Chen Erhe walked in front of Liu Jiakang with a swagger, then stopped, with a half-smile on his face and eyes full of contempt and provocation.
The corners of his mouth rose slightly, with a sarcastic smile on his face. He deliberately raised his voice and shouted loudly: "Hey, isn't this Liu Jiakang! I heard that your family is having a wedding today?" His purpose was obvious, which was to let everyone around them hear their conversation and attract everyone's attention.
Liu Jiakang stood there quietly, his expression indifferent and calm. He stared at Chen Erhe with cold eyes, and responded in a firm and steady tone: "Yes, our family is having a wedding today." Although he was dissatisfied with Chen Erhe's arrival, he did not want to make things too complicated or intense, so as not to destroy the harmonious atmosphere of the wedding.
However, Chen Erhe did not seem to intend to give up. He smiled triumphantly and continued to say provocatively: "Haha, congratulations! But why can't I see the bride? Is she too ugly to show her face to others?" As he spoke, he deliberately looked around, pretending to be looking for the bride, which attracted the attention of the people around him and stared at them curiously.
Hearing this, a flash of anger flashed across Liu Jiakang's eyes, but he forced himself to suppress the rage. He knew now was not the time to argue with these people, so he took a deep breath and replied as calmly as possible, "My wife is naturally beautiful, but she is busy entertaining guests right now and cannot come out to meet us."
However, Chen Erhe did not give up. Instead, he mocked Liu Jiakang: "Hahaha, Liu Jiakang, stop bragging! Everyone knows that your family is extremely poor. His words were full of provocation and insults, which made Liu Jiakang extremely angry.
Liu Jiakang clenched his fists, his anger simmering within him. He longed to rush over and teach this despicable man a lesson, but reason told him not to act rashly. After all, today was his wedding day, and a conflict here would only ruin the festive atmosphere. Furthermore, he didn't want his wife to suffer any harm or injustice. Chen Erhe was frightened by Liu Jiakang's aura and was momentarily at a loss. But he quickly regained his arrogant attitude and sneered, "Hmph, Liu Jiakang, do you think you can scare me like that? I'm not afraid of you!" Then he turned to the crowd behind him and shouted, "Look everyone, this is Liu Jiakang, the self-righteous guy! Who does he think he is? How dare he disrespect me!"
Chen Erhe's instigation resonated with his brothers, and they all echoed: "That's right, Liu Jiakang is nothing! His family is so poor, and he still wants to marry a beautiful wife. It's simply a pipe dream!" These words were like sharp swords, deeply hurting Liu Jiakang's heart.
Faced with the mockery and ridicule, Liu Jiakang was filled with anger and frustration. He knew they were there to laugh at him and didn't care about his feelings. But he couldn't help but retort, "Don't judge by appearances. Although my family is poor now, I believe that with hard work, we will have a good life in the future. My wife and I will work together to create a happy life for ourselves." His words were filled with confidence and determination, moving everyone. If his family hadn't told him not to be too loud, he would have wanted to throw his bankbook in their faces.
However, Chen Erhe and others did not care about Liu Jiakang's explanation. They continued to mock him, "Tsk, that sounds nice! Wait until you can really live a good life! Now you are a pauper, and you still want to pretend!" Their words became more and more unpleasant, making Liu Jiakang feel extremely humiliated and angry.
At this moment, Liu Jiakang's father, Liu Dahai, came over. He was heartbroken to see his son being bullied. He quickly walked up to Chen Erhe, straightened his back, looked at them with a firm gaze, and said, "Chen Erhe, please stop making things difficult for my son. Today is his big day, and you should be blessing him instead of making trouble here. If you are here to drink at the wedding, then of course we welcome you, but if you don't have any intention of congratulating him, please go back!" His tone was firm and serious, and people could feel his majesty as a father.
Chen Erhe saw Liu Dahai appear, and a look of disdain crossed his face. He raised his lips slightly, sneering, "Uncle Dahai, your son is ignorant, and you, as his father, don't care? I think your family just doesn't know what's good for them. You still dream of a good life? Dream on!" His words were filled with sarcasm and provocation, igniting Liu Jiakang's anger once again.
Liu Jiakang couldn't stand it any longer. He rushed forward, clenched his fists, and prepared to argue with Chen Erhe. However, Liu Dahai grabbed him and signaled him not to be impulsive. Liu Dahai knew that arguing with these scoundrels would only make things worse. He took a deep breath, tried to stay calm, and said to Chen Erhe: "Chen Erhe, the grudge between our two families is over. I hope you can let it go and give my son a happy future."
Chen Erhe, however, disagreed. He continued to laugh and said, "Hmph, go over there? Do you think I will let you go so easily? When will you pay me back the money you owe me? Also, was the money your son used to marry his wife also stolen? Haha..." His laughter was harsh, making everyone present feel angry.
