Chapter 4 Keeping Warm
The sky became somewhat overcast in the afternoon, and by evening the clouds had thickened considerably.
A moment later, lightning pierced through the clouds, illuminating half the sky, followed closely by the sound of drums.
By the time Pu Xia finished making the noodles and came to his senses, the downpour had already begun.
She tightened her pajamas, which she was wearing over the outside of the window. The mountain shadows outside the window were hidden in the white rain, and everything became unclear.
Apart from the sound of rain, everything else seemed to be muted.
Pu Xia stood alone in the empty living room, looking out the window. Darkness, oppression, loneliness, and various emotions piled up, creating an unprecedented sense of suffocation that enveloped her.
She didn't have this feeling when her father passed away.
But a sudden downpour brought everything to a head, and she became acutely aware of her predicament.
She looked at her hands, her fingertips trembling slightly at this realization.
But she couldn't cry out; it was as if she were trapped inside a vacuum bottle, unable to make a sound.
She thought she might be broken.
Her mind and body were disconnected.
Pu Xia quietly finished a cup of instant noodles, then cleaned up the kitchen and dining room.
After finishing these tasks, she went back to her room, took out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter from her bag, and returned to the living room.
She sat on the sofa, hugging her knees, curling herself up into a ball – the way a person can embrace themselves to the fullest extent.
-
Soaked to the bone, Xie Sheng pushed open the door and entered the living room, where this was the scene that greeted him.
Pu Xia looked up at the sudden noise, but the emptiness in her eyes had not yet dissipated. Her full lips parted slightly in surprise, and the cigarette between her fingers was still burning.
A familiar scene, only the intruders have switched places.
Seeing the scene before him, Xie Sheng felt as if someone had poked his heart.
He walked up to her, glanced at the few cigarette butts in the ashtray, then looked back at her and reached out to hold her chin.
Pu Xia was in a state of great confusion. She knew she should struggle and return to her room immediately, but her body couldn't keep up with her reaction.
So Xie Sheng did what he had wanted to do during the day; he raised his wrist so that those proud eyes would look up at him.
The rainwater still clinging to his body slid down his forearms, the backs of his hands, his fingertips, and her slender neck, disappearing into the neckline of her pajamas.
Pu Xia trembled slightly where the water droplet had slid in, but still did not break free from his grip.
She thought she must be possessed.
At this moment, she actually wished Xie Sheng could come closer to her. She couldn't tell if it stemmed from inner loneliness or from a mysterious blood bond.
Pu Xia reached out and grabbed his arm.
Xie Sheng, who had been feeling a bit cold, suddenly felt burning up all over because of her reaction.
He stared intently into Pu Xia's beautiful eyes, which were filled with vulnerability and longing.
She didn't say a word, but her whole body seemed to be crying out for help.
As if he knew how she felt, he grabbed her neck with one hand and her waist with the other, lifting her up.
She knelt on the sofa, her knees barely reaching his collarbone.
"Are you seducing me?" Xie Sheng's voice was low and deep. He leaned close, his hot breath brushing against her cheek and ear.
Is she seducing him?
Pu Xia shook her head inwardly; she was testing the waters, searching for an answer.
She wrapped her arms around his waist with her free hands.
The boy's muscular body was suddenly embraced, causing him to abruptly stop.
She heard him mutter "fuck" under his breath, and then Xie Sheng hugged her tightly in return.
The cold rain soaked him, but his body remained burning hot.
Pu Xia closed her eyes; she had finally received the hug she longed for.
-
Xie Sheng always considered himself a person without any taboos; there was nothing he couldn't do.
It's either daring or not daring.
In her aunt's words, no one in their family was like him; he was a madman.
He actually thought about it carefully at the time, and realized that his conman father, his foolish mother, and his kind-hearted aunt were all nothing like him.
He has an uncontrollable madness in his bones, which he needs to fill with destruction, chaos, and anger.
But now things seem to be a little different. He was very surprised to find a similarity in his half-sister.
...
His soaked clothes were casually tossed aside. He was shirtless, his chest pressed tightly against Pu Xia, who looked like she was fully ripe. Her fair skin was flushed, and her neat nightgown was now wet and wrinkled from his weight.
He wrapped his arms tightly around her from behind, looking in the mirror with intense lust in his dark eyes.
Pu Xia's droopy collar couldn't contain her full breasts, and the cherry-red cleavage on her chest was half-exposed, trembling with the movements of his hands.
"I'm fucking going crazy," Xie Sheng thought to himself.
This was more erotic than any other movie he had ever watched.

Note:
Pu Xia and Xie Sheng have similar upbringing, but their personalities are at opposite extremes: one is a manic venter, and the other is an empty yearning. Therefore, they are attracted to each other instinctively, but repelled by each other rationally.
I find this contradiction and struggle quite interesting. I hope I can convey it.
