The ward had been booked long ago, but because the wife of a leader suddenly gave birth, neither hospital dared to offend her. In the end, Liu Yanran gave up the ward first. After all, the leader had already entered the delivery room, while she had not yet gone into labor. So she temporarily moved into a three-person room, which was considered to be one of the better wards in the hospital.

However, the old woman seemed to be completely indifferent to the little girl beside the mother, as if she didn't exist at all. Even though she gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl, she only had eyes for her eldest grandson.
Furthermore, the woman's husband was not present, leading some to speculate whether he, too, favors boys over girls. If this is the case, neither the woman nor the newborn baby girl will likely have a happy and fulfilling life.
"Hurry up, don't waste time, feed my eldest grandson something." The old woman impatiently handed the baby boy in her arms to Lin Caimei.
Lin Caimei looked at her son crying for food in her arms, and her heart ached. She said weakly to her mother-in-law, "Mom, I haven't eaten much since yesterday. Where will I get the milk to feed the child?"
When the mother-in-law heard this, she immediately flew into a rage and pointed at Lin Caimei's nose and cursed: "Lin Caimei, what do you mean by this? Are you trying to say that I'm abusing you? It's just giving birth to a child, why are you being so hypocritical? Back then, after I gave birth to Liye, I went back to work in the fields the same day! You city people are so precious!"

Lin Caimei held her child, tears welling up in her eyes. She could never have imagined that her once kind and amiable mother-in-law would become so unreasonable.
At that moment, the door to the ward opened and a man walked in. Lin Caimei looked closely and saw it was her husband, Wang Liye. Wang Liye's face was exhausted, and his eyes revealed a hint of helplessness.
"Liye, you're finally here." The mother-in-law's expression immediately changed. She smiled and said to Wang Liye, "Come and see your son. He looks just like you."
Wang Liye looked at the baby in the cradle, then at the haggard Lin Caimei, and a trace of guilt rose in his heart. He walked over to Lin Caimei and gently held her hand, "Wife, thank you for your hard work."
Hearing her husband's words, Lin Caimei burst into tears. She wished she could turn back time, to the moment they first met. Back then, Wang Liye was gentle and considerate, caring for her deeply. But now, everything had changed...
"Mom, I gave birth to twins, a boy and a girl! The son is naturally your Wang family's child, but isn't the daughter Liye's biological child? She is also my child!" Lin Caimei said excitedly.
When Old Lady Wang heard this, she flew into a rage. "How dare you say that! If you weren't useless, how could you have only given birth to one son? If you were more capable, it would have been wonderful to give us twins! Now, you've given birth to a money-loser. How are we going to raise them in the future?"
After hearing what her mother-in-law said, Lin Caimei was so angry that her whole body trembled, and tears welled up in her eyes: "Mom, you are really too much! How can your daughters become money-losing goods? They are your granddaughters!"
However, Old Lady Wang showed no mercy and coldly retorted, "What good is a granddaughter? She'll marry someone else and become part of another family! Only a son can continue the family bloodline and bring honor to the family!"
Wang Liye listened to his mother's words, his heart filled with helplessness and grievance, but he did not dare to refute her out loud. He could only silently guard his eldest daughter and hug his youngest daughter tightly in his arms.
Lin Caimei looked at her unreasonable mother-in-law, feeling helpless and aggrieved. She didn't know how to face such a family environment, her unreasonable mother-in-law, and her weak husband.
Ever since Lin Caimei married into this family, she's faced daily challenges and accusations from her mother-in-law. She endures this silently, but her heart tires. Recalling her decision, Lin Caimei regrets it deeply. She thought marrying a villager would reduce her workload, but she ended up in a difficult situation. Now, not only has she lost her parents, but she's also been cut off from her siblings, leaving her feeling lonely and hopeless.
