It snowed yesterday, and the sun is out today to melt the snow. It's very cold outside. If you take your hands out of your down jacket pocket without gloves, you can feel the biting cold.
Li Chunmei and Xia Jianguo took Xia Minmin back to the hotel for a midday rest.
Back in the room, everyone eagerly took off their down jackets. It had been a long time since they had worn such thick clothes, and they were not used to it.
After taking off her down jacket, Xia Minmin couldn't wait to move her hands and feet.
Li Chunmei said with a smile, "If you're so unaccustomed to the climate in Beijing, what will you do when you come to Beijing to go to university?"
Xia Minmin said, "This time the stay was too short, and I didn't have time to get used to it. It will be fine when I have more time."
Dudu…
Xia Jianguo had already boiled the water. He poured a cup of hot water for the mother and daughter, and after letting it cool slightly, they felt warm from the inside out.
Xia Jianguo said, "I didn't expect things to go so smoothly. If the transfer is completed this afternoon, we can return to Shenzhen tomorrow morning. Should we buy morning plane tickets?"
Li Chunmei said, "Let's buy afternoon tickets. Morning tickets are too rushed. We also need to buy some souvenirs to take back. Oh, and don't forget to call Jiang Hao to reschedule."
Xia Jianguo put his finger to his lips. "Shh, Xiaomin is asleep. Let's keep our voices down. I'll call him as soon as I book the tickets."
Li Chunmei got up, put her daughter's exposed hand under the blanket, and tucked the blanket in.
"She fell asleep so quickly."
"Children need to eat and sleep well to grow up healthily."
Xia Jianguo turned on the TV in the room and turned the volume down to the lowest setting. He and Li Chunmei leaned against the headboard to watch TV.
They were only brought back to reality by the 2 o'clock alarm clock.
Xia Minmin rolled over and buried her head in the blanket, seemingly having slept poorly; her disrupted biological clock was making her very uncomfortable.
Seeing that Xia Minmin had woken up, Li Chunmei's voice became louder.
Li Chunmei combed Xia Minmin's hair and said, "This homeowner is so strange. He actually wants us to bring 260,000 yuan in cash to the transaction. Is he crazy? He's not afraid of being robbed at the housing management office with so much money."
"Maybe he has a lot of connections in Beijing and won't be afraid of being robbed. Let's get Xiaomin's hair done and then we should set off."
After walking for twenty minutes, Xia Jianguo and his group found the housing management office. They withdrew 30,000 yuan in cash from the bank opposite the office and put it in Li Chunmei's backpack.
Pushing open the bank's curtain, I saw Sister Chen stamping her feet and rubbing her gloved hands back and forth as she stood at the entrance of the housing management office, looking around.
As soon as Xia Jianguo and his group came out, they were spotted by Sister Chen, who waved and said, "Hey, over here."
Xia Jianguo and his group dodged the crowd and walked to the housing management office across the street.
Li Chunmei said, "Sister Chen, have you been waiting for a long time?"
Sister Chen waved her hand, "No, I was afraid you wouldn't know the exact location since it's your first time here, so I'll wait for you outside. We'll go in first."
Xia Jianguo asked, "Don't we need to wait for the homeowner?"
Sister Chen shook her head, "No need, he's a local, and it's not his first time here. He's very familiar with this place."
Sister Chen lifted the curtain and let Xia Jianguo and the others go in first.
The housing management office was well-heated, and there were very few people handling business. The staff members sat in twos and threes chatting.
Upon entering, my pores felt refreshed, as if I had been reborn.
Sister Chen led Xia Jianguo and his family to a seat and poured them three cups of hot water. "You all sit down for a while and chat with your friends. We'll handle the business when the homeowner arrives."
When the staff at the housing management office saw that it was an acquaintance, they stood up to greet her and gave Ms. Chen a seat.
"Sister Chen, what brings you here today?"
"Isn't that obvious? Sister Chen must have just finished selling the house before she came to transfer the title."
"Sister Chen, your business is really booming! This is your tenth order this month, right? It's making me want to sell houses with you." The woman who spoke was pretty and seemed to come from a well-off family.
Sister Chen laughed and said, "I don't believe you can endure that kind of hardship, riding your bike to take customers to see houses all year round."
"Exactly, she definitely can't handle that hardship. She's just saying it; it's not to be taken seriously."
The staff leaned slightly closer to Sister Chen and whispered, "This buyer today seems quite wealthy. Is he in business?"
"I'm not too sure about that. I only know that they came from Shenzhen, but they are indeed very rich, able to come up with two or three hundred thousand at a time."
“Shenzhen, if someone can come up with so much money, they must be in business. No matter what business you do in Shenzhen, you can make money. My classmate does business in Shenzhen and came back to buy a house after only a year.”
"Unlike our salaries, a month's salary can't even buy one square meter of housing in Beijing."
"Who can argue with that? A lot of my friends have recently started their own businesses and they're doing quite well. It's making me itchy to do the same."
The curtain of the housing management office was lifted, and a cold wind blew into the room. Xia Minmin shivered, and the three of them looked towards the door.
The man who came in was very burly and about 1.9 meters tall.
Sister Chen quickly got up after seeing him.
Xia Minmin thought to herself, no wonder he dared to swagger around on the street with more than 200,000 yuan in cash. With that physique, probably not many people would dare to mess with him.
Sister Chen introduced them, and his opening remarks completely overturned everyone's impressions; his voice was very gentle and unlike his outward appearance.
"Liao Wei."
"Xia Jianguo".
Seeing the surprised expressions on the Xia family's faces, Sister Chen laughed and said, "Were you fooled by his appearance? Did you think he was a gangster?"
