At the entrance of the police station, a well-mannered young man was waiting for Jian Yan.
"Dai Dai, this is my senior from university, Yuan Mu. He's now an editor in the 'Fashion Vanguard' interview section." As she introduced him, Jian Yan's eyes crinkled with a smile. "Senior, this is…"
Yuan Mu reached into his pocket for his business card, then paused in surprise. After a moment of hesitation, he smiled and said, "Miss Xue, hello! I forgot my business card."
"Huh? You two know each other?" Jian Yan asked.
Yuan Mu smiled faintly. He knew Xue Qiandai, but Xue Qiandai didn't know him. "In our line of work, if you don't even know Miss Xue, you might as well quit."
Once the little princess of the capital's socialite circles, who in the world didn't know her? Just as Xue Qiandai jokingly put it, so many people were eager to interview her!
Normally, Xue Qiandai would probably make a joke, "Beware of fire, theft, and senior students," but at this moment, her mind was completely focused on Xue Shi, and she had no interest in teasing him. She simply nodded slightly in acknowledgment. "Hello."
"Get in the car, where to?" Huo Yunchao asked, holding the snow lion.
"The Dog Lovers Pet Shop." This was the place where Snow Lion was temporarily stored last time. Xue Qiandai added, afraid that he wouldn't know, "It's right across from the Yintai Building."
Jian Yan gently touched Yuan Muye, "Senior, how did you get here?"
"Huh?" Yuan Mu suddenly realized. Who were the people his junior from elementary school who knew? One was a former princess at the pinnacle of the elite, and the other was this man, now one of the hottest young entrepreneurs in the tech world, whose game had over 100 million daily active users in less than three years, and whose brand assets were conservatively estimated at over 100 million. The last issue's cover story, *Fashion Vanguard*, wanted to interview this big shot; several female interns drooled over his photo, their voices trembling when they tried to schedule a phone call, only to be decisively rejected. Today, Yuan Mu met the big shot in person.
What an incredible stroke of luck!
Bringing Yuan Mu back to reality, he was filled with excitement and stammered, "I... I took a taxi here."
Jian Yan glanced at Xue Qiandai, her eyes pleading, "Hey, can I hitch a ride?"
"Let's go together then, sit in the passenger seat." Xue Qiandai went to take the snow lion from Huo Yunchao's arms.
Huo Yunchao didn't let go, his face was stern, but his voice was gentle: "It's too heavy, you drive."
Don't be a third wheel.
As she spoke, Huo Meiren proudly carried the snow lion into the passenger seat, making a rather loud noise when she closed the door.
The snow lion licked its nose in despair. It didn't want the iceberg anymore, but wanted its owner to hug it. What could it do? Its owner smelled so good, so fragrant and soft.
Xue Qiandai's face darkened. A Tibetan Mastiff sitting in the passenger seat? Seriously? She didn't want to think about the consequences if they got caught by the traffic police.
But since her master had spoken, Princess Dai Dai dared not disobey. She obediently got into the driver's seat.
Jian Yan and Yuan Mu sat in the back row.
The Mercedes-Benz was high-performing, and the experienced driver, Xue Qiandai, was even more skilled, keeping the speed almost at the maximum speed limit. Throughout the journey, Jian Yan's small hands were clenched tightly, and she occasionally glanced at the people around her out of the corner of her eye. Yuan Mu was also rubbing his hands, pondering how to arrange the interview.
Half an hour later, we arrived at the dog-themed pet store.
Several people got off the bus.
"Miss Xue, you've arrived!" The pet store staff are always warm and professional when dealing with important clients.
"The snow lion is seriously injured, quickly take a look at it," Xue Qiandai said.
The shop assistant took the snow lion. The Tibetan mastiff reeked of blood, and his eyelids twitched involuntarily. Looking at the white foam coming out of the dog's mouth, it seemed to be a sign of poisoning.
The shop owner also came out and, after examining the animal, gave a clear diagnosis. "Snow Lion likely ingested rat poison, but fortunately it didn't ingest much and is not in mortal danger, but it needs its stomach pumped. The flesh wounds are also quite severe. My suggestion is for it to rest in the shop for a week before leaving."
Xue Qiandai's face paled. When had her Snow Lion ever suffered like this? Those hateful roommates! She suppressed her hatred because there was another thorny issue at hand: Snow Lion's medical expenses.
Even a socialite like her couldn't afford to be broke; she had to borrow money from Jian Yan to cover her living expenses before.
She didn't want him to see her at her most vulnerable. She lowered her eyes and remained silent.
His gentle words rang in his ears, and Huo Yunchao said calmly, "Then, swipe your card." He took out his wallet and a Golden Sunflower Card.
The pet shop owner glanced at Huo Yunchao; his white shirt was stained with blood, making him look quite disheveled. But even covered in dirt, his refined character and elegant demeanor were undeniable.
"Sir, Miss Xue is our store's VVIP. You can pay after Xue Shi has fully recovered." The boss is very good at business.
Huo Yunchao said, "Okay, I'll come pick up Xue Shi in a week."
Xue Qiandai suddenly looked up and stared blankly at Huo Yunchao.
"Let's go back first. The boss will take good care of Xue Shi." Huo Yunchao said this to Xue Qiandai.
The four of them left the pet store. The streetlights were already on; after all this commotion, it was already past eight o'clock in the evening.
“Let’s all have a meal together. Give me the chance to host,” Yuan Mu suggested.
Huo Yunchao turned on his Blackberry phone; there were two missed calls, both from Qin Shu. He wondered how their talks with Lingmei were going. "I have to go back; at least, I need to change into some clean clothes first."
Xue Qiandai was reluctant to see him leave, but she had no good excuse to keep him. She wanted to say "thank you," but it felt too inadequate; he had said that they didn't say thank you to each other.
Suddenly her stomach growled.
I'm so annoyed. My stomach is betraying me right now, and it's still in front of him.
Huo Yunchao couldn't help but chuckle, and naturally reached out to pull her along, saying, "You two go eat."
Xue Qiandai felt as if she had been struck by lightning. He actually took her hand and handed her a card, still warm from his touch.
