued, "Even if we can't save his life in the end, we must ensure that he passes on the intelligence. National security is above all else. This is our responsibility and mission." His voice was low and powerful, revealing an unshakable belief.

Liu Yanran was shocked. She knew what this decision meant. Fang Ling might have to sacrifice his own life for the safety of the nation. What a great sacrifice! But she also understood that this was their responsibility and obligation as soldiers.

"Don't worry, Grandpa Fang. I'll do my best," Liu Yanran replied firmly. She turned and walked into the ward, cooperating with Fang Xu to treat Fang Ling.

As soon as Liu Yanran entered, she fed Fang Ling the Nine-Turn Resurrection Pill, but Fang Ling's condition did not improve. Finally, there was no other way, so Liu Yanran started to give him acupuncture, just as Grandpa Fang had said, to wake him up first!
