Hua Se walked with a graceful, alluring gait, until she reached the young man's side. "Aheng, you've come."
Then, she raised the corner of her eye and introduced him to the two girls: "My boyfriend, Jin Heng."
That sense of triumph is evident in the smile on his face.
A good man is the best label a woman can have.
Xue Qiandai just sneered, because Jin Heng's gaze was fixed on her without reservation, leaving no room for Hua Se.
Hua Se was both jealous and embarrassed.
The perceptive Jian Yan immediately sensed the strong gossip and realized something was fishy. "My Dai Dai is such a heartbreaker!"
"Jane, let's go," Xue Qiandai said reproachfully.
There were other owners in the tea bar, and they all turned to look at these people. Xue Qiandai didn't want to be observed; one of them might be an old friend of her father, and if she were recognized, she would be incredibly embarrassed.
The two girls walked out of the club, and Jin Heng chased after them again.
"Snow, let's talk in private." This time, he pulled Xue Qiandai aside and stared at her intently. "Tell me, how are you doing?"
Her gaze passed over Jin Heng's shoulder, then over Hua Se's infatuated expression behind him, and Xue Qiandai seemed to see someone, a face that haunted her dreams.
In truth, Xue Qiandai was grateful to Jin Heng. Because without him, she wouldn't have met her beloved Huo Meiren.
Jin Heng also thought about many things, and his feelings were complicated.
Jin Heng's father, Jin Jiang, was Xue Qiandai's father's business partner, and the two families had been doing business together for over twenty years.
Jin Heng started studying abroad in high school, attending Whitney High School, a notorious "4.0 GPA, 4 hours of sleep, 4 lattes" school. This means that students, in order to achieve the highest 4.0 GPA, only sleep 4 hours a day and drink 4 lattes to stay awake. Therefore, those who think studying abroad is easy are simply using a stereotype.
Although Jin Heng's achievement wasn't quite that dramatic, he persevered and achieved excellent results, ultimately succeeding in gaining admission to an Ivy League school.
Four years later, Jin Heng returned home after completing his undergraduate studies. According to his father, he should take over the family business. However, Jin Heng wanted to continue his studies at the graduate level, secretly hoping to stay in the ivory tower for a couple more years and enjoy these last happy and carefree days.
Jin Heng and Xue Qiandai first met at the Xue family villa. Jin Heng was accompanying his father and talking with Xue's father when he saw the girl walking down the retro double-curved staircase.
The girl wore a silk slip dress, her collarbones were excessively beautiful, slender and well-proportioned. Her purplish hair added to her cool beauty.
More importantly, from Jin Heng's perspective, he was looking up. Xue Qiandai stood on the stairs, and her model-like legs appeared even longer.
Jin Heng suddenly felt a heat in his nose.
He couldn't take his eyes off them for a long time, his gaze fixed on his two elderly fathers. Xue's father immediately suggested that Xue Qiandai take Jin Heng for a walk around the villa.
Xue Qiandai obeyed her father's orders and led her entourage to the garden. The garden was very large, easily a thousand square meters. The girl sat on the swing, swaying gently, and her first question was, "Is it pretty?"
Jin Heng was stunned by the question. Aren't Chinese girls supposed to be reserved?
"You've been staring at me for so long, isn't it because I'm prettier?" Confident girls are the most beautiful, especially when she asks so directly and frankly.
In truth, Xue Qiandai wasn't a traditional Chinese beauty; she didn't have willow-leaf eyebrows or almond-shaped eyes. However, Jin Heng happened to be Western-educated, with a more open and enlightened view of women, and his perception of female beauty leaned more towards Western standards. Xue Qiandai was very international; she perfectly matched his aesthetic sensibilities.
He smiled and readily admitted it.
"Have you met Justice Ginsburg in the United States?" Xue Qiandai asked, her eyes burning with the intensity of a fervent fan.
"No, but it's common in the news and online. Girls all over America, just like you, idolize her. Her image is printed on mugs, T-shirts, and even graffiti on walls. Even the president respects her."
Xue Qiandai was filled with pride, nodding like a chick pecking at rice, her little expression like an adorable Barbie doll. "That's right, she's my idol. She once said that if you can't find a partner in a school with a 4:1 male-to-female ratio, then there's no hope for your life. So, for the first two semesters of college, she didn't date the same person twice. Isn't that incredibly cool?"
Jin Heng scratched his head. "Girl, is this the reason you idolize your idol? Wow! Absolutely! He continued, "But then Ginsburg met Mr. Ruth, and from then on, she never had a date again."
Xue Qiandai was a little disappointed again. Fans always hope their idols are single, no matter if they are already in their seventies or eighties. "Sigh, you've never met her, so naturally you can't get her autograph."
Jin Heng secretly vowed that he would definitely hang around the Supreme Court when he went to the United States in the future and ask for an autograph.
Jin Heng and Xue Qiandai chatted for a long time. Young people always have a lot to talk about. When Jin Heng got home, he found that his heart had completely succumbed to her charm.
Love at first sight, hopeless.
Fortunately, he got his application for a graduate program at Tsinghua University, and Xue Qiandai happened to be studying at Tsinghua as well.
Being near the water gives you an advantage.
Upon entering the university, Jin Heng discovered that Xue Qiandai was a star student at Tsinghua University.
In fact, it is not surprising that a few children of wealthy families, high-ranking officials, or celebrities emerge from universities like Tsinghua University, which gather most of the country's outstanding students.
However, Xue Qiandai once attended a charity gala with her father, which was reported by the media, and one day she appeared on Tsinghua University's Shuimu BBS. As a result, Xue Qiandai's romantic history was also dug up.
Jin Heng finally understood that Xue Qiandai's admiration for the Chief Justice wasn't just talk; she truly practiced it—changing boyfriends like changing clothes, never repeating the same one.
