Chapter 46 The Great Victory at Licheng!

Zhao Huan sensed an overwhelming killing intent surging from ahead; it was Wanyan Loushi!

Yao Pingzhong was the first to rush forward. He lowered his body to avoid a Jin soldier's blade, and then drew an arc in the air with his long sword, slashing towards Wanyan Loushi.

Wanyan Loushi parried with his spear, and with a clang, Yao Pingzhong was thrown off his horse by a tremendous force. He rolled several times on the ground, dodging attacks from several Jin soldiers. If it weren't for the Song army coming to his aid, he would probably have died there.

Wanyan Loushi truly lived up to his title of "God of War of the Jurchens." His personal martial prowess was awe-inspiring. After defeating Yao Pingzhong, his killing intent did not diminish. His spear pierced towards Zhao Huan like a venomous snake, his attack domineering and fierce.

Zhe Keqiu lunged forward, wielding his broadsword to block Wanyan Loushi's attack. By this time, Zhao Huan had already led the Song army past Wanyan Loushi.

Wanyan Loushi roared angrily, which shook off Zhe Keqiu. He then turned around and quickly chased after Zhao Huan.

His movements were incredibly swift. With a slight tilt of his body, he used his spear to knock away five Song cavalrymen, tearing a gash in Zhao Huan's right side, and then charged at Zhao Huan again.

His spear shot towards Zhao Huan like lightning, but at that moment a long blade came out of nowhere and struck the spear. A powerful force erupted from the blade, and Wanyan Loushi's spear was suddenly shaken and deflected.

But then Han Shizhong, who was not far away, rode forward and shouted, "Traitor! Don't harm my lord!"

Although Han Shizhong's fame in later generations was not as great as Yue Fei's, his personal martial prowess was no less than Yue Fei's. According to unofficial historical records, Han Shizhong was incredibly strong and could easily draw a bow weighing a hundred catties!

Han Shizhong, wielding a long blade, rode up on horseback, not avoiding Wanyan Loushi, but facing him head-on, slashing at Wanyan Loushi with lightning speed.

Wanyan Loushi leaned back, and Han Shizhong's long blade swept across his neck like the wind. As the blade was withdrawn, Han Shizhong immediately pressed his body against the back of his horse and spurred his horse forward, avoiding Wanyan Loushi's counterattack.

The two then began to fight, and for a time it was difficult to determine a winner.

Zhao Huan led his troops forward, and Zhe Keqiu and Yao Pingzhong quickly followed the emperor's lead, protecting those around him.

The number of Jin troops is rapidly decreasing, and the situation is showing an overwhelming victory!

Zhao Huan stopped at some point, and when he did, he was surrounded by Song troops, while the Jin army in front of him was completely routed.

At this moment, Zhao Huan himself was also dumbfounded. Since going to the battlefield, his mind had been blank. Occasionally, when he had a thought, it was quickly overwhelmed by the battlefield. Now that he stopped, it was as if he had just woken up from a dream.

But the flames before my eyes and the shouts of battle all around me felt so real.

A cold wind rose, causing the Blood Dance to rise rapidly across the plains before freezing in the air, turning it into a scarlet powder. The entire battlefield resembled a hellish landscape.

"Your Majesty! Our army has won a great victory!"

Yao Pingzhong's excited voice rang in Zhao Huan's ears. The emperor was still in a daze, staring wide-eyed at his surroundings with bloodshot eyes.

The Song army continued its pursuit of the routed Jin troops, while the remaining Song soldiers began shouting, "Long live the Emperor! Long live the Great Song Dynasty!"

It felt as if a river was surging and roaring in his mind. Finally, the shouts from all directions pulled Zhao Huan back to reality. He gripped the knife, which was now stained red with blood, tightly. Veins bulged on his forehead, and his eyes revealed determination and iron will!

He raised the emperor's sword, his red cloak fluttering in the cold wind, and surrounded by his generals, the emperor declared to the world that the Great Song Dynasty had won!

At this point, Wanyan Loushi was in a desperate situation, fighting Han Shizhong for three hundred rounds. The two fought to a standstill, but were surrounded by Song troops and seriously wounded. Before being captured, he killed three Song officers who were escorting him.

Wanyan Loushi was bound and escorted before the emperor. Zhao Huan dismounted and stared at Wanyan Loushi with murderous intent. The surrounding Song generals all said that Wanyan Loushi should be beheaded in front of the five armies to comfort the spirits of the soldiers who died in battle.

Every Song soldier was bloodthirsty. If Zhao Huan hadn't personally ordered Wanyan Loushi to be captured alive, Wanyan Loushi would probably have been torn to pieces.

Zhao Huan slapped Wanyan Loushi across the face, and felt incredibly satisfied!

The latter resembled a wounded lion, struggling but unable to break free. Zhao Huan coldly said, "Take this scoundrel away and keep a close watch on him!"

"Zhong Qing!"

"Your subject is here!"

Zhong Shidao was helped over. Like the other Song generals, the seventy-something-year-old Zhong Shidao was covered in blood. He had been slashed in the waist and had been bandaged.

Zhao Huan was shocked to see this. He had been so engrossed in the earlier charge that he had only now realized there was an elderly man in his seventies on the battlefield.

Zhao Huan rushed over to help him up, and the Song soldiers around him were moved to tears by the emperor's gesture.

When the emperor personally assists the commander-in-chief of the three armies, it signifies the respect shown to the three armies.

Zhong Shidao cannot die! He is one of the pillars of the Song Dynasty!

"Where is Han Shizhong?!"

"Your subordinate is here!"

"Quickly send General Zhong back to the city to heal his wounds!"

"Yes, sir!"

"The rest of you, follow me and continue the pursuit of the remaining Jin traitors, kill them to your heart's content!"

Yao Pingzhong said, "How dare we trouble the Emperor to come personally when we are a defeated army? I will immediately lead five hundred elite troops to annihilate the enemy!"

Zhao Huan cursed inwardly, "You Yao Pingzhong are greedy for credit, fine, but you even stole my chance to show off!"

On second thought, Zhao Huan felt that these opportunities to make meritorious contributions should indeed be given more opportunities, so that people would be willing to risk their lives for him.

He laughed and said, "Minister Yao, I order you to lead a thousand soldiers to annihilate the enemy. I want them all to be annihilated!"

"Your Majesty, I obey your command and will certainly not fail your grace!"

Yao Pingzhong was so excited that he led his men to chase after them, while Zhao Huan returned to the city in triumph.

Along the way, he saw corpses everywhere. Many Song soldiers died in extremely gruesome ways. Some were decapitated, some were cut in half at the waist with their internal organs spilling out, and some had weapons piercing their faces, leaving half of their faces gone.

He also saw severely wounded soldiers crawling desperately, crying out, "Please save me! I have an elderly, blind mother at home..."

Upon seeing this, Zhao Huan felt as if a giant mountain was pressing down on his heart, making it hard for him to breathe.

He asked Zhe Keqiu, "Where are the logistics medical officers? Why haven't they arrived to provide emergency assistance yet?"

"Your Majesty, I will go and take a look immediately!"

Zhao Huan's face was extremely pale. The war was already over, but the logistics and medical support had not arrived. You must know that he, the emperor, had personally led the troops in this war, and the logistics were still in such a state. What if the emperor hadn't come? Wouldn't these seriously wounded soldiers be left unattended?

Thinking of the rapid logistical response during the defense of Tokyo, Zhao Huan became increasingly dissatisfied with the logistical support this time.

Not long after, Zhe Keqiu reported: "Your Majesty, the physician Yuan Huan made a mistake due to drinking, which caused the people and doctors in the city to rush to the rescue, but no one was in charge for a long time. Fortunately, Chen Jiru rushed to help at the critical moment, but there was a slight delay!"

Looking at the firelight, Zhe Keqiu saw that the emperor's face was frighteningly gloomy, and his heart sank.

Holy crap! I'm out shopping, and someone still dares to drink and mess things up at a time like this!
