Chapter 31 Third Uncle's Friend
"Uncle San, is that man reliable?" Bai Jing had never done this before, so she was somewhat worried.
If it was just her, she could sell it through the system, but that's not possible now. The meat is already clear, and if she really sells it to the system, they will be scared to death.
"It's reliable. When we were short of food at home, I would exchange some with him and take it back." Uncle Bai felt a little upset when he thought of the past.
Dad's life was obviously so easy, but he and his three brothers still had to suffer.
"Uncle San, he can't be from the black market, right?" Although Bai Jing had never experienced it, she had heard of it.
The black market is not a good place. They have so much meat but only two people. If one of them is not careful, the deal may fail and they may end up being robbed.
She never believed that human nature is good. After experiencing the beatings of society, she remembered that human nature is evil.
When Third Uncle heard Xiao Jing's words, he didn't refute it, but nodded, "Well, but don't worry, Xiao Jing, Third Uncle saved him, he is not the kind of person who has no conscience."
He naturally knew what Xiaojing was worried about, but he believed in his friend.
After all, they were willing to help me when I was so poor before, and now that I have good things to sell to them, they are naturally happy.
He really wasn't worried about safety.
"If what you are worried about really happens, Xiaojing, don't worry about your uncle. Run away first. We don't want the meat." If he can escape, he will return it to his sister-in-law.
Bai Jing felt unhappy when she heard what her uncle said, "Uncle, what are you talking about? How could I abandon you?" Even if something really happened, she was not afraid because she had the system.
"Uncle San, don't forget, your niece is very strong. I wouldn't be afraid of two more, let alone two of them."
She was not lying, she had great power and could break anything.
Uncle Bai was comforted by her, "Really? You forgot about your strength." After saying that, he laughed out loud.
Because they were carrying backpacks, they were a little out of breath when walking. Bai Jing was better, after all, she had the strength of three hundred pounds.
"It seems that Uncle San will have to eat more in the future, so that he can gain more strength." Uncle Bai was very envious.
Bai Jing smiled, but she would never say that her strength was not gained from eating.
"Come on, Third Uncle. Things will get better in the future."
With Uncle San leading the way, it was still dark when they arrived at the commune.
When I knocked on my friend's door, I heard a man's voice from inside, "Who is it?" followed by the sound of footsteps.
"Who?" It was too dark, and fearing something might happen, the person inside asked again.
"It's me." Uncle Bai lowered his voice intentionally so that the neighbors living nearby could not hear it.
On the other side of the door, the man heard a familiar voice and immediately removed the bolt. When the door opened, he saw his savior outside.
"Why are you here at this hour? But there's not enough food at home?"
Seeing the person coming, Zhong Qiming immediately made way and said, "Come in quickly."
Bai Quanshou didn't bother to be polite with him and pulled Bai Jing into the yard.
Zhong Qiming, who was closing the door, also noticed that there was an extra person, but he did not ask, but quickly closed the door.
It was not until they reached the house and lit the kerosene lamp that Zhong Qiming spoke, "But what happened?" he asked with concern.
Bai Quanshou glanced at his niece and when he saw her nod, he took off his backpack.
"We encountered a wild boar in the mountains yesterday. We had a lot of meat, but we couldn't finish it all at home. We were short of food, so we thought we'd take some of it and trade it for something to take back."
After saying that, he took out the meat from the basket.
The white pork immediately appeared in Zhong Qiming's eyes. He didn't care whether he was a brother or not, and went forward to check it out.
After looking through it for a while, he finally suppressed his excitement and trembling hands, "This is wild boar meat. Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
What Bai Jing didn't expect was that her third uncle's friend was not concerned about the meat first, but her third uncle. It can be seen that the friend her third uncle was talking about was a good person.
The defenses in my heart relaxed a little.
"I'm fine, don't pull me, I'm tired." Uncle Bai was being pulled by his friend and immediately stopped him, "Hurry and take a look at the meat. It's so hot, don't let it spoil."
Seeing his sincere tone, Zhong Qiming believed him and said, "It won't be damaged. I'll sell it soon. But you have to wait here for me, or come with me to Wang Fei." I'm glad that he's not hurt.
Uncle San once again turned his gaze to Bai Jing, wanting to ask for her opinion. Naturally, his actions were also seen by Zhong Qiming.
"Who is this?" He looked at Bai Jing curiously. His benefactor had two sons but no daughter. This little girl looked a bit like his benefactor in terms of features, so he was unsure for a moment.
"This is my niece, my biological daughter, from my eldest brother's family." When Uncle Bai heard his friend ask about his niece, he immediately introduced her proudly, with a hint of boasting in his tone.
"She was the one who killed this wild boar. If you don't believe me, look at this pig's head." As he said this, he went to his basket to find the wild boar's head with a smashed skull.
He took it out and said, "Don't say that your brother didn't think of you when he got something good. Look, this is the gift I brought you." After Uncle Bai took out the pig's head, he began to show it to Zhong Qiming.
But his words shocked Zhong Qiming.
"Give it to me?" He was surprised, then immediately shook his hand, "No, no, these are all meat, I can't take them." His conditions were much better than Brother Bai's, and he must not take his things.
"Well, take them. We killed three in total, two big ones and one small one. We kept the small one for ourselves, and we came to you for the two big ones. You have many connections, so help me think of a solution."
Bai Jing listened quietly to their conversation and discussion throughout the whole process without raising any opinions.
However, when she heard the price, her heart couldn't help but tremble.
If she remembered correctly, back then it only cost 70 cents per pound if you used meat coupons, right?
But why did Uncle San's friend only offer a price of one yuan and thirty cents, almost double the price?
It's also Bai Jing's fault for being so ignorant. Although pork isn't expensive these days, you need a ticket.
Also, even if you have a ticket, you can't buy the meat whenever you want.
It's not so bad here in the commune, at least people there can eat meat once a month. But in towns and county towns, meat is hard to come by.
Even on the black market, the price is ridiculously high, and it is difficult to buy it even if you have money.
"One dollar and three cents, are you sure? It's so expensive?" Thinking of the meat eaten at home, Uncle Bai looked distressed.
He had never bought meat outside before, so he really didn't know the price.
If he had money, he might as well buy more food and store it at home, so that at least his family wouldn't starve.
"You're right. The price is not high, but it's not low either. At least it's only worth this price in our commune. If we take it to the town, the price will be even higher." Zhong Qiming didn't lie. He told the truth.
