Chapter 187 Extra Chapter 1: Liu Sixi

After attending his sister's wedding, Liu Sixi went back to attend to his own affairs. Like Doctor Jiang, he was only interested in practicing medicine and prescriptions and had never thought about getting married.

Until one day, Dr. Jiang took her to Xili City to meet an old friend. This old friend also came from a family that had practiced medicine for generations, but his reputation was not as great as Dr. Jiang's.

This old friend has a beautiful granddaughter who is a year younger than Liu Sixi.

The original intention of Doctor Jiang was to take Liu Sixi to catch up with old friends and, incidentally, introduce his beloved disciple to them.

But when they arrived at his old friend's house, the two had only been chatting for a short while when his little granddaughter came over and pestered her grandfather with questions about herbs and medical principles.

Fearing he might neglect the customer, the old friend said he would answer her questions another day and introduced her to Doctor Jiang and Liu Sixi.

“Xinyi, this is your Grandpa Jiang, and this is his beloved disciple, who should be a bit older than you. You can call him Brother Sixi.”

"Hello Grandpa Jiang, hello Brother Sixi. I was in a hurry to ask you about this prescription. I was rude just now, please forgive me."

Fang Xinyi was very polite and poised, without a trace of shyness on her face, which made Liu Sixi look at her with new respect.

He took the initiative to speak. "Miss Xinyi, what prescription do you want to ask about? I can take a look. If I can't answer it, you can ask my master."

Fang Xinyi looked at her grandfather and asked, and her grandfather nodded.

So Fang Xinyi showed her prescription to Liu Sixi. Liu Sixi took a look and found that the prescription was not difficult. He patiently explained it to Fang Xinyi.

Fang Xinyi asked her many questions about her medical practice, and Liu Sixi was able to answer them quickly and with high quality.

The two chatted for over an hour, and Fang Xinyi's gaze towards Liu Sixi changed, becoming one of admiration.

She was also a straightforward and bold girl. Perhaps it was the first time that the young girl had met a boy who could talk to her so well and who knew so much about medicine.

On impulse, he looked at Liu Sixi with sparkling eyes and blurted out the question.

"Brother Sixi, are you married?"

Liu Sixi paused in explaining the pharmacology to him, and then replied.

Not yet.

Seeing his granddaughter's lack of self-restraint, Dr. He's expression darkened, and his voice became stern.

"Xinyi, why are you, a young lady, asking such private questions?"

Fang Xinyi knew she had acted impulsively; she hadn't been able to control her inner turmoil.

He bowed to Liu Sixi and said softly, "Brother Sixi, my question just now was a bit abrupt, please forgive me."

"It's alright." Liu Sixi actually liked this straightforward personality.

Upon seeing this, Doctor Jiang realized that his apprentice might have some kind of destiny with that young lady!

Although he himself never married, he did not want his apprentices to be like him.

So he looked at Doctor He and asked, “Old He, what do you think of my apprentice? He’s handsome and talented, and comes from a distinguished family. You can take any medical exam he wants; I guarantee you’ll be satisfied.”

When Dr. He heard his old friend say that, he casually inquired about it.

Upon inquiring, he was slightly shocked to learn of Liu Sixi's illustrious family background.

"Old Jiang, your apprentice has such a powerful background, are you intentionally trying to matchmake my granddaughter with your apprentice?"

"I'm afraid my family's social standing isn't good enough for them!"

"Don't worry, my apprentice's family is very harmonious. His parents never care about family background; they just let their child do what he likes," Doctor Jiang replied, looking at the two who were still chatting happily.

"If that's the case, then that's really good. My granddaughter is very straightforward, and I can tell that she has feelings for your apprentice. However, I can't tell if your apprentice reciprocates those feelings. Why don't you go back and ask her? If they have feelings for each other, they can try to get to know each other."

Dr. He was quite satisfied with Liu Sixi.

"Alright, Lao He, this tea is for you. You even managed to find a wife for your apprentice during your trip. That's great. This tea was given to me by my apprentice's sister, Princess Anchang. It's of excellent quality and you can't buy it anywhere else."

The two old friends chatted for a while longer before Doctor Jiang took Liu Sixi away.

Before leaving, Fang Xinyi still felt that she hadn't had enough of chatting with Liu Sixi.

"Grandpa Jiang, can you bring Sisi to play here often in the future?"

She was also a girl who was obsessed with medical knowledge, so she and Liu Sixi had a lot to talk about.

After returning home, Liu Sixi became quite busy again, and Doctor Jiang also tried to take time to bring his apprentice to Doctor Fang's house to reminisce.

After their back-and-forth interactions, Liu Sixi and Fang Xinyi became quite familiar with each other.

After Dr. Jiang had seen enough of the familiar faces, he asked Liu Sixi.

"Sixi! You're not getting any younger. Your sister is already married, it's time for you to settle down too. You can't end up like your master, single forever."

"I've noticed you and that girl from the Fang family seem to get along quite well lately. How about she as your wife? Are you satisfied?"

"I'm satisfied. This girl is in the same profession as me. If we get married, we'll have a lot to talk about, and we can even run your clinic together."

Liu Sixi had met the girl a few times and felt that they got along well.

"That's good. That girl has had her eye on you for a long time. So, let's go to the capital and bring your parents here to propose marriage and get the wedding done!"

The doctor, Jiang, is getting old, and she envies others who have grandchildren.

He didn't have a son either, so Liu Sixi was practically his son. Anyway, most of Liu Sixi's business was with him. Even if they got married, Liu Sixi couldn't go back to the capital and would have to live with him. Then he would have a grandson. Just thinking about it made him very happy.

"Master, I'll write to my sister and ask her to send my parents over; it will save time."

"That's great! Go and write the letter!" Doctor Jiang also knew that Liu Sisi had an extraordinary identity and some special abilities.

A few days later, Liu Sisi received a letter from Liu Sixi, who told her parents about her fifth brother's upcoming marriage.

Wu was overjoyed; her fifth son was finally settled, and she had already prepared the betrothal gifts.
