Chapter 15 New Year's Eve (Part 1)

"It's alright, children recover quickly, they'll be fine after a rest."

"By the way, Second Sister-in-law Xiaomin didn't spend any money, here's the rest for you."

"Keep the rest of the money for yourself. I'm going to help your second brother cook. Keep an eye on Xiaomin." Li Chunmei pushed the remaining money back to Xia Xiaomei.

When Xia Minmin woke up, the food was already laid out. Xia Jianguo took out a string of firecrackers, lit them outside, and then closed the door to eat.

Li Chunmei raised her glass, "Wishing my family a smooth and successful trip to Shenzhen in the new year!"

"Then I wish everyone good health."

"May the country be prosperous and the people at peace."

"Make a fortune."

After the speech, we started eating. There were few people in the family and the table was small, so we could only put six dishes on it.

"Jianguo, have you finished paying respects to your ancestors?"

"Brother, are you going now too?"

"Jianguo, Boss Cheng has made a fortune!"

"What kind of big boss am I? Don't make fun of me during the Chinese New Year."

There were many people paying respects to their ancestors in the afternoon. Since everyone was related to each other, it was inevitable that they would stop to exchange pleasantries.

"Chunmei, what were you arguing about with your sister-in-law yesterday? You were making so much noise, we could all hear you."

"We didn't argue, we were just exchanging feelings."

"Mom, did you and Auntie have a fight yesterday? How come I didn't know? When did you fight?" Xia Minmin came to Li Chunmei's rescue.

"Auntie, I told you you must have misheard. My daughter didn't hear anything at home."

Seeing that he couldn't get any information out of her, the neighbor said, "Chunmei, your daughter is incredibly clever."

"Auntie, you're busy. I'll take the child and leave now."

It seems the whole village knows their house was very lively last night.
