Chapter 66 Daily Life (Part 3)

Xia Minmin's daily life became: attending classes during the day and Sanda (Chinese kickboxing) classes at night from Monday to Friday; reviewing junior high school knowledge and strengthening her English on weekends; and spending an hour reading classical Chinese books every day.

The blackboard at the back of the sixth-grade classroom was originally decorated with beautiful drawings, but since the sixth graders are about to enter junior high school, the blackboard has been requisitioned to display various documents and report cards.

"Don't push, I haven't finished pasting the report cards yet!"

Have you seen it?

"No, but I guess Xia Minmin will be the first place winner."

"Is Xia Minmin going to be first in the monthly exam again?"

"Ever since she came to sixth grade, she has never lost the first place, and Cheng Hao has become the perennial runner-up."

"Cheng Hao is so pitiful!"

"There's nothing we can do. That little pervert only deducts 1 or 2 points each time!"

After painstakingly posting the report cards, the classroom erupted in an uproar.

"Xia Minmin is in first place again!"

The sound reached the front of the classroom.

Tang Meng was very excited and kept shaking Xia Minmin with her hands, "Xiao Min, you're number one again."

Xia Minmin straightened her clothes, which had been pulled askew, and said, "Calm down, this is basic procedure."

She didn't say it, but she was really happy inside. Being number one was not an easy thing for her; it was the result of her hard work day after day.

"Mengmeng, did your family move to Dudu Garden today?"

Xia Minmin had previously heard Tang Meng mention the moving date.

"Yes, now we can go to and from school together every day."

Ring ring…

Class has started.

Teacher Wang was surrounded by dark energy; anyone with eyes could see he was in a bad mood. Avoid trouble! Avoid trouble!

Snap!

Teacher Wang slapped the lesson plan and test paper onto the podium.

"What's wrong with you all? You're about to take the entrance exam for junior high school, and your grades are still so inconsistent!"

"Look at your math scores! Only ten people got 80! With scores like that, you think you can get into the school next door? Dream on!"

Teacher Wang kept tapping the blackboard eraser on the podium. Xia Minmin, who was sitting below the podium, looked miserable as all the chalk dust from the eraser landed on her face.

"You are the worst class of students I have ever taught. I have never seen a class worse than you."

Sure enough, every teacher says the same thing.

"Now, the test papers will be distributed! Everyone whose name I call, come up and get your test papers."

The students, who were all smiles during recess, now looked like wilted eggplants after a frost.

As the number of test papers on the podium decreased one by one, Tang Meng tightened her grip on her hands, showing her nervousness.

"Tang Meng, eighty-five."

Tang Meng breathed a sigh of relief and happily ran up to the podium.

"This time you've made great progress. If you keep this up, getting into the school next door shouldn't be a problem."

"Understood, Teacher Wang."

"Xia Minmin, 100 points."

"Keep up the good work. The teacher's bonus depends on you!"

"Teacher, I will try my best."

"Not just try, definitely!"

After class, Tang Meng ran to the back to look at her report card and came back with a beaming smile.

Xia Minmin kept wiping the table with a tissue. "How much improvement have you made this time?"

"Eighteenth in the grade!" Tang Meng was very proud; her hard work had paid off.

Tang Meng suddenly grabbed Xia Minmin's hand, "Thank you, Minmin! I wouldn't have improved so quickly if it weren't for you!"

"We're like family! Don't be so mushy, it's giving me goosebumps."

Xia Minmin stretched out her goosebump-covered arm in front of Tang Meng.

Tang Meng gently patted Xia Minmin.

...

Luo Yang held Li Chunmei's hand and said, "Chunmei, I really have to thank you and Jianguo for helping me buy this house. I never expected that even real estate agents couldn't find any properties in Dudu Garden."

"Sister Yang, don't be so polite. We live here, so we naturally know more than you. It's just a matter of a word."

Luo Yang sighed, "It's all for the sake of the children's education."

Li Chunmei shared the same sentiment; they wouldn't have bought this house back then if it weren't for Xiaomin's education.

Li Chunmei casually asked, "Sister Yang, how much did your house ultimately cost per square meter?"

"More than nine thousand five hundred!"

"How can it be so expensive!" Li Chunmei was shocked by the price Luo Yang quoted.

"The best primary, middle, and high schools in Shenzhen, as well as a top-tier hospital, are all concentrated here. How could it not be expensive? It's so hard to buy when there's demand but no supply! You bought it just in time."

"Yes, we were really lucky. Shenzhen is bringing good fortune to our family. Yang-jie, I'm going back to the supermarket now, it's almost time to go home from school."

Li Chunmei got up to say goodbye.

Luo Yang escorted Li Chunmei downstairs. "Remember to come over for dinner at 5:30! After dinner, we'll take Xiaomin and Mengmeng to their Sanda class."

"good!"

...

Li Chunmei returned to the supermarket, where Xia Jianguo was restocking the shelves; the supermarket's peak customer traffic was approaching.

Li Chunmei also stepped forward to help organize the shelves. "Jianguo, you know what? Xiaomin told us to change the supermarket's business focus from targeting residents of the community to targeting students, and business has improved a lot."

"Children understand each other best. This makes things much easier for us. We're only busy with school and getting to and from school. Oh, by the way, Aunt Hua and Aunt Chun said they'll be coming over a little later this afternoon."

"I know, we're so grateful to have them during this time. It's not easy for them either, working three jobs a day. We'll give them a bigger bonus at the end of the month."

"Well, I wonder when the compensation from the construction site will come through. That way, the two sisters can have an easier time."

Xia Jianguo moved several boxes from the warehouse and placed them next to the out-of-stock shelves.

Li Chunmei helped restock the goods, saying, "Jianguo, Sister Yang said we're having dinner at their house tonight."
