Chapter 3 Gold Finger

Cao Cuilan was responsible for caring for her two daughters-in-law during their postpartum period, so the household shopping naturally fell to Liu Yanran, which suited her perfectly, as it gave her an opportunity to get to know the market conditions of the time. Cao Cuilan counted the money and tickets, handed them to Liu Yanran, and reminded her to be careful on the road and to contact the police if she had any problems. After all, her daughter was so young that she treated her like a child.

Liu Yanran had gone shopping with Cao Cuilan before and was familiar with the route. Luckily, her eldest brother had a bicycle; otherwise, she would have been exhausted if she had to walk all the way. However, Liu Yanran didn't go directly to the supply and marketing cooperative, but first stopped at the scrap collection station. Many time-traveling heroines had found their first pot of gold there, so Liu Yanran wanted to try her luck there, too.

When Liu Yanran arrived at the purchasing station, she told the old man she wanted to buy some books. However, the old man seemed accustomed to young people dreaming of getting rich. He simply said, "Books are 20 cents per pound. Once you've picked out yours, come back and have them weighed." After that, he ignored Liu Yanran.

Liu Yanran was secretly delighted to hear that the price was so low. She quickly began to search through a pile of old books, hoping to find some valuable books.

After some searching, Liu Yanran found a few books that looked good, including one on Traditional Chinese Medicine and health preservation, and another on recipes. She thought these books might become valuable cultural relics in the future.

Liu Yanran was thinking about going to the old man to settle the bill, but then she stumbled and fell down. Liu Yanran touched something round and suddenly felt a sharp pain. Liu Yanran found herself in a familiar place. The three-story villa in front of her was her most common residence in modern times!

She walked to the door of the villa as if she was familiar with it, and then the facial recognition was successful. Liu Yanran successfully entered the villa. She went to her room first and opened the drawer. Her mobile phone, tablet and charger were all there. Liu Yanran turned on the screen of her mobile phone. The time on it was August 7, 2024, the date of her death in this world.

She went back to the study and opened the safe. The cash, bank cards, and jewelry she had previously deposited were all still there. Liu Yanran excitedly opened her mobile banking app and found that her deposits were also still there. So was traveling back to the 1970s just a dream?

Liu Yanran watched all this in disbelief, then excitedly walked around the villa, taking in the familiar surroundings and atmosphere. It seemed as if nothing had changed. She walked into the living room and turned on the TV to check the news, but the screen was covered in snow, and nothing could be seen.

She picked up her phone again, wanting to call her friends to check on them, but the call was blocked, indicating no signal. "Could it be because I haven't paid my phone bill in so long that my service is disconnected?" Liu Yanran wondered.

Not giving up, she opened the shopping app again and bought a bunch of food and drinks, thinking: "It would be really troublesome if this doesn't work..." Fortunately, there was no problem when paying. After the money was successfully deducted, Liu Yanran finally breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that the network might have just been bad.

After confirming the payment function was working properly, Liu Yanran began her shopping spree. From clothes and shoes to snacks, drinks, and even various household items, she added everything she could think of to the shopping cart and placed an order. After all, she was a wealthy woman with plenty of money.

While she was frantically shopping, she suddenly heard the doorbell ring. She was startled, wondering who could be looking for her, after all, no one had been here in three years. With trepidation, Liu Yanran opened the door, only to be startled by the sight before her—many express boxes piled up at the door.

"Why are there so many packages? I just placed my order..." Liu Yanran muttered to herself in surprise. She laboriously carried the boxes into the villa and unpacked them one by one. Sure enough, they contained the items she had just purchased.

"Is express delivery this fast these days? This is outrageous..." Liu Yanran marveled, secretly thankful that her life hadn't been significantly affected. However, she didn't know that this was just the beginning. As time passed, more strange things would happen, and she would gradually uncover the secrets behind this world.

Liu Yanran stared at her phone screen, her brow furrowed slightly. She noticed something strange: the time displayed on her phone seemed to be permanently stuck at 6:23 PM, never changing. Could it be that time here stood still? A flicker of doubt welled up in her, but it was quickly replaced by excitement.

Suddenly, she remembered what she had just experienced. When she touched the object, she felt a sharp pain, as if her finger had been cut. She realized that this might be the opportunity to acknowledge the master through blood.

"Wow!" Liu Yanran exclaimed excitedly. She realized she possessed the golden finger, the legendary space. This meant she could stockpile supplies and exchange them for banknotes, thus fulfilling her dream of becoming rich in the 1970s.

Liu Yanran's heart was filled with joy and anticipation. She knew this dimension would bring her endless opportunities and possibilities. She couldn't wait to explore this mysterious dimension and use it to change her life.

Being able to shop was a good thing. Liu Yanran tentatively searched for foods from the 1970s and found peach cakes, White Rabbit candy, calcium milk biscuits, malted milk, brown sugar, and other foods that were characteristic of the era. Liu Yanran bought some of those, along with chicken, duck, fish, pork, and free-range eggs. After all, her two sisters-in-law were still in confinement after childbirth and needed nutrition.

Liu Yanran muttered "out" silently, and then she appeared at the scrap collection station again. Liu Yanran picked up the book and walked towards the old man. The old man looked at Liu Yanran and saw that she had only chosen the book. A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, but he quickly regained his composure.

"Little girl, you have good taste. Although these books are a bit old, they are still valuable." The old man weighed them and said, "A total of five pounds, one yuan."

Liu Yanran paid the money and happily left the scrap collection station. Although she didn't find any valuable old items, she felt that God was really helping her because she was able to open the space and return to the villa she was familiar with.

After riding her bike to a dead end, Liu Yanran silently muttered "Put it away," and the bike and the books tied to it vanished from sight. She muttered "Enter," and she reappeared at the villa's entrance, where the bike and books had vanished. Just as she'd imagined, this space had a storage function.
