Chapter 43 Narrow

Chapter 43 Narrow

Gu Jianguo and Han Deyi each had 2,000 yuan on them. They spent 2,500 yuan on the jackets, leaving them with 1,500 yuan. They then went to a jeans manufacturer and bought nearly 200 pairs of jeans.

When they returned to the hotel, each of them carried a large bag. The hotel receptionist smiled and said, "Brother, have the goods arrived?"

Gu Jianguo and Han Deyi exchanged a few pleasantries with him before returning to their rooms. Their return tickets had already been purchased, and they'd bought a few more pancakes along the way. Next, they'd tie the two packages together. At night, each of them would hold a package.

They had to be careful, as these two packages of goods were their savings of many years and the hope for the future of their two families.

"I think these jackets and jeans will sell well in the provincial capital." Han Deyi said, leaning on the big sack filled with jeans.

Gu Jianguo nodded. "I think so too. There are many factories and companies in the provincial capital, and the people there are wealthy. I made some mistakes. I didn't think carefully before coming here."

Han Deyi lit a cigarette, took a puff and said, "Why don't we rent a house in the provincial capital and sell it?"

Gu Jianguo sat up, lit a cigarette, smoked for a while, and said, "Was Qiu Weiguang from the second company from the provincial capital?"

"It seems so," Han Deyi said, "You want to find him?"

Gu Jianguo exhaled a puff of smoke and said, "If we do business in the provincial capital in the future, it would be better to have an acquaintance."

"That's true, but we weren't familiar with him at that time," said Han Deyi.

Gu Jianguo sighed, "I used to look down on those who liked to scheme for personal gain. I always thought they were spineless. Now that I think about it, I don't care about spine. I just took myself too seriously."

Han Deyi laughed out loud, "We're both the same. If we had used some connections when we retired, we wouldn't be in this situation now."

Gu Jianguo gave a wry smile. "I've met Qiu Weiguang a few times before. He's a nice guy. I even know his address. I'll go find him when I get to the provincial capital."

When he was in the army, Gu Jianguo brought something to Qiu Weiguang when he went home to visit his family.

Han Deyi exhaled a puff of smoke and said, "Okay, I'll go find him when I get home. It's not enough for just the two of us to sell clothes, we have to bring our family over."

Gu Jianguo hummed, "My family will let Yimin and Erhui go to the provincial capital, and your family will let your sister-in-law go. Your two boys will go to my house, and let my wife take care of the children."

Han Deyi thought this arrangement was good and agreed.

The two men agreed to lie down and rest, and then got up at five o'clock the next morning to head to the train station. The hotel receptionist saw the two men, each carrying an oversized sack, and thought to herself that they were really strong, as most people couldn't lift such a heavy object.

It was certainly not easy for two people to squeeze onto the train carrying large sacks on their backs, but luckily they were both tall and strong, so they managed to squeeze in. They both held on to the sacks tightly throughout the journey, not even letting go when eating.

For four days and three nights, the two barely slept a wink. After getting off the train, they immediately found a hotel to sleep in. They slept all day and didn't wake up until noon the next day.

After washing up and eating something, Gu Jianguo went to the supply and marketing cooperative to buy some gifts and went to Qiu Weiguang's house.

This was the first time Gu Jianguo had to beg for help while carrying something. In the past, he might have felt ashamed and uncomfortable, but this time, he remained calm until he stood at Qiu Weiguang's door.

He laughed at himself again. He really took himself too seriously before! In fact, in life, everyone will encounter some difficulties, so how can you not ask for help?

I was too narrow-minded before!

There was a knock on the door, and soon someone came to open it. It was a woman in her forties, slightly plump. When she saw Gu Jianguo, she asked, "Who are you looking for?"

"Is this Qiu Weiguang's home?" Gu Jianguo asked. Seeing the woman nod, he added, "I'm Weiguang's comrade-in-arms."

The woman said, "Oh," and turned sideways, saying, "Come in." Then she called inside, "Old Qiu, someone's looking for you."

Qiu Weiguang came out of the room and was stunned when he saw Gu Jianguo. Then he walked over, punched him on the shoulder and said, "Gu Jianguo! Oh, how long have we not seen each other? Come and sit down."

"It's been seven or eight years since we last met." Gu Jianguo said as he sat down.

Seeing the two men sitting down to talk, Qiu Weiguang's wife poured two glasses of water over. Gu Jianguo quickly thanked him, and then the two comrades who hadn't seen each other for many years began to chat enthusiastically, mostly talking about their past in the army.

After talking for more than half an hour, Qiu Weiguang finally remembered to ask, "Jianguo, why are you here this time?"

Gu Jianguo recounted his business dealings with Han Deyi, and concluded by saying, "We're new here, so we came to you."

After hearing this, Qiu Weiguang gave Gu Jianguo a thumbs-up and said, "You two are quite courageous."

Gu Jianguo smiled bitterly, "It's all for the sake of supporting the family. It's too tight for a large family to live on just a few acres of land."

Qiu Weiguang patted his shoulder and said, "Leave it to me. I'll find you a house in the next two days."

Seeing that he was still as generous as before, Gu Jianguo patted his arm and said, "I won't talk nonsense with you. I'll buy you a drink next time."

Qiu Weiguang laughed heartily, "Okay, it's been many years since I last saw Deyi. Let's have a good drink together then."

After leaving Qiu Weiguang's house, Gu Jianguo once again felt that he had been hypocritical and narrow-minded before. Look, asking others to do things is not that difficult.

Qiu Weiguang was very efficient and came to the hotel to find them the next day. He said he had found a house on Zhongshan Road and asked them to go and take a look. Gu Jianguo and Han Deyi carried two large sacks and went to Zhongshan Road.

Zhongshan Road is considered the city center of Lizhou City. There is a small square here, and many people usually come here to play. The house that Qiu Weiguang found for me is right next to the small square. It is over 30 square meters, and the upstairs room is still habitable.

"I was originally looking for a house in the West District, but my brother-in-law told me that a friend of his had a house here. I came over and saw that it was much better than the one I found," said Qiu Weiguang.

Gu Jianguo and Han Deyi were very satisfied with the house and asked about the rent. Qiu Weiguang hesitated and said, "Upstairs and downstairs, fifteen yuan a month."

Fifteen yuan for rent wasn't cheap, so he hesitated when he said it. He also knew that it wasn't easy for Gu Jianguo and Han Deyi to run this business, but the location was indeed good.

Gu Jianguo and Han Deyi did think the rent was a bit high, but after a quick glance, they decided to rent the place. It was simply because this place was perfect for business.

The two of them readily paid three months' rent and gave Qiu Weiguang a coat. Although they felt a little sad to give away a coat before the store opened, they were happy to help him.

He has done such a great favor, we should thank him.
