Chapter 35 Exam
After Xiao Chengming left, the midterm exams followed.
Although many people in school don't care much about studying, they are still students, and the fear of being dominated by exams runs deep in their bones.
As a result, the atmosphere throughout the school became much heavier.
Pu Xia also devoted more energy to her studies. Although the exams here weren't very difficult, in the college entrance exam, she wouldn't be competing with students from this school, but with students from the entire province. Given the existing educational resources, she felt she couldn't afford to be complacent.
Xie Sheng's life became much simpler, with his focus on two things: taking care of Pu Xia and managing the bar.
But the day before the midterm exams, Guan Yan's appearance suddenly brought a small disturbance to their peaceful life.
A person suddenly appeared in a seat that had been vacant for several weeks, making it hard to ignore, especially since this person was particularly conspicuous.
When Pu Xia and Xie Sheng entered the classroom, the first thing they saw was Guan Yan.
"You two get along well," Guan Yan greeted them first.
It had been a long time since I'd seen Guan Yan, and she seemed even more beautiful than before. Her aura had become exceptionally striking, making it impossible to look away.
But Xie Sheng just glanced at her lazily, his eyes seeming to say, "Do you even need to tell me that?"
Pu Xia didn't have much to say, especially about Xie Sheng's "ex-girlfriend." She had only come back to get her books, so she didn't sit down. Instead, she pulled out a chair, squatted down in front of the desk, and rummaged through her things.
Guan Yan was not deterred by their cold response. She suddenly leaned down and asked Pu Xia, who was squatting down, "I heard you beat up Qingling and the others?"
Pu Xia then turned his head to look at her, his upturned cat-like eyes filled with a distant, aloof expression. "So?"
But before she could unleash her hostility, Xie Sheng rubbed her head. She lifted her eyelids and glanced up, her arrogance instantly vanishing as she continued searching for the book she needed to bring.
Xie Sheng spoke up, looking down at Guan Yan, "If there's anything you want to do, just do it to me."
Guan Yan found the interaction between the two amusing. "What can I do? I'm always under your protection, Brother Sheng."
"When did you become so talkative?"
“I’m sorry, I picked up some bad habits outside,” Guan Yan raised her hand, then her expression became more serious. “Anyway, to make a long story short, Qingling went to see her cousin.”
Xie Sheng's lazy expression softened slightly, and he raised an eyebrow. "Her cousin is in charge of this?"
Guan Yan looked at him and sighed softly, "She dragged you into this."
Xie Sheng gave a cold laugh.
"Anyway, you guys should be careful. This is all I can do. I'm signed with a management company now, so I can't cause trouble. Brother Sheng, don't blame me for being disloyal."
I tried to reason with Qingling, and I told her that we only said we were a couple to avoid trouble, but she seems even angrier. She won't tell me anything now, and to be honest, I don't know what she's thinking.
Xie Sheng simply hummed in agreement, and after Pu Xia finished packing her things, he took her hand and turned to leave.
On the way back to the dormitory, Pu Xia noticed that Xie Sheng hadn't said anything, so she couldn't help but ask, "Is it serious? Is Qingling's uncle some kind of troublesome character?"
“It’s alright, I’m from the underworld in Liucheng,” Xie Sheng said, seeing Pu Xia’s brows furrow, and he leaned down to kiss her. “You don’t need to worry, your brother can handle this.”
But Pu Xia was not relieved by his words, because she knew that even if she could resolve this, it didn't mean that things would be fine afterward. These kinds of scoundrels who roamed the streets were the most troublesome.
She grabbed Xie Sheng's sleeve. "Brother, don't deal with them. If they come after me, I'll call the police."
Xie Sheng chuckled softly, gently rubbing her cheek, and said, "Baby, I won't let them come after you. You study hard, do well on your exam, and give your brother a high score."
Pu Xia realized that Xie Sheng didn't intend to back down, so she stopped, grabbed his sleeve, and asked anxiously, "Have I caused you any trouble?"
Back in S City, she knew exactly how deep the water was, so once she took action, she was never afraid of anything she couldn't solve.
But this time she regretted her impulsiveness.
Seeing the girl's worried expression, Xie Sheng couldn't help but hug her. "It's nothing serious, don't worry. I've been around for over ten years, I can handle this kind of thing. Don't worry, sweetie."
Pu Xia was soothed when the higher temperature and steady heartbeat traveled through his body.
But the next second, she realized that she was still at school! She quickly pushed Xie Sheng away again.
During lunch break, there was actually no one around, but Pu Xia still cautiously looked around.
“Baby, you’re too nervous,” Xie Sheng reached out and put his arm around her waist, pulling her back and whispering seductively as he stroked her waist, “After the exam, let’s find a place where nobody knows us and go out to relax?”
"Um……"
Pu Xia felt like there was a pair of eyes watching them closely. She checked her surroundings again and found no one there.
She thought that she might indeed be overly nervous.

For some, the two days of midterm exams fly by like a rocket; for others, however, it feels like an eternity.
When the bell rang to signal the end of the last exam, Pu Xia stood up, handed in her paper, loosened her wrists, picked up her backpack, and headed to class.
Meanwhile, the group of people who had slept for two days also got up, stretched, yawned, and muttered, "I've really exhausted myself sleeping these past two days."
Thinking that Xie Sheng was probably in the same state, she couldn't help but curl the corners of her lips.
Chen Yu also came out of the other examination room and bumped into Pu Xia. "Looks like you did quite well on the exam."
"It's alright." Pu Xia roughly calculated the score in her mind and thought it was definitely not bad.
"Since that's the case, how about we go get something to celebrate the end of the exams?" Chen Yu suggested. "I know a hot pot restaurant that opened near the school, and the food is pretty good."
The sky outside had turned a dark blue-black, and the cold wind kept seeping into her arms. Pu Xia looked at the twinkling lights in the distance and suddenly thought that having a steaming hot pot was a good decision.
So she nodded and sent a message to Xie Sheng as well.
Soon, Xie Sheng replied, "See you in the dorm tonight."
Pu Xia understood; it seemed his aunt and uncle would be coming home today.
They now spend most of their weekends together. During the day, while Pu Xia studies, Xie Sheng sits beside her using her laptop to search for information online and learn how to make plans.
In the afternoon, the two would sometimes go shopping to pick out some daily necessities; shopping together gave them a sense of life.
When the weather isn't so good—whether it's a downpour, a strong wind, or a drizzly day—they often end up naked in bed, entwined together, having a passionate sexual encounter, or simply watching a movie until the end credits roll, resting their heads together for a short nap.
In the evening, if Xie Sheng went to a bar, Pu Xia would go with him, order a drink, smoke a cigarette, and watch Xie Sheng busy himself around. But what was interesting was that whenever someone tried to chat her up, he would always appear immediately and chase them away, as if he had a third eye that was always on her.
Life became simple and repetitive, yet incredibly fulfilling and satisfying.
Pu Xia felt as if the empty, painful monster inside her was disappearing, and her feet were finally on the ground. She was truly living. Even something as simple as having hot pot with Chen Yu in this cold weather could bring her joy.
However, life is not a kind old man; it is more like a mischievous child who loves to play pranks.
Just when you think everything will go smoothly, he always jumps out and catches you off guard.
For example, just as Pu Xia and Chen Yu entered the hot pot restaurant, they bumped into Qing Ling and another group of people pushing open the door and entering.
