Chapter 19 Gu Lingchen

Liu Dashi was terrified as he watched his daughter run away. The thief looked big and burly, and his daughter was chasing after him. What if she got hurt if he had a weapon?

He didn't dare to think any further and quickly followed.

Liu Sisi quickly caught up with the boy, but the thief had already run quite far ahead. Liu Sisi overtook the boy and chased after him, but unfortunately, an 8-year-old girl's legs were too short, and even with her good physical fitness, she couldn't catch up with a fast-running big man in a short time.

She regretted that she didn't know how to use light-body skills, so she ran faster and ran forward for a while, trying to close the distance between them. Then she took out a large porcelain bowl from her spatial storage.

Using his inner strength, he threw the bowl forward, and it flew straight up onto the thief's head.

The thief's vision went black, and he lost his balance, falling straight to the ground.

Taking advantage of the moment, Liu Sisi quickly caught up with the thief. The thief got up and, seeing that it was just a young girl, tried to stop him.

He pulled out a dagger from his body and stabbed at Liu Sisi with a fierce look in his eyes. Liu Sisi was just looking for someone to practice on! It was a good opportunity to test the power of the Jade Goddess Palm.

She turned to dodge the man's dagger, then leaped up, stepping on his hand to land on his head. She slapped his head with only a tenth of her strength, and he fell straight down, presumably unconscious.

The instant he fell, Liu Sisi jumped down and landed steadily on the ground.

The large porcelain bowl had already shattered. She walked over, looked around to make sure no one was watching, and then put the shards into her spatial storage, along with the dagger.

Fortunately, the thief was afraid of crowds and ran to a deserted place; otherwise, anyone who saw this scene would definitely be frightened.

"Are you alright, girl?" Liu Dashi asked Liu Sisi with concern as he ran over, panting.

"Dad, I'm fine. Look at this little thief, he tripped and fell while running and got knocked out."

Liu Sisi didn't want her father to know that the man had just used a knife, lest he worry again.

"Girl, you're too bold. You were lucky this time. What if this guy had kidnapped you because you're a little girl? You can't be so impulsive in the future, you know?"

Liu Dashi hugged Liu Sisi tightly, feeling a chill run down his spine. She was his only precious daughter!

After a while, the richly dressed young man also caught up and, seeing the thief lying on the ground, began searching his body.

Finally, the jade pendant was found in the thief's pouch at his waist, and he put it into his sleeve.

He stood up and thanked Liu Sisi, saying, "Thank you so much for helping me retrieve this jade pendant. It is very important to me, and I am very grateful to you for this."

Liu Sisi hadn't had time to look at him while she was running, but now she took a closer look at the boy in front of her.

He was exceptionally handsome, with delicate and well-defined features, fair and smooth skin that seemed to radiate light, and deep and bright eyes that were captivating.

His magnificent attire added to his air of nobility and mystery.

He was just pale-faced, looking like a delicate and handsome man.

Liu Sisi couldn't help but sigh to herself, "I wonder if this handsome young man has some kind of terminal illness. He looks like he's about to die."

As she sized up the boy, he was also sizing her up.

She looked at the little girl in front of her; although she was dressed in coarse cloth, it could not hide her stunning beauty!

Her eyes were like bright stars, her eyelashes were long and curled like two small fans, her lips were as red as cherries, and her slightly chubby face was extremely cute, making the boy lose himself in admiration.

"You're welcome, young master. Keep your jade pendant safe so it won't be stolen again."

The girl's clear voice brought the boy back to his senses.

"Young master, young master, what are you doing here? I've been looking for you everywhere," a servant's voice came from afar.

The servant looked anxious and was covered in sweat; it seemed he had been searching for a long time before finally finding his master.

"My jade pendant was almost stolen. If it weren't for this young lady and uncle's help, I would never have found it again."

The boy looked at the servant with a reproachful expression, and the servant was so frightened that he immediately knelt on the ground.

"Young master, it's all my fault. I failed to protect you."

Little did the servant know that his master would be in danger while he was just going to the outhouse. He should have brought more men with him.

But his master thought it was too conspicuous to bring too many people, so he wouldn't allow it! He had no choice.

"Alright, get up! I've found my jade pendant. Tell two people to drag this thief back and take him to the authorities."

"yes."

The servant agreed and went to call for help.

Seeing that there was nothing more for her to do, Liu Sisi said, "Then we'll be going, young master. See you again sometime."

"Wait a moment, young lady." My name is Gu Lingchen. May I ask your name?

"Liu Sisi".

I haven't properly thanked you yet! This is all I have left, please take it.

After Gu Lingchen finished speaking, he took out several silver notes from his body and stuffed them into Liu Sisi's hand.

Gu Lingchen noticed that Liu Sisi and Liu Dashi were both dressed simply, so they must be short of money!

Liu Sisi glanced at it and saw that there were five 100-tael notes.

"My goodness! So generous? What kind of family do they come from!"

But this was too much; she couldn't accept it and planned to return it.

"Young master, we didn't do anything. This little thief was just unlucky and fell unconscious. How could we possibly charge you so much silver?"

Liu Dashi was an honest and simple man, and he dared not take so much money from others for nothing.

“Take it! This little bit of silver is nothing to me; the jade pendant is the most important thing.”

After Gu Lingchen finished speaking, he took out another jade pendant from his body and gave it to Liu Sisi. He said, "If you encounter any problems in the future, just take this jade pendant and come to me. I will definitely help if I can."

Liu Sisi took the jade pendant; it felt heavy.

He thought to himself, "I've latched onto a powerful patron! I have to accept this; what if he's the son of some high-ranking official? I might really need his help someday!"

"Thank you very much, young master. I'll accept the token, but you should take the silver notes back!" "It's too much for me to accept," Liu Sisi said, stuffing the silver notes into Gu Lingchen's hand.

Actually, she really wanted to accept it, as it was five hundred taels of silver. However, it was too much, and she hadn't really helped much. Taking five hundred taels of silver from someone would be too much of a rip-off!

"Not much, not much. Money is the last thing I need. I'd also like to ask Miss Sisi to be my guide! I'm here in Jinshan County for sightseeing. Do you know any fun places to visit?"

Gu Lingchen will not take back what he has given away! He will not accept the silver notes that Liu Sisi hands back.

I, Liu Sisi, am in a dilemma. She has been here for so long, and apart from the village and the county town, she has hardly ever been to any other towns. How would she know what fun things there are to do?

"Young master, I am just a country girl, and I really don't know where to go for fun."

My dad and I still have to catch the oxcart! We'll miss it, so we're off now!

Goodbye!

After saying that, he grabbed Liu Dashi and left.
