Chapter 7 Money or Life

Lin Xi in the photo was still incredibly handsome, but Fang Yao felt that he seemed different.

A hint of melancholy and sorrow crept into his eyes, as if he were bearing an endless burden.

"You mean, we've known each other for five years?" Fang Yao looked at Lin Xi in disbelief.

Lin Xi was slightly taken aback, then nodded.

"So you already guessed that I was the person you were looking for?" Fang Yao continued to press.

“That’s right. I’ve always suspected that you are the person I’ve been searching for, because you two are so alike!” A glint flashed in Lin Xi’s eyes, and her voice became excited.

Fang Yao pursed her lips slightly. She knew how much shock it would cause to those around her once her identity was revealed. However, she hadn't expected anyone to recognize her so easily.

Now that Lin Xi has seen through her, there's no need for her to hide her identity anymore.

Fang Yao reached out her hand to Lin Xi and said calmly, "Now that you've confirmed that I'm the person you're looking for, can you tell me what exactly happened back then, why you suddenly left the Fang Group, and even transferred the company to someone else?"

Fang Yao coldly questioned Lin Xi.

Lin Xi did not answer, her head lowered, her eyes filled with complex emotions, as if she were deep in thought.

After a long silence, he raised his head, his eyes resolute, his tone icy: "I don't know the reason why the Fang Group suddenly declined, and there must be secrets I don't know about. Moreover, this matter may be related to me!"

Fang Yao's pupils suddenly contracted; she hadn't expected Lin Xi to be so frank.

Could it be that all of this is really related to him?

Lin Xi's expression was serious, without a trace of jest, which made Fang Yao believe that he might really know some inside information.

"What exactly happened?" Fang Yao was filled with doubts and eagerly sought answers.

Lin Xi sighed softly and replied, "That was a meticulously planned traffic accident!"

"Was that car sent by you to deal with me?" Fang Yao pressed.

Lin Xi nodded in acknowledgment: "That's right, I sent the people, but I didn't expect this matter to involve so many people, even affecting the Lin family."

Fang Yao clenched her fists, shocked that the Lin family had also been involved!

"The Lin family's influence is truly considerable; they actually managed to hire assassins to deal with me!" Lin Xi smiled bitterly, then continued, "I'm not the kind of person you imagine! I've never used any woman, nor do I intend to. It's just that I didn't know your identity at the time. If I had known, I would have stopped them from harming you, even at the cost of my life."

Fang Yao raised her eyebrows slightly, unsure how to respond.

If Lin Xi's words came from the bottom of his heart, then this man might be trustworthy.

"Okay, then can you tell me why they tried to kill me?" Fang Yao continued to ask.

Lin Xi pondered for a moment, then replied, "You don't need to know too much. I just hope you can keep this a secret. After all, I care about your safety."

"So, you want me to remain silent about this?" Fang Yao snorted coldly.

This man is worried she'll reveal his secret? How absurd!

Lin Xi nodded in confirmation: "Yes, you can keep it a secret, but you have to keep it for me. If you dare to reveal it, I'll make you pay for it with your life."

After saying this, Lin Xi turned and left.

Fang Yao stood there, stunned, her heart pounding like a drum.

She believed Lin Xi's threat because they were the same kind of people!

Both are dangerous and difficult to deal with, especially Lin Xi.

She must proceed with caution.

Thinking of this, Fang Yao couldn't help but shudder.

Lin Xi left the coffee shop, got into her car, and closed her eyes to recall every detail of that time.

That scene is as clear as yesterday.

He was about to leave when he suddenly received a phone call saying that a big deal was waiting for him.

So he drove there, but his vision suddenly became blurry along the way.

He realized he had been injected with an anesthetic.

However, before he even woke up, he had already been kidnapped.

He was unconscious for the entire night and was not rescued until six in the morning.

When he awoke from his coma, it was noon. The sky was overcast, and it looked like it was about to rain. A gust of wind blew by, and he felt a bone-chilling cold.

Only then did he realize that he had been kidnapped.

His mouth was gagged, and he couldn't make a sound.

He couldn't calculate how long he had been asleep, nor did he know where he was. He only knew one cruel fact—he had been kidnapped and had fallen into the hands of human traffickers.

"I want to see Fang Yao, I want to see her right now!" Lin Xi shouted hoarsely, but only cold silence answered him.

At this moment, Lin Xi was severely exhausted and unable to fight against this group of strangers. His hands were bound, and he could only pace back and forth in the small space.

Suddenly, he sensed an unfamiliar presence approaching. He quickly looked around and was surprised to find that this was a place he had been before, the place where Fang Yao had been imprisoned.

"Fang Yao, Fang Yao..." Lin Xi called her name, her voice filled with anxiety.

Just then, Fang Yao entered the room and saw Lin Xi tied to a chair. Her eyes widened in surprise.

"How did you get here?" Lin Xi asked, full of doubt.

Fang Yao sneered and retorted, "You should be asking me that question!"

Lin Xi frowned, his gaze sweeping over the person beside Fang Yao. The person was dressed entirely in black, completely concealing his identity, and could only be identified as a man, but his face was indistinct.

"It was you...it was you who ordered them to arrest me, wasn't it?" Lin Xi asked cautiously.

The man nodded slightly and said, "I've investigated your background. You are indeed an influential entrepreneur in Jiangcheng. However, you have a powerful force supporting you. Those people are your parents."

Lin Xi was dumbfounded, unable to believe that his parents would collude with others to harm him. It was simply unbelievable!

"Impossible! Mom and Dad wouldn't do that! They wouldn't!"

The man scoffed, saying, "I believe they won't, but nothing is absolute. Your parents won't do it themselves, but don't forget, you have a younger brother, a spoiled brat. They might not treat your brother much better than they treat you!"

Lin Xi's expression changed drastically, and she felt a mix of emotions.

That's right!

His younger brother was his closest relative.

He would hate his parents intensely if they did something against their conscience because of him!

"So, Mr. Lin, rest assured, we're only after money and will never take your life. As long as you cooperate obediently, we won't harm you. After all, the wealth you possess is enough for us to profit from, so why not?" The man smiled coldly and whispered to Lin Xi.

Lin Xi remained silent, her eyes flickering, her heart filled with resentment!
