Chapter 1 Absurdity

Chapter 1 Absurdity

absurd.

Pu Xia felt he couldn't have encountered anything more absurd than this.

It wasn't until her unreliable father passed away that she learned he had an illegitimate son back in their hometown. And that illegitimate son was actually a few years older than her.

No wonder her mother insisted on a divorce, regarding her as a disgrace. Now, Pu Xia was not at all surprised by her resolute attitude.

After all, how could such a shrewd, proud woman with a perfect resume accept the fact that she was easily deceived by a mere pretty face?

So after Pu Xia's gigolo father died, guardianship naturally fell to his aunt, whom he had never met.

This is nothing, it's only been two years.

But she couldn't remain calm after learning that the illegitimate child was also being raised by this aunt.

Could there be anything more absurd than this? she thought.

Although she was inwardly agitated, she always maintained excellent composure in her facial expressions. Outwardly, she wore a long black dress and her beautiful face was expressionless, making it seem as if she were immersed in grief over her father's death.

In fact, she rolled her eyes so hard they almost reached the top of her head.

-

The scenery outside the window became increasingly desolate, the road became increasingly uneven, and the bus, which smelled strange, became increasingly bumpy.

Pu Xia closed her eyes, her full lips turned white and pressed into a straight line, making her already pale face even paler.

She held on, and finally the bus stopped before she vomited. She quickly grabbed her handbag and got off the bus, then stumbled and dragged her suitcase off the side of the bus.

Although she was neglected by her parents from childhood, she was never deprived of material comforts. She had never experienced such hardship before. After getting off the plane, she took a train, then a bus, and finally arrived in a small county town, covered in dust and grime.

Standing by the roadside, looking at the densely packed, dilapidated low-rise buildings ahead, she realized with absolute clarity that she was no longer the glamorous, popular internet celebrity model.

Pu Xia quickly prepared himself mentally, and then dialed a number that he hadn't saved as a contact.

"Hello!" The sudden loud voice startled her, causing her to hold the phone much further away. "Xiaxia! You've arrived!"

"Yes, Auntie, I'm currently..."

She then realized that she had no idea where she was.

"Didn't that brat Xie Sheng pick you up? He's really asking for trouble. Xiaxia, do you have a lot of stuff? If you do, why don't you sit there and play for a while? Your uncle and I are heading back to Bai County around 7 PM..."

Pu Xia glanced at the time; it was only 3 p.m. He looked around again; the place was deserted.

She said decisively, "Auntie, give me the address. I'll find a way to get there."

"Do you know the way? Why don't you look for it first? If you can't find it, call me right away! I'll definitely teach that brat a lesson when I get back!"

Before she could finish speaking, Pu Xia immediately said, "Okay, I'll hang up now, my phone's almost out of battery."

The world has returned to calm.

It's hard to imagine that this loud-voiced woman is the older sister of her melancholy, taciturn, and seemingly respectable father.

Soon, she received an address.

Now that we know our destination, the question is how to get there.

Pu Xia skillfully opened the ride-hailing app, glanced at the message "0 cars available around you," and immediately closed it.

She forgot that this small, third-tier county town had no taxi service, and even the map was so crude that it only showed information about the main roads.

The start was very unfavorable.

The internet products born from modern civilization are completely useless in this place, yet she has to live here for two years.

Is it really that bad?

Pu Xia thought it was over, but clearly, she was far too naive.

When Pu Xia carried her luggage up to the third floor, drenched in sweat, her thin arms and legs trembling. Looking around, she thought to herself that her gigolo father must have been stuffing money into the house quite a bit.

Along the way, the low-rise buildings and houses in Bai County were not much different, but her aunt's house was built in a more impressive way, although the European-style columns paired with the blood-red unit door were really a bit incongruous.

She tiptoed to find the key on the cabinet by the door and opened it.

Immediately, a woman's high-pitched, plaintive moans assaulted her ears. Her mind went blank, and the bunch of keys in her hand clattered to the ground.
