When Liu Sisi sneaked into the backyard, she saw that there were people guarding the door, but no one else was there. It was noon.
She glanced at the house next door, where smoke was billowing from the chimney, suggesting that everyone had gone to have lunch.
There were only two men guarding the gate, and she simply swaggered past them.
"Uncles, why aren't you having lunch? Everyone over there is eating!" Liu Sisi said innocently.
"Where did this girl come from? Aren't they all locked up? How did one of them get out?" One of the guards looked puzzled.
"Uncle, your husband sent me to call you for lunch. Don't rush, just open the door for me and I'll go in myself. Another uncle will come to take over for you in a little while," Liu Sisi said unhurriedly.
"Hey, this girl is interesting. She's not scared at all and wants to go in by herself. She's also quite cute. I bet she can fetch a good price."
As the other man spoke, he opened the door, intending for Liu Sisi to go in by herself.
"Since the second-in-command has called, let's go! Lock the door, I'm leaving now."
"Okay!"
The man was about to lock the door.
Liu Sisi took out a piece of silver from her body, which looked to be about five taels.
"Uncle, wait a minute. I'll give you the silver I have on me. Could you lock me up with my mother and sister-in-law?" Liu Sisi said.
A greedy glint appeared in the man's eyes. "Alright, you little girl actually have silver. Give it to me! I agree." Seeing that there was an opportunity to profit, the gatekeeper naturally agreed.
"Uncle, squat down a bit, don't let others see. This is the only piece I have left. If that uncle sees it, you'll have to split it with him, and then you'll be at a loss."
Upon hearing this, the man felt that Liu Sisi was right, so he squatted down and Liu Sisi placed the silver in his hand.
Before he could get up, he struck him on the head with a palm strike, using two-tenths of his strength.
The man, struck by the blow, rolled his eyes and collapsed to the ground. Liu Sisi ignored him and went inside the house.
After passing through the house in front, there was another row of rooms behind, the doors of which were also locked.
Liu Sisi pulled hard, and the lock broke off.
When she opened the door, she saw that it was full of women and children from the village. She immediately spotted Wu Shi and Li Caiping, and even Li Guifen was there.
"Mother, Sister Ping'er, Aunts, I'm here to save you. Don't speak, just follow me quietly outside."
"Alright, daughter, your eldest brother has been locked in another room, and we don't know where he is. Your fifth brother went to the mountains to gather herbs and hasn't returned yet." Seeing that her daughter seemed to have found her pillar of support, Wu said, "My daughter has become exceptionally capable ever since she was protected by the snake spirit."
"Mother, I'll go save my eldest brother later. You all go outside first."
"Okay," everyone responded quietly.
They then quietly walked outside, when suddenly Li Guifen, who was hiding in a corner, shouted loudly, "Help! Someone's trying to escape!"
"Haha, you still want to run? I won't let you get away. You'll all die with me."
Li Guifen saw that she was already in this state and had no hope for the future. She felt it was worth it to let everyone die with her. So she was very grateful to the bandits this time, because Liu Sisi could die with her. She put all her resentment on Liu Sisi.
"You don't have to leave, but you'd better shut your mouth."
Liu Sisi rushed to Li Guifen in one stride, slapped her unconscious, and then ignored her.
Since she doesn't want to leave, let her stay here by herself!
However, her shout should have alerted the bandits in the neighboring courtyard.
Wu and Li Caiping went ahead first, and Liu Dashi had already met them.
Liu Sisi said to Liu Dashi from behind, "Dad, take Mom and the others to see if Young Master Gu is here. If you find him, go with him."
"But regardless of whether we can find him or not, we're fleeing to the county. Ah Sheng has already reported to the county government. If we're lucky, we might run into them on the way."
"Daughter, what will you do then?" Liu Dashi was still worried about his daughter.
"I'll go find my eldest brother and fifth brother. You guys hurry up and don't say anything more, or you won't be able to leave later." Liu Sisi's tone became increasingly urgent.
She didn't wait for Liu Dashi's reply and went directly to another room to try to unlock the door. Before she could even open the door, people from the neighboring courtyard came over.
Liu Sisi knew things were going badly. She probably wouldn't be able to leave now. She didn't know if things were going well with Asheng either. It was too difficult for her to take down so many people by herself.
"Which fool dares to try and escape from my hands? I warn you all to behave yourselves!" The one-eyed man shouted as he approached with a machete and a group of henchmen, unaware that the room was already empty.
When they arrived, Liu Sisi had already hidden in the empty room they had just left, and then went into her own private space.
Seeing that no one responded, the one-eyed man gripped his machete and tried to open the door to see what was going on.
Just then, a shrill male voice came from outside. "I heard the Second Boss has another batch of good stuff this time. I'd better come and see. Last time you gave me some pretty girls, and they were sold to brothels. I really made a fortune!"
Hopefully, the second-in-command's goods this time will be even better than last time! Haha... that shrill voice makes me feel uncomfortable all over.
One-Eyed Dragon immediately greeted them warmly, "This time there are a few pretty girls too, Brother Wang, rest assured you'll be satisfied."
One-Eyed Dragon stepped forward and opened the door, only to find a fainted henchman and a fainted young girl inside.
"Someone, someone come quick! Where are they? Where are the woman and child? Go, go and bring them back to me!" the one-eyed man roared angrily.
Meanwhile, Gu Lingchen's guards had dealt with another group of bandits who had entered the village to search for their master.
Gu Lingchen and the coachman were hiding in a woodshed when he heard his bodyguards making sounds that only they could understand. He immediately came out and rejoined his bodyguards.
"It was my fault for failing in my duties and causing Your Highness to be frightened," said the head of the secret guards, "Shadow," kneeling on the ground.
"It's alright, get up quickly and come with me to save Sisi." Gu Lingchen was worried about Liu Sisi's safety. He would have been dead if he had gone with her without anyone by his side, but now that he had someone with him, his first thought was to save her.
