Chapter 361 The Waves of Jiangling Prefecture

Those were not the two women Lei Fangzhou had found in a brothel, nor were they young and beautiful women.

One is Cui Sanniang from Zhoujia Village, and the other is Huang Xiaoniang from Zhoujia Village.

These two women are mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. Cui Sanniang is the biological mother of Zhou Qi, who was killed, while Huang Xiaoniang is a woman who has recently married into the family.

After grieving the loss of her son, Cui Sanniang cried at home for a day and a night before deciding to go to the yamen to file a complaint.

The person who received them was Lei Fangzhou. The two women told Lei Fangzhou that the person who killed Zhou Qi was Wang Quan's man, because their son had accidentally overheard something he shouldn't have heard.

Lei Fangzhou hesitated only for a moment before deciding to bring the two men to Wang Quan, and he prepared 50,000 strings of cash.

Taking this opportunity, he wanted to rely on Wang Quan and use the people behind Wang Quan to leave this godforsaken place.

“Master Wang, this afternoon, two crazy women came to my place and said that you ordered someone to kill their son.”

Seeing Wang Quan's face immediately turn cold, Lei Fangzhou quickly added, "This is a complete frame-up. Master Wang is of noble character and a role model for us all. I heard that during this drought, Master Wang alone donated 200,000 strings of cash. I am ashamed of myself for not being able to do so!"

Wang Quan's expression immediately softened, and he asked, "Where are those two crazy women?"

"They're outside right now. I was planning to bring them here and hand them over to Master Wang for disposal!"

Wang Quan said menacingly, "Bring him in!"

Lei Fangzhou immediately went out, and soon after, someone brought in two women.

One was a middle-aged woman in her forties. She had worked in the fields for a long time, and her skin was tanned dark. She was hunched over and looked frail.

Her face was filled with sorrow and grief because of her son's tragic death.

The other woman was a sixteen-year-old girl. Although she wasn't particularly pretty, she was clean and tidy.

The middle-aged woman asked, "Shangguan, where is the murderer you mentioned now?"

Lei Fangzhou smiled and said, "Right in front of you!"

The middle-aged woman realized that the fat man in front of her was Wang Quan, who had killed her son.

She suddenly flew into a rage, completely unlike the woman who usually worked the land honestly; she seemed more like a warrior fighting on the battlefield.

This is a normal reaction from a mother who sees the enemy who killed her son.

She let out a strange cry and rushed towards Wang Quan without saying a word, but was grabbed by two soldiers and immediately pressed to the ground.

She didn't know where the strength came from, but she struggled desperately on the ground and almost broke free from one of the big men and knocked him to the ground.

"Give me back my son's life! Give me back my son's life!" Cui Sanniang screamed, her eyes bloodshot, her voice filled with anguish. She wished she could tear Wang Quan to pieces, drink his blood, and eat his flesh.

Wang Quan was furious. He suddenly stood up, grabbed an axe from the table next to him, and without hesitation, chopped the axe at Cui San Niang's head.

With a muffled thud, the axe struck his head, splitting it open.

Huang Xiaoniang, who was standing to the side, was so frightened that she almost fainted.

Wang Quan's face was covered in blood. He turned his head and revealed a ferocious smile before lunging at Huang Xiaoniang.

Huang Xiaoniang tried to run away, but was grabbed by someone.

She struggled desperately, but to no avail. All she could do was bite Wang Quan, who lunged at her, with her teeth.

Wang Quan was bitten and felt a sharp pain. He grabbed Huang Xiaoniang and strangled her. Because of his anger, he used a lot of force. Huang Xiaoniang's body was already weak, and he actually strangled her to death.

After strangling him, he simply tossed him aside.

Murder was something that was all too common for him.

Lei Fangzhou, however, was stunned. He was, after all, a government official, yet someone was committing violence right in front of him, completely disregarding him.

An anger rose in his heart, but it quickly subsided.

Clearly, anger is useless; promotion is the only thing that matters.

He began to comfort himself: I didn't kill the person, it has nothing to do with me.

Wang Quan clearly didn't shy away from Lei Fangzhou, because he knew why Lei Fangzhou had come to him.

We're all in the same boat. Even if Lei Fangzhou dared to report this matter, no one would take it seriously.

Wang Quan casually wiped the blood off his hands, then picked up his teacup and, imitating Lei Fangzhou, sipped his tea with great elegance. He laughed, the blood on his face making his features look even more grotesque.

"Lord Lei, thank you for the tea. Don't worry, I know what to do."

After Lei Fangzhou left, the image of Cui Sanniang being hacked to death kept replaying in his mind, and he could still hear Huang Xiaoniang's screams.

He had been in the position of town supervisor for more than ten years. Although he had not accomplished anything, he had never killed anyone indiscriminately. At most, he would only talk about small amounts of money.

He suddenly realized that he was not suitable for a promotion, and at least regretted bringing Cui Sanniang and Huang Xiaoniang with him.

It was already past midnight when I got back.

Lei Fangzhou tossed and turned, unable to sleep.

Suddenly, a bolt of lightning streaked across the inky black sky, illuminating the entire world in a ghastly white light.

Then came a thunderclap.

It was thunder in the summer, exceptionally loud, as if it were about to shatter the entire world.

Lei Fangzhou was so frightened that he fell off his chair and wet himself.

He seemed to hear the Heavenly Emperor in the ninth heaven raging.

"It's thundering! It's going to rain!"

Lei Fangzhou then realized that this meant the drought would be alleviated.

Before long, a cool breeze blew in from outside.

A little while later, sure enough, a torrential downpour began.

The torrential rains in July were like waterfalls.

A group of people left Jiangling City and headed towards Jinan Town.

Each of them wore a straw raincoat and had a crescent-shaped long sword at their waist.
