Chapter 8 Adventure

Liu Yanran happily headed to the back hills, hoping to pick some mushrooms to satisfy her craving for chicken and mushroom stew. She followed the winding path, sunlight filtering through the leaves, casting dappled shadows on her. She hummed a delighted tune, her steps as light as a cheerful bird.

However, fate unexpectedly took a turn. While focused on searching for mushrooms, she suddenly lost her balance and plummeted into the valley. Her screams echoed through the valley, but no one could hear them. She felt dizzy, her heartbeat raced, and her mind went blank.

Fortunately, Liu Yanran finally landed in a stream in front of a cave. The water was crystal clear and icy cold. Her clothes were soaked through, clinging to her body, sending a chill through her. Her foot was inevitably injured, so she picked up a thick stick nearby to support herself. She gasped in fear, her heart filled with dread and confusion. She looked around and found herself in a quiet and mysterious place. The cave entrance was obscured by vines and weeds, as if revealing its secrets.

Liu Yanran cautiously entered the cave, gently pushing aside the vines and weeds with her stick. She saw a strange light flickering on the cave wall, as if some mysterious force was drawing her in. She took a deep breath and mustered her courage to enter the cave.

The cave was filled with a damp smell, the ground was uneven, and the walls were covered with strangely shaped rocks. Liu Yanran walked cautiously, her heart filled with curiosity and uneasiness. She didn't know what surprises or dangers this cave would bring her.

Suddenly, she felt a powerful force thrust her forward. She struggled to maintain her balance, but fell to the ground. She looked up and saw a portal shimmering with mysterious light. From within, strange, eerie noises emanated, leaving her hair standing on end.

Liu Yanran felt a strong urge to explore the secrets behind this portal. She gripped her staff tightly and walked towards it. As she approached, the portal slowly opened, revealing a dark and deep passage. A thin layer of mist filled the passage, obscuring the view ahead.

Liu Yanran hesitated for a moment, then finally decided to enter the passage. She took a deep breath and took a firm step. The air inside the passage was unusually heavy, making her feel a little suffocated. But she gritted her teeth and continued forward.

As she went deeper, the passageway widened, and faint lights flickered on the walls. Liu Yanran discovered that these lights came from a unique mineral, emitting a captivating brilliance. She paused to examine the minerals, a surge of joy welling up in her heart. Perhaps these minerals could help her find a way out, or become a valuable asset in her life.

Her footsteps echoed in the empty cave, sending a chill down her spine. She felt around the walls, hoping to find some clue or an exit.

Deep within the cave, Liu Yanran cautiously explored. Suddenly, her eyes were drawn to a corner. There lay an old stone bed, atop which lay a withered skeleton. A nearby stone table was piled high with medical books and notes, seemingly recording the wisdom and experience of those who had once lived there.

Liu Yanran felt a surge of reverence for the hermit healer. She felt that doctors, regardless of time or place, were a respectable profession, saving lives with their selfless dedication. So, she decided to collect the old man's remains as a sign of respect.

Out of basic courtesy, Liu Yanran respectfully kowtowed three times to the old doctor. Just then, she sensed something unusual beneath the stone bed. She tapped the ground lightly, only to find a hollow sound.

Could there be some secret hidden here? Curious, Liu Yanran carefully observed her surroundings until she finally discovered a hidden mechanism. With a gentle push, the stone wall before her slowly moved away, revealing a secret room.

Within the secret room, thirty or forty large boxes were neatly arranged, exuding a mysterious atmosphere. Liu Yanran's heart raced as she eagerly opened one of the boxes. Her eyes widened as the box was filled with glittering golden small yellow croakers! She then opened other boxes and discovered, in addition to the small yellow croakers, a large number of precious items, including silver ingots, jewelry, calligraphy and paintings, and medical books.

"How...how is this possible? Could doctors in ancient times earn so much money?" Liu Yanran was so surprised that her mouth couldn't close. She had originally thought that these boxes contained only ordinary items, but she had never expected that they contained endless wealth.

Faced with such a huge fortune, Liu Yanran was no exception. Who doesn't like gold, silver, and jewelry? Without hesitation, she put all the boxes into the space villa and prepared to keep them properly. These things must not be left out in the open now, and they will be taken out at the right time in the future.

After finishing the work on the cave's owner, Liu Yanran began diligently collecting his body and erecting a tombstone at the cave's entrance to commemorate this great healer. Afterward, Liu Yanran took a deep breath, overwhelmed with emotion. This adventure in the cave had taught her that life's journey is filled with unknowns and surprises, and as long as one maintains a kind heart, unexpected rewards will always be found.

However, just as she was immersed in joy, a low roar came from behind her. She turned around in fear and saw a huge beast rushing towards her. The beast was huge, its hair stood up like steel needles, and its eyes flashed with a fierce light.

Liu Yanran turned pale with fear and quickly raised her stick to defend herself. The beast was incredibly fast, reaching her in the blink of an eye. She swung her stick vigorously, trying to block the beast's attack.
