Chapter 73 Lesson 1 - Obedience

Liu Yanran thought for a moment before taking out the welcome gifts she had prepared for everyone. While she had no fondness for Tang Xiaoxiao, the others were more than acceptable for now. Liu Yanran took out the vanishing cream, White Rabbit candy, and the pastries she had made herself that morning. "This is the welcome gift I specially prepared for everyone. I made these pastries myself. I hope you like them."

Seeing her humility and courtesy, everyone showed off the specialties their families had meticulously prepared. Gao Yuan and Feng Na brought out nuts, like two glittering pearls. "These are hazelnuts and walnuts from the mountains above us. We pick them ourselves, so fresh they look like they've just been plucked from the branches. Come winter, you can come back and enjoy our frozen pears; they're simply divine." The two enthusiastically distributed handfuls to everyone.

Meng Xin and Meng Yao gave each person a pen, which shows the power of Zhejiang Province in doting on their daughters. They are wealthy and generous, and they are not stingy, so the show must be as grand as possible.

Deng Wanru and Xie Xuan brought out some of Beijing's most famous pastries, all from time-honored establishments. Liu Yanran sampled a few bites and found them truly exceptional, though her own Zhenpinzhai was no slouch, boasting a dazzling array of products. Everyone ignored Tang Xiaoxiao's antics, and in a flash, they realized how pure and simple the girls' friendship truly was. They bonded instantly.

At this moment, Tang Xiaoxiao, who had been silent all the time, spoke, "I'm sorry, I was a little impulsive just now. Actually, I have prepared gifts for everyone." After that, she took out a few small boxes from her bag and handed them to everyone.

When everyone opened it, they saw some handmade accessories inside. Although they were not exquisite, it was obvious that a lot of thought had gone into them.

"Wow, so cute! Thank you Xiaoxiao!" everyone said.

Tang Xiaoxiao smiled a little embarrassedly, "I don't have much money, so I can only make some small things to give to everyone. I hope you don't mind."

"How could I dislike it? This is made by Xiaoxiao herself, it is more precious than anything else!" Xie Xuan said with a smile.

In this way, the atmosphere in the dormitory became more harmonious. Everyone started talking about their interests and hobbies, and looking forward to their future college life.

The next day, the students received a notice for a class meeting. During the meeting, the teacher announced an important piece of news: the school would organize a 15-day military training program, requiring all students to participate unless otherwise required. This news filled the students with both excitement and nervousness, and they began to look forward to the upcoming military training.

The teacher also told the students that the army would send people to lead them to the military area for training. This made the students even more excited about the military training. They imagined themselves receiving rigorous training in the military area and strengthening their will and body.

The students said they would actively participate in the military training, overcome difficulties, and strive to complete the training tasks. They believed that through this military training, they would become stronger, more confident, and more united.

After the class meeting, the students began preparing for military training. They packed their bags and gathered the necessary items. Meanwhile, they silently encouraged themselves, hoping to do well in the training.

After a busy preparation period, the day of military training finally arrived. The students arrived at the assembly point early, excited and nervous. Large military trucks were lined up neatly, waiting for the students to board.

Everyone boarded the massive truck in order, carefully placing their luggage beneath their hips as cushions before settling in. With the roar of the engine, the vehicle began to slowly move forward, its destination clear: the military district.

Along the way, the students couldn't hide their excitement and chatted with each other excitedly, their words filled with endless curiosity and anticipation for the upcoming military training. Everyone had originally assumed that the vehicle would have a smooth journey all the way to the military area, but contrary to their expectations, at this moment, the vehicle suddenly stopped without warning.

After all the vehicles had come to a safe stop, the students were instructed to carry their heavy bags and disembark. Then, a man in a neat military uniform, leading the group, shouted, "We're still five kilometers from the military area. If you don't reach it within an hour, you won't have dinner tonight!"

Faced with this sudden change, everyone erupted in an uproar. However, the soldier ignored the clamor surrounding him. He decisively left several soldiers behind to ensure the students' safety, then led the remaining trucks away, leaving only the roar of the trucks echoing through the air. The exceptionally intelligent Liu Yanran, however, had the foresight to shield her mouth and nose with her hands, successfully shielding herself from the incoming cloud of dust.

Hearing this, the students groaned bitterly. Most of them chose to pack their bags and begin the long hike. Some were reluctant to move, thinking that the army would not care about the students' lives and was just trying to scare them. However, seeing the large army moving, they reluctantly followed.

Everyone chatted as they walked, encouraging each other to keep going. Liu Yanran walked in the middle of the group and noticed that her classmates all looked a little tired, but they were still holding on. Her physical strength wasn't great; her family had never let her do any housework since she was a child, and now she was starting to feel a bit exhausted. But Deng Wanru was always by her side, encouraging her, so she gritted her teeth and persevered.

Each college conducted its own military training, and this time, only the hundred or so students from their own college participated, with the majority being female. Time flew by, and the sun gradually sank westward. Some students, exhausted, began to fall behind the group, but fortunately, other students lent a hand and helped them catch up.

Finally, in the distance, the military district's gate loomed before everyone. The students cheered excitedly and quickened their pace. When the last student successfully entered the military district, everyone breathed a sigh of relief, as if a heavy burden had been lifted.

The instructor who came to pick them up was quite satisfied with the students' overall performance. After giving everyone a few brief instructions, he led them towards the dormitory area.

However, when the students saw with their own eyes what the so-called "dormitory" looked like, they were all stunned - they were extremely simple rooms with hard wooden beds inside. Such harsh and simple conditions were actually where they would be living for the next half month!

Although they inevitably felt a little lost and frustrated, they quickly adjusted their mindsets and proactively threw themselves into the task of sorting out their affairs. After all, everyone knew that the truly severe test had just begun...
