Chapter 16 Obsession
After the morning meeting, Xie Sheng was immediately surrounded by a group of people, which thwarted his plan to make his presence known to Pu Xia.
The first class for Class 8 was physical education, so the others didn't go back to the classroom. Pu Xia was pulled along by Chen Yu and the others to chat under a tree not far away.
The early autumn morning in the mountains was somewhat hazy, with the air dampened by the mist. Pu Xia gazed at the figure in the distance, lost in thought.
She was wondering how she had gotten to this point.
Logically speaking, she should dislike Xie Sheng.
After all, she was evidence of her father's deception, and her family's breakdown was inextricably linked to him.
Even if you can't bring yourself to hate or despise, you should at least pretend not to see it.
But now, they have become intimate.
And she couldn't even correct this deviation.
Because whenever her reason returned for a moment, she would recall the look Xie Sheng gave her in the night that day.
His fearlessness and his certainty irresistibly attracted her.
The thrill of fear and excitement captivated her.
She knew this feeling was called longing, and she also knew that once this longing was ignited, any thought of escaping would only lead to a greater emptiness.
What should she do?
"Puxia? Puxia?" Someone called her from the side.
She loosened her grip on his hand, snapping out of her daze. "What's wrong?"
"Are you alright? You look terrible."
She smiled and said it was nothing, "I probably didn't sleep well last night."
"Did you start studying too late?" Chen Yu asked tentatively with a smile.
Pu Xia didn't say anything, and Chen Yu felt a little awkward, so she changed the subject, "By the way, your phone seems to be ringing a lot, someone must be texting you."
Upon hearing this, Pu Xia took out his phone and saw a long-absent chat window pop up at the top of the chat list.
"I took a week off to come and spend time with you."
She stared down at the sentence, as if she was thinking about something. After a while, when the burning emotions in her eyes subsided, she turned off her phone and put it away.
-
The school bell rang, and the group of people surrounding Xie Sheng gradually rushed to the classroom.
Xie Sheng breathed a sigh of relief and pulled his school uniform jacket back to let out some heat.
"It's just coming back to class and wearing a school uniform, is it really that big of a deal?"
Xie Sheng said impatiently.
"Anyway, it's quite rare."
The two returned to their teams, and the PE teacher briefly outlined the lesson's content: badminton for the girls and basketball for the boys, before dividing them into groups.
As luck would have it, Pu Xia and Guan Yan were paired together, but they were rivals.
The boys in the class stopped playing ball after seeing this and all came over to watch the excitement.
Pu Xia hadn't been there long, but the whole school knew that a stunning beauty had arrived in Class 8 of the second year of high school. However, she had a cold demeanor and looked like a well-behaved girl from a big city, which naturally drew a line between them.
Everyone was eagerly waiting, but Xie Sheng was a little anxious because Pu Xia's current physical condition was not suitable for exercise.
While the two were choosing their shots, Xie Sheng walked over to Guan Yan and said, "You should go easy on her."
But before Guan Yan could say anything, Pu Xia interrupted him coldly, "No need, we'll play normally."
"Pu Xia, don't be stubborn."
Pu Xia didn't respond to him. She stared into Guan Yan's eyes, her upturned cat-like eyes haughty and stubborn, "Let's have a good fight."
Guan Yan twirled the clapper in her palm and agreed.
Before going on stage, Guan Yan reassured Xie Sheng that she would take it easy. But once on stage, she realized she had spoken too soon.
Pu Xia appears to be a well-behaved girl, but her playing style is exceptionally sharp and tricky. Her skills compensate for her disadvantages in height and stamina. Guan Yan, who was initially expected to easily dominate, was instead led around by the nose.
The game ended quickly, and Guan Yan was at a disadvantage.
A gasp of surprise erupted from the crowd, with some people, eager for a good show, yelling that the school beauty was about to be replaced.
Guan Yan wiped the sweat from her forehead, her competitive spirit ignited by Pu Xia's calm yet stubborn gaze.
At the start of the second round, Guan Yan, who had almost made it into the school team, was definitely much stronger than the other girls in terms of physical strength.
Pu Xia's fair skin was now flushed, her hair was sticking to her face with sweat, her delicate eyebrows were furrowed, and her lips were a little pale.
Xie Sheng felt sorry for her and said, "Go buy a bottle of water, room temperature, not iced, an energy bar, a pack of tissues, and oh right, a pack of rubber bands."
The boy was stunned for a moment, but quickly realized what was happening. He took the money and immediately ran towards the convenience store on the playground.
I never expected Brother Sheng to be so considerate in a relationship. No wonder he was able to win over the school beauty. I've learned something from him!
When he returned, a game had just ended, and this time Guan Yan had won.
The boy who ran the errand immediately handed the items to Xie Sheng, winking at him, "Brother Sheng, I've bought the things, you can go now." I need to learn a few more tricks!
After taking the items, Xie Sheng changed direction and headed straight for Pu Xia.
The people present: ? ? ?
