Chapter 53 Exposed
After Pu Xia made her stance clear to Yang Ning that day, Yang Ning stopped contacting her.
At first, Pu Xia was very sad. During that time, she clung to Xie Sheng as if she were grasping at the last straw.
But after a while, many of her emotions and feelings subsided, and she gradually regained her composure.
Life goes on.
During the summer after her second year of high school, Tong Shuyao made a special trip to the provincial capital, insisting on seeing the scoundrel who had kidnapped her friend. However, upon meeting Xie Sheng, she immediately changed her tune.
Xie Sheng's face is absolutely exempt from scrutiny by Tong Shuyao, a seasoned beauty enthusiast.
She instantly forgot about "who stole her friend" and kept saying to Pu Xia, "Xiaxia, your boyfriend is really something. Where did you find him? Does he have any brothers or anything? Introduce him to me!"
Pu Xia looked at her speechless face and thought to himself, "You don't have any brothers, but you do have a sister, and you're quite familiar with her."
Tong Shuyao stayed in the provincial capital for almost two weeks, having done almost everything she wanted to do and had her fill of being fed dog food. Finally, she left a message for Pu Xia: "Don't let him get away," and then flew away.
Pu Xia was happy because his old friends and his current life had intersected.
However, she never expected that her life story would reach the ears of those who were interested through Tong Shuyao.

Now that Pu Xia has officially entered her senior year of high school, her life is much busier than before.
She moved out of the dormitory, but never went back to her aunt's house.
Xie Sheng rented a house near the school for her and hired a housekeeper from the provincial capital to take care of her daily life.
Being taken care of in every little detail, Pu Xia felt that her face had become rounder.
Meanwhile, Xie Sheng's work became exceptionally busy. He began to take over some hotel business, and Li Ke's "successor training plan" thus entered its second phase.
If the people at the school saw him again, they probably wouldn't recognize him—Xie Sheng had completely shed his student image and become much more composed. If he used to be arrogant, he was now incredibly imposing.
No matter how much he changed, in front of Pu Xia, he was still that somewhat unserious and carefree man who would prioritize her and care about her feelings.
This is Xie Sheng's biggest difference.
When Yang Ning is busy with work, he will completely ignore her existence and put his career before her; Xiao Chengming will throw himself into his work and then make up for it with gifts or something after he finishes.
Only Xie Sheng would seriously explain things to her. He would put aside less important work, but would make sure to explain important work to Pu Xia.
Pu Xia was certainly not an unreasonable person; she simply needed to be valued. She was an important person to him, not someone who was relegated to a secondary position whenever a choice was made.
"You are an important person to me, so I automatically consider you as one of my people."
"Because I consider you one of my own, I didn't think too much about it."
...
Pu Xia scoffed at these arguments.
Does that mean that being placed in a so-called important position means you have to suffer injustice? That doesn't make sense.
Her feelings need to be taken seriously.
In this respect, Xie Sheng did a very good job.
Sometimes she was surprised that a man like Xie Sheng would be so considerate of her feelings.
Later she realized that it actually had nothing to do with personality or gender; it just depended on whether the other person cared or not.
Having seen all this, she loved Xie Sheng even more.
When both amazement and warmth appear in one person, no one can escape it.
......
Senior year of high school flies by, and the first semester is over in the blink of an eye.
That day, Pu Xia finished her last exam and was planning to go to the provincial capital. After leaving the school gate, she saw a black minivan.
Looking at the dark, opaque car window, her heart suddenly started racing.
A bad feeling crept into my heart.
Sure enough, the car window slowly rolled down the next second, and the face of a woman wearing sunglasses appeared in her line of sight.
This person was Yang Ning.
All the vague unease instantly surfaced, boiling over like water. Her heart sank to the bottom, and her steps became heavy.
When Pu Xia reached the car, her voice was a little hoarse. "Mom..."
"You still know I'm your mother?" Yang Ning sneered, then glanced at the bustling crowd around her, her lips tightening into a straight line. "Get in the car first."
Pu Xia dared not disobey and opened the car door.
She had thought Yang Ning would take her somewhere, but as soon as she got in the car, Yang Ning told the driver to get out.
Pu Xia looked at Yang Ning with a puzzled expression. She saw Yang Ning take a deep breath and then take an envelope out of the bag next to her.
"Take a look for yourself."
Pu Xia took the A4-sized envelope; it was rather heavy.
She bent down and opened the envelope, inside which was a thick stack of photos. Pu Xia took out some of them, and when she saw the images in the photos, the color drained from her face instantly.
Shock, fear, and panic intertwined, like a sudden storm that pierced through her body.
The photo shows a man and a woman intimately together, holding hands, embracing, and kissing. Both are very good-looking and look perfectly matched; it's a pleasing photo to anyone who looks at it…
But Pu Xia couldn't bear to watch any longer, and she closed her eyes almost in despair.

This story, "Desolate Summer," is officially coming to an end. Writing it was a bit difficult and challenging. I will still update weekly, but it will be a little slow. I hope you understand.
If you want to read it all at once, you can bookmark it first and save it up. If all goes well, it will end in a few tens of thousands of words.
