Chapter 8 You're Dreaming

Chapter 8 You're Dreaming

The visitor was Zhang Shuangping, the niece of Second Aunt Zhang Chuntao. Her clothes were brand new: a dark red jacket, black corduroy trousers, and a pair of shiny leather shoes.

She twisted her waist and walked into the yard, and walked up to Deng Zhiming with a distressed look on her face, "Zhiming, how did you get into this state?"

Deng Zhiming forced a smile and said, "We're digging a cellar. Why are you here?"

"My second aunt is not feeling well, so my parents and I came to visit her." Zhang Shuangping reached out to brush the dirt off Deng Zhiming, but he backed away. Zhang Shuangping's face was filled with grievance.

"Shuangping and I were classmates." Deng Zhiming looked at Gu Yimin and explained to her. Gu Yimin smiled and said nothing. She was not stupid, so how could she not see that Zhang Shuangping was interested in Deng Zhiming?

Gu Siqing narrowed her eyes. How come she had never heard that Deng Zhiming and Zhang Shuangping were classmates in her previous life? Looking at the two of them, they were definitely more than just classmates!

However, it would be great if there really was something fishy going on between them. If I could find some evidence against them, I could still get my parents to agree to call off the marriage.

"You work for a state-owned enterprise, how can you do such rough work?" Zhang Shuangping said as he glanced at Gu Yimin with a provocative look.

"People from state-owned enterprises can't work? State leaders are still working in the fields." Gu Yimin's face darkened. She was kind, but she couldn't let anyone bully her. She also became dissatisfied with Deng Zhiming. What was his intention in attracting women to her house?

Gu Jianguo and Wang Yueju were also unhappy. There were many sons-in-law who worked for their father-in-law's family, so why was Deng Zhiming not allowed to do so? Besides, this was the first time Deng Zhiming had worked for their family in the year since their engagement.

Gu Siqing was intrigued by this, and her eyes lit up as she looked at Zhang Shuangping. Come on, keep up the cool moves!

She was about to stir up the fire when she saw Deng Zhiming bending down and starting to clean up the dirt beside the cellar. He looked like he didn't mind the dirt, the hard work, or the fatigue. He kept saying, "Yimin is right. Why can't I work?"

Zhang Shuangping's eyes reddened at his words, and he snorted and turned away. Seeing Deng Zhiming working tirelessly, the anger in Gu Yimin and Gu Jianguo's heart subsided a lot.

Gu Siqing was so angry. Damn, she didn't expect Deng Zhiming to be so cunning.

Gu Yimin brought a thermos from the kitchen, poured the hot water into a basin, added some cold water, and asked Deng Zhiming to wash his hair. The hair oil mixed with the dirt was really dirty.

Deng Zhiming looked at Gu Yimin with a bit of infatuation. Gu Yimin was pretty, and in Deng Zhiming's eyes, every movement she made was beautiful.

He walked over and looked at Gu Yimin affectionately, "Yimin, Zhang Shuang and I..."

"Brother Zhiming," Gu Siqing walked over, "What do you do at the grain station?"

Deng Zhiming: Is it illegal to hit my future sister-in-law?

Deng Zhiming was so upset. Why are you everywhere? But he knew that Gu Yimin doted on this little girl, so he could only suppress the urge to hit her and said with a smile: "I am mainly responsible for the work of public grain."

Gu Siqing opened her eyes wide, looking very interested, so Deng Zhiming had to keep talking. Finally, after washing her hair, Gu Siqing was still asking him questions.

Want to be alone with a beautiful woman? You’re dreaming!

Deng Zhiming left around eleven o'clock, using the excuse that he had something to do at home. Gu Yimin walked him to the gate of the courtyard, accompanied by the annoying Gu Xiaosi. In the end, he could only leave with a lot of anger.

Not to mention holding hands or kissing, there's not even a chance to say a few dirty words.

Zhang Shuangping stood in the yard of Gu Jiancheng's house, watched Deng Zhiming ride away on his bicycle, gritted his teeth and went back into the house.

Zhang Chuntao lay in bed, a cap on her head, looking like she was in confinement. Yesterday, Gu Jiancheng slapped her, and she had asked Gu Xuebin to go to her parents' house to complain. Today, her elder brother and sister-in-law were here.

Gu Jiancheng was, of course, reprimanded and made a promise not to play mahjong or hit anyone again. As for the incident in which Zhang Chuntao spilled her rice bowl and burned the old woman's hand, the Zhang family didn't mention it.

"What's wrong? You look so ugly." Zhang Shuangping's mother Ge Fenglian asked when she saw her daughter coming in with a bad look on her face.

Zhang Shuangping sat down, lowered her head, pursed her lips and said nothing. Ge Fenglian loved her daughter very much, and seeing her like this made her feel distressed. She asked again, "Why don't you tell me something?"

"I saw Deng Zhiming."

Ge Fenglian stopped talking. What did she say?

Zhang Shuangping and Deng Zhiming were indeed classmates, and Zhang Shuangping had a crush on Deng Zhiming, once shyly writing him a letter. Deng Zhiming was not a good person to begin with, and after receiving the letter, he started dating Zhang Shuangping.

The two of them, one interested and the other wanting to take advantage, progressed rapidly. Within a month, they not only held hands but also kissed. Zhang Shuangping and his family thought that the relationship between them was a sure thing.

Unexpectedly, one day Deng Zhiming saw Gu Yimin who was going to the market in the town. He was shocked by her beauty and began to think about marrying her home.

Zhang Shuangping definitely didn't agree to break up, but Deng Zhiming took out the letter Zhang Shuangping had written to him and said that if he didn't agree to break up, and if he dared to say anything bad in front of Gu Yimin and her family, he would make the letter public.

Zhang Shuangping could only suffer this loss in silence, because among the letters she wrote, two were particularly explicit and full of obscene words. If they were made public, she would have no chance of living as a human being.

"What's going on?" Zhang Chuntao didn't know what happened between Zhang Shuangping and Deng Zhiming.

Zhang Shuangping still wanted to marry Deng Zhiming, so she told Zhang Chuntao about it. She knew that Zhang Chuntao and the eldest wife of the Gu family were not on good terms, and she might be able to ruin the marriage between Gu Yimin and Deng Zhiming.

Sure enough, Zhang Chuntao didn't let her down. She asked, "Does Deng Zhiming's family know that you two were dating?"

Zhang Shuangping shook his head, "I don't know."

Zhang Chuntao sat up straight and curled her lips. "Let me tell you, Deng Zhiming's parents didn't agree with the marriage between Deng Zhiming and Gu Yimin. But Deng Zhiming made such a fuss that they had no choice but to agree."

"Why?" Ge Fenglian asked. Gu Yimin was known throughout the village for her good looks. However, all four daughters of the Gu family were good-looking.

Zhang Chuntao had a smug look on her face. "What else could it be? Wang Yueju gave birth to four girls in a row. Girls all look like their mothers. Her four girls are destined to give birth to girls in the future, too."

On the day Deng Zhiming and Gu Yimin got engaged, she told Deng Zhiming's mother this. Her face was as dark as the bottom of a pot. She thought the marriage would never happen, but it ultimately did.

Zhang Shuangping and Ge Fenglian's eyes lit up when they heard her words. In their minds, Deng Zhiming was an absolutely perfect marriage candidate. Putting aside his appearance, the fact that he was a commodity grain producer and had an uncle who worked at the county police station was a rare combination in Shanshui Town.
