Chapter 9 Something Happened to Xiaobao

The next morning, when Su Nianmei woke up, she saw a little kid sleeping next to her and felt very weird.

His little body curled up into a ball, his mouth still opening and closing, making people want to hold him in their arms.

Looking at the watch in the light, it was past six o'clock. Su Nianmei woke up the little boy, took him to wash up, and went to school.

When entering the school gate, the little boy was still in a daze, but he didn't look unhappy. He walked in holding the principal's hand, and turned around and waved to Su Nianmei.

Su Nianmei's heart slowly settled down.

She walked back home, found a more decent piece of clothing that belonged to the original owner and put it on. She simply tied her hair up behind her head, looking very energetic. After dressing up a little, he reported to the purchasing office of the hospital with his temporary employment letter.

Although the Procurement Office is located in the academy, its office is also located in the military region.

Su Nianmei was stopped once on the way. She showed her temporary employment letter and the soldier on guard let her in.

She recalled the route Ma Fang had mentioned in her mind and followed the winding road into the military area.

The Procurement Office is located in a relatively remote area. To get to it, you have to go around a long circle from the training ground. It is in a small house behind the training ground.

Su Nianmei looked up at the wooden sign, on which were written three big characters "Purchasing Office" in strong brushstrokes. Looking more closely, the wooden sign was covered with a layer of fine dust.

The front door was open and polished to a shine. The light in the room was a little dim. Su Nianmei leaned inside and saw a table right in front of her with two chairs next to it. The person in the room had his back to her.

Su Nianmei reached out and knocked on the door. "Hello, I'm here to report."

The man in the room turned around quickly and put his hands behind his back in a very quick motion. The sunlight outside was a bit dazzling, and he squinted his eyes to look over. A thin figure was standing outside the door.

The man frowned slightly, thinking that Lao Liu was too unreliable. He stuffed people who were so skinny that they were almost as thin as a pole into their place. Most of the people doing here were doing hard labor. But he did not express his dissatisfaction explicitly. He waved to the visitor and asked her to come in.

After a brief conversation, Su Nianmei learned that the man in the room was Zhou Dayong, the director of the hospital's procurement office.

He looked to be in his forties, with a slightly plump body, but he always had a smile on his face and a pair of small moustaches that twitched when he laughed.

Although he was smiling, Su Nianmei always felt that he was difficult to approach.

He reached out and patted Su Nianmei on the shoulder, acting like a good leader and said, "Since you have chosen our purchasing office, you must do a good job."

Su Nianmei nodded, took out the temporary employment certificate and handed it to Director Zhou. Before she could say a few words, Ma Fang rushed in from outside.

Breathing heavily.

While running, he was still shouting Su Nianmei's name.

Su Nianmei's expression changed slightly, and she reached out to pat Ma Fang's back to help her calm down.

"Xiao, Xiaobao." Ma Fang panted and spoke, her voice stuttering, "Xiaobao, something happened to him."

Su Nianmei's hand on her back suddenly tightened.

"Something happened? What happened?"

Ma Fang took a break and calmed down. "Xiaobao had a fight with a classmate and was injured. He was just sent to the hospital. Teacher An came to look for you but couldn't find you. He happened to run into me, and I thought you must be here. So I ran over here."

Ma Fang glanced at Zhou Dayong secretly, and the other party frowned even deeper. She was worried in her heart that Zhou was known as a miser among the outside world. I don’t know if he is willing to let Su Nianmei go.

When Su Nianmei heard this, she no longer cared about the employment procedures. She apologized to Director Zhou and prepared to run away.

"stop!"

As she reached the door, there was a loud noise behind her, the sound seemed to be able to penetrate the roof.

Su Nianmei stopped and turned her head to look back with a frown on her face.

Ma Fang's heart also tightened.

Zhou Dayong went into the inner room and rummaged around for a while, then came out, pushing a brand new 28-inch bicycle in his hand and handed it to Su Nianmei.

Su Nianmei was stunned.

Zhou Dayong waved his hand towards Su Nianmei and said, "Go quickly, the child is still in the hospital."

Su Nianmei felt a warm feeling in her heart immediately. She thanked Zhou Dayong repeatedly and hurriedly rode her bike to the military hospital.

In the military hospital, Ji Yuan had just put down the fruit basket and was walking out of the ward when he saw a familiar figure running in from the door.

Seeing the hurried look, he paused and followed the man.

When Su Nianmei arrived, there was a little girl squatting at the door of the emergency room, with her hands on her knees and her eyes staring blankly ahead, looking pitiful.

Su Nianmei looked around and saw that there was no one else around, so she walked up and asked, "Are you Teacher An?"

The little girl on the ground blinked and slowly came back to her senses. He let go of his knees with both hands, and struggled to stand up. He was swaying, with tears in his eyes. He straightened up and bowed deeply to Su Nianmei, his voice trembling a little, "Yes, I'm sorry!"

Seeing this, Su Nianmei's temper was reduced to only three points.

He helped the little girl up, pressed his brows with his fingers, and tried to make his tone calm, "Xiaobao, how are you now?"

Teacher An was about to cry. "Doctor, the doctor said that they are still trying their best to treat him."

After another pause, he said, "Not yet out of the way."

Teacher An's voice became even quieter.

"Life is in danger!"

Su Nianmei felt her head swelling, and she was a little dazed when she saw the words "Rescue in Progress" on the closed door of the emergency room.

The hand that was supporting Teacher An suddenly dropped down. He clenched his fists weakly.

Then he seemed to have strength suddenly, grabbed Teacher An's collar, and said in a nearly hoarse voice, "What happened?"

Teacher An's neck was pinched and he couldn't say anything. He could only cough.

Ji Yu'an rushed out quickly, trying to separate the two of them. He reached out to pull Su Nianmei but found that he couldn't move. I secretly complained that this little girl was quite strong.

Just as An Xin's face was about to turn red, the door of the emergency room suddenly opened.

A nurse came out from inside, holding a small folder with a lot of information on it. She looked at the farce outside as if it was nothing and asked, "Who is the patient's family member?"

Su Nianmei suddenly let go of An Xin's hand, flashed to the nurse and said "It's me".

An Xin, who was put down, slid down the wall limply. Ji Yu'an stretched out an arm and handed it to An Xin. An Xin grabbed Ji Yu'an's arm and barely stood up. Her palms felt hot.

The nurse took off her mask and handed Su Nianmei the consent form for surgery.

"Our hospital has made an exception for late signing."

Su Nianmei looked at Teacher An squatting on the ground, feeling a little reluctant. She was too impulsive just now. She took a few deep breaths, and when her mood returned to normal, she said, "Teacher An, can you tell me what happened?"
