Chapter 126 First Year of Junior High

Perhaps due to exhaustion, both Xia Jianguo and Li Chunmei woke up late.

When they came out of the room, Xia Minmin had already packed her things and was carrying her schoolbag, ready to register.

Xia Jianguo, his hair a mess, asked, "Xiaomin, are you all ready? Are you going to school to register now? Have you had breakfast?"

"Yes, Mengmeng and I have already made plans. We'll go to register ourselves today and have breakfast out with Mengmeng."

Li Chunmei quickly went back to her room, took out a stack of money, and handed it to Xia Minmin. "Since you made an appointment, we won't see you off. Take care of yourselves, keep your tuition fees safe, and don't lose them."

"Okay, Mom."

After Xia Minmin finished speaking, she changed her shoes, pushed open the door, and left.

Xia Jianguo and Li Chunmei watched their daughter grow from a short, chubby little gas cylinder into a young woman, and they felt very gratified.

"Want to sleep a little longer?"

“We should open a shop too. We need to work hard to make money in the second half of the year. You also promised Xiaomin that you would buy a house in Beijing.”

"Didn't you say that? I never said that."

"Whether you say it or I say it, isn't it all the same? The point is to buy a house!"

Xia Jianguo and Li Chunmei bickered like children, and then went to wash up together.

The summer morning sun was still so intense. To avoid direct sunlight, Xia Minmin made a point of wearing a hat and a light jacket. Although it was a bit hot, it was worth it to avoid getting a tan.

"Xiaomin, I'm here." Tang Meng's voice came from behind.

The two sisters bought two loaves of bread and ate them with milk as they walked.

Tang Meng said, "Xiao Min, why do I feel like you've grown taller recently? I remember you were a head shorter than me before summer vacation, but I didn't expect you to be about the same height as me now."

"Really? I haven't measured my height in a long time."

Xia Minmin has no sense of her height. She has been busy every day during the summer vacation and hasn't measured her height for two months.

Tang Meng's expression was slightly exaggerated, "Yes, how could I not? I didn't notice it when I was with you every day during the summer vacation, but after going back for ten days, I could clearly feel that you have really grown taller."

When Xia Minmin heard the news that she had grown taller, she even smiled.

"When I get home today, I'll have to ask my dad to take my measurements properly."

The gate of No. 5 Middle School came into view, and as soon as I stepped into the campus, I smelled the rich fragrance of osmanthus.

Tang Meng excitedly shook Xia Minmin's arm, "Xiaomin, thanks to you, I was able to get into No. 5 Middle School."

Upon entering the school gate, I saw many people gathered in front of the bulletin board.

Xia Minmin said, "It's probably a list of the prettiest girls in each class."

Tang Meng pulled Xia Minmin and squeezed her way to the front of the bulletin board.

"I heard that Class 1 and Class 2 are experimental classes."

"This year, there will be a maximum of 10 classes."

"I've heard that classes are divided according to exam scores. The top scorers are in Class 1 and Class 2, and the rest are randomly assigned."

"Following the tradition of previous years, Class 1 and Class 2 are small classes with 30 students each. The other classes have 50 students each."

"Thirty students in a class, that's a lot of pressure!"

“My mom told me that there was a student in the class who was only seven years old.”

"Really?"

Tang Meng heard the unfamiliar classmates talking and tugged at Xia Minmin's hand.

"Of course it's true! My mom is a seventh grader, and this story has been circulating throughout the school for a long time."

"I might know who you're talking about?"

"Who is it? Don't keep me in suspense."

"My classmate Xia Minmin skipped a grade and is now in sixth grade this fall."

Xia Minmin recognized the voice; she guessed it belonged to a sixth-grade classmate.

"You're not lying, are you?"

“If you don’t believe me, look at Class 1 of Grade 7. The first place is Xia Minmin.”

Originally looking for their own classmates, they all flocked to the class roster.

"It really is Xia Minmin!"

"After classes officially start, I want to go to Class 1 to see her and see how she's different from us."

"I want to go too."

After reviewing the roster, Tang Meng took Xia Minmin out.

"Xiaomin, I reckon a lot of people will come to visit you after school starts."

Xia Minmin felt embarrassed just thinking about the scene. "I don't understand what's so interesting about it. They all have one nose, two eyes, and one mouth. I'm not a monkey in a zoo."

Tang Meng was amused by Xia Minmin's words, "That's great, we can be in the same class again. It's not like my efforts over the past few months have been in vain. Even though you're at the beginning and I'm at the end, I'm still content."

Xia Minmin said, "Then let's try to be in the same class in high school."

"Okay, then you have to tutor me."

"no problem!"

Weren't you in the same class as me in college?

"I haven't decided what to major in college yet, it's so hard to choose!"

"Don't rush, there are still six years. Let's take it slow. I'll accompany you to find your goal."

Tang Meng and Xia Minmin smelled the fragrance of osmanthus flowers and looked at each other simultaneously.

Let's go eat osmanthus cake later!

The two of them were amused by their unspoken understanding.

It's really not easy to find such compatible friends. Xia Minmin and Tang Meng are both only children, and they get along like sisters.

Tang Meng said, "Let's hurry up and register, or we'll be too late!"

Xia Minmin quickly grabbed Tang Meng, who was rushing forward, "Wait a minute, do you know which floor we are on?"

Tang Meng tapped Xia Minmin's head, "Of course I know, do you think I'm like you! You little directionally challenged person!"

After saying that, Tang Meng pulled Xia Minmin away.

Tang Meng was also puzzled. Xia Minmin, who was usually excellent in academics and sports, had a very poor sense of direction. She couldn't read a map and would walk the same route ten times before she knew the way. Moreover, she had a poor memory for faces and couldn't remember classmates she had only met a few times.
