The impromptu press conference ended after midnight. Huo Yunchao won widespread praise from the media for his superb speech, sincere attitude, and down-to-earth approach.
In the marketing world, this press conference was hailed as a "classic crisis public relations case of 2010" and was even included in university marketing textbooks.
After standing on the stage for more than two hours, Huo Yunchao's steps were unsteady when he came off the stage, and his girl helped him up. "Senior Brother Qin, I'll take the beauty back. I'll leave things here in your care."
Xue Qiandai looked at Jian Yan, still thinking about creating opportunities for her best friend at this moment.
"Don't worry, I'm here." Qin Shu took the initiative to take on the mission of dispersing the press conference and escorting Jian Yan.
Jian Yan bit her lip tightly, her eyes stinging with tears. Because the root of all this was her good-for-nothing younger brother.
The Mercedes-Benz was driving on the way to Kunyu Bay. Xue Qiandai was driving steadily and fast. Huo Yunchao had his eyes half-closed. Physical fatigue was secondary; he was mainly exhausted. "Dai Dai, it's been a long time since you've been to Kunyu Bay."
With the light red, I almost stepped on the gas instead of the brake. "Isn't this supposed to be busy?"
The relocation of the coffee shop, the launch of new JinKa products, the release of autumn clothing, promotional marketing and micro-film shooting, and the investigation of her father's case—all these tasks consumed a lot of Xue Qiandai's energy.
Huo Yunchao pinched the bridge of his nose, his voice hoarse, "Sometimes I really wish you weren't so capable, and could still be as carefree as a pampered young lady. I'd build a golden cage and hide you away."
This sudden confession made Xue Qiandai blush and her breathing become heavier. "People always have to grow up, right?"
The red light turned green, and the cars moved forward. Suddenly, someone's stomach rumbled. They hadn't eaten yet and couldn't eat. "Honey, how about ordering some takeout?"
“We don’t eat takeout, I’ll make you some Yangzhou fried rice and a sunny-side-up egg.”
While takeout saves time, it also takes away a lot of fun; the aroma of cooking in the kitchen is the taste of home.
Xue Qiandai agreed. "The sunny-side-up egg should also be heart-shaped."
Upon arriving at Kunyu Bay, the two cooked together. Xue Qiandai diced carrots and sausages, while Huo Yunchao beat eggs and stir-fried them.
Looking at the ingredients that had been cut into pieces, Huo Yunchao praised them against his will, "My Dai Dai's knife skills are amazing!"
Xue Qiandai blinked her narrow eyes, "Hehe, beauty, doesn't your conscience hurt saying that?"
The sizzling sound was drowned out by the range hood. On this autumn day in September, they sat down for a simple home-cooked meal.
Not wanting food to turn into fat, Xue Qiandai dragged Huo Yunchao along for a walk in the neighborhood to digest. Huo Yunchao joked with her, "We can totally use another kind of exercise to burn calories."
Xue Qiandai: "..." She was ashamed of herself for being able to flirt so easily.
"My beauty, I'm starting to miss Snow Lion."
Huo Yunchao once said that he and she were family. He put his arm around her shoulder, pulling her close in his arms, "Dai Dai, we'll be reunited soon."
She blinked, not quite understanding what he meant, but it didn't matter. After washing up, the two of them rested. They hadn't exercised; they were too tired. But he held her the whole time, and the world felt warm.
*
Meanwhile, the whole world seemed to have forgotten Jian Yao. Even though he was the culprit, no one condemned or blamed him. Even when he was glaring at his colleagues, they were too lazy to even give him a hard look.
He slunk up to Jian Yan, looking aggrieved, and said, "Sister."
Jian Yan was exasperated and raised her hand high to slap him, but Qin Shu stopped her. "Jian Yao, everyone is paying the price for your childish behavior. Now, it's time to reflect on yourself. You decide your own path; your sister can't live your life for you."
“Brother-in-law…” He was undecided, directionless, and knew nothing.
"Don't call me brother-in-law." Qin Shu used to be too lazy to correct him, but now that he hadn't kept Jian Yao in check, he felt too guilty being called brother-in-law.
Qin Shu drove Jian Yan home, leaving Jian Yao alone to do whatever he wanted.
Under Jian Yan's direction, the car entered the underground parking garage, which was Qin Shu's first time there. "Let's go in and get something to eat. I'll cook some noodles."
Qin Shu rubbed his rumbling stomach and nodded.
"Please feel free to sit anywhere, or look around freely." The first floor of the villa was the studio of two girls, and some women's ready-to-wear clothing was hanging on mannequins. Qin Shu noticed a male mannequin wearing a black cashmere coat. It was a minimalist style with a large, distinctive metal button, and it was a size 180.
His eyes burned uncontrollably, and he touched them with his fingers—it felt so good. If this were displayed in a shopping mall, Qin Shu felt it would be worth over ten thousand yuan.
Seeing that Jian Yan hadn't come out for a while, he strolled to the kitchen. He thought Jian Yan was cooking noodles or instant noodles, but it turned out to be hand-pulled noodles. Her small body contained a lot of energy; she had just finished rolling out the dough.
The rest of the process was quick. Oil sizzled in the pan, two eggs were added, and finally, some chopped green onions were sprinkled on top, making it look vibrant green. It looked very appetizing.
"How about we eat in the courtyard? I'd like to eat while watching the stars," Qin Shu suggested.
Jian Yan was taken aback, not realizing that Qin Shu was such a refined person.
The night is gentle tonight. The roses in the courtyard sway softly.
The hand-pulled noodles were very chewy, and Qin Shu was sweating as he ate them. "Jian Xiaoyan, I remember when I robbed your lunchbox last time, I thought you were a good cook. I didn't expect you to be so particular about making noodles, and they tasted so good too."
Jian Yan exhaled softly and sipped her soup. "If it tastes good, eat more."
Qin Shu looked at her with bright eyes, "My stomach has become tough from eating too much takeout and gutter oil from restaurants. I'm afraid it will become spoiled after tasting good food."
Jian Yan froze for a moment, her eyes stinging with tears. She couldn't bring herself to say, "I'll cook for you from now on." Having experienced heartbreak, she dared not easily give her heart away again.
