Chapter 107 Is he suitable to be the eldest brother-in-law?
The next day, after breakfast, Han Zhengping came on a bicycle. Gu Siqing took her things and sat in the back seat to go to the dance class.
Gu Siqing had only attended this dance class a few times and was still practicing basic skills, such as bending back, stretching legs, and splits.
When I first started learning, my posture definitely wasn't pretty. When facing strangers, Gu Siqing didn't care. "You don't know me anyway, so if my posture isn't pretty, then it's fine." But facing acquaintances was different; I felt embarrassed.
In order to recruit students, the teacher allowed people to stand at the door and watch. At this moment, Han Zhengping was standing at the door watching her practice the splits.
Being looked at by him, Gu Siqing felt very awkward, so she walked up to him and whispered, "There's a library over there, why don't you go and read a book there."
Han Zhengping knew that he was embarrassed, so he smiled and turned away. He was usually in a good mood.
After the dance class, Gu Siqing asked him to take her to the post office. She had written more than 20,000 words of her novel and wanted to submit it.
She decided to contribute to children's newspapers. Currently, domestic children's newspapers include: Children's Pictorial, Children's Literature, and China Youth Daily.
Gu Siqing decided to submit her work to the China Youth Daily, a newspaper with a readership between the ages of 8 and 18, which matched her novel's target audience. It also had a section dedicated to serialized novels. Furthermore, this newspaper was currently the largest youth-focused newspaper in China.
He didn't hide it from Han Zhengping and told him, "I'm just going to give it a try. Don't tell anyone else yet. I'll tell you after it's published."
Han Zhengping could accept the fact that Gu Siqing was smarter than the average little girl, and he cooperated by saying that he would not tell anyone else about it.
There were more than 20,000 words and 40 to 50 pages of manuscript paper. Gu Siqing bought the largest envelope she could, put it in, put a stamp on it, and handed it to the post office staff.
It cost 8 cents in total.
The two of them were riding their bikes home when they saw a military vehicle at the entrance of the alley. As they passed by, the people in the vehicle stuck their heads out and asked them, "Little boy, is Gu Yimin's house here?"
Gu Siqing jumped off the back of the bicycle and looked at the man in the car. He was wearing a military uniform, with clear eyebrows and eyes, and a tough but gentle temperament. He was better looking than Luo Yongnian.
"Come with us." Gu Siqing got on the back seat again, and Han Zhengping rode forward. Ye Chi smiled and lightly stepped on the accelerator to follow them. This kid is quite interesting.
Arriving at the door of Gu's house, before entering, I heard Comrade Wang Yueju's voice, "Just put the cabinet here, and put that one here too."
Gu Siqing and Han Zhengping went in, and Ye Chi also got out of the car with gifts and followed. Wang Yueju saw Gu Siqing and said, "Go and pack your things quickly. Originally they said we could paint the walls one room at a time, but now they say we can paint the front yard at the same time. Hurry and pack up your things."
Gu Siqing didn't say anything, but turned around and glanced at the tall and slender Ye Chi. "Mom, there's such a big man standing here, didn't you see it?"
Wang Yueju only saw Ye Chi then. He was holding a gift in his hand, and it was obvious that he was here to visit. But she didn't remember that there was no such relative in their family.
"Who are you?" Wang Yueju asked.
Ye Chi smiled and said, "My name is Ye Chi. Comrade Gu Yimin once helped my father. I came here today to express my father's gratitude to Comrade Gu Yimin and to visit you and uncle."
Wang Yueju didn't know that Gu Yimin had helped Ye Xingjian. She was stunned for a moment, then smiled and said, "Come in and sit down. The house is being renovated and it's a mess."
Every room in the front yard was moving things, leaving only the kitchen untouched. Wang Yueju had no choice but to invite everyone to the kitchen. Ye Chi didn't care. He put the gift down and started rolling up his sleeves, "Auntie, I'll go help."
"No, no," Wang Yueju tried to stop him, but Ye Chi's legs were long and she couldn't stop him.
Ye Chi walked over and greeted a few renovation workers, then joined them in moving things out of the house. He was good-looking and had a distinguished temperament, and he looked out of place among the renovation workers, but he just fit in with them and was able to chat with them while they worked.
Gu Siqing came close to Wang Yueju and said, "Mom, this is okay, right?"
Wang Yueju knew what she meant, but she smiled and said, "What's the problem? Go pack your things."
Gu Siqing shrugged and went back to her room, with Han Zhengping following her. She took out her clothes and packed them while Han Zhengping packed her books. As she worked, Gu Siqing recounted the story between Gu Yimin and Ye Chi, and finally asked, "Do you think he's a suitable brother-in-law?"
Han Zhengping looked through the window at Ye Chi, who was bending over to work, and said, "Better than Deng Zhiming."
Gu Siqing rolled her eyes. "There's no comparison, okay?"
Han Zhengping thought her rolling of her eyes was adorable and smiled with the curve of his lips.
As midnight neared, the renovation workers began to leave for home. Wang Yueju's lunch was almost ready. She'd cooked six dishes for guests, a hearty feast. Han Zhengping, however, wasn't eating; he washed his hands and left.
"There are a lot of stewed ribs, take some." Wang Yueju filled a small bowl of ribs and handed it to Han Zhengping. He didn't hesitate and took the ribs and left.
After putting the food on the table, Wang Yueju smiled and asked Ye Chi to sit down and eat. She then packed lunch for Gu Yimin and the others and said, "Yimin and the others are eating in the store. I'll pack it for them and have Xiao Si bring it over."
Ye Chi was wondering why Gu Yimin didn't come back for lunch, and after hearing what Wang Yueju said, he said, "I'll take it over. I can drive."
"I'm so sorry that I didn't treat you well when you came," Wang Yueju said sorry, but added one more person's portion to the lunch box.
Ye Chi smiled, "We are all family, please don't be polite."
Wang Yueju put a few lunch boxes in a net bag and handed it to him, "Let Xiaosi go with you."
Ye Chi knew that Xiao Si was the clever kid, so he smiled and said, "Okay."
He walked out with a net bag of food. Wang Yueju called Gu Siqing, who was still packing up in her room, and said, "Send food to your sister and the others." She stuffed a dollar into her hand and whispered, "Buy a few bottles of soda."
Gu Siqing took the money and followed Ye Chi. The military vehicle had a very high chassis, and Gu Siqing, being short, had to crawl up. She felt a little embarrassed and blushed slightly. Ye Chi found it funny, and the corners of his lips curled up a lot more.
Seeing this, Gu Siqing felt a pang of evil. She turned her head and looked at Ye Chi as he started the car, saying, "You took something from me, why are you giving it back to me?"
Ye Chi was stunned for a moment, then turned around and asked with a smile, "What did I take from you?"
Gu Siqing: "What a joke!"
Ye Chi laughed out loud, "Who did you learn this from, kid?"
Gu Siqing: "You!"
Ye Chi remembered what he had said to tease Gu Yimin and laughed again, then said, "I really do have something with your sister."
