Chapter 33 Preparing for the Eldest Brother's Wedding

“I walk home along that mountain path at night. I used to always go home that way, but I’ve been traveling for over a year and haven’t been home.”

"I don't know who dug a hole by the roadside. I can't see clearly at night, and I accidentally fell in," the old man replied while drinking his porridge.

"Grandpa, you'd better be careful next time you go out. Get some rest tonight!" Liu Sisi said.

After settling the old man in, Liu Sisi put the food from her space into the kitchen and went back to rest with her family. Everyone was exhausted today.

The next day, Liu Sisi slept until late morning, while Wu had already gotten up to prepare the meal, with Li Caiping helping out.

"Sisi! Get up. Wash up and we'll eat soon," Mrs. Wu said, knowing her daughter was exhausted. She was reluctant to wake her up and waited until her daughter had had a good sleep before calling her.

After washing up, Liu Sisi went to the guest room to see the old man. She saw her fifth brother there as well, and the two of them chatted and laughed, their faces full of smiles.

"Grandpa, what are you two chatting about? You seem to be having a great time," Liu Sisi said as she walked in and sat down next to Liu Sixi.

“Sister, this is none other than the famous Doctor Jiang.” Liu Sixi’s tone was full of surprise.

"Dr. Jiang?" Liu Sisi didn't know much about this person; she had only heard Gu Lingchen mention him once.

"Fifth Brother, if Grandpa is Doctor Jiang, then why would you be an apprentice at the pharmacy? With such a powerful doctor right in front of you." Liu Sisi stopped mid-sentence.

It's inappropriate to say this because we don't know if the other party is willing to take on an apprentice.

“Sixi is a talented child. I just talked to him a lot about herbs. Although he doesn’t understand medical theory, he knows a lot about the effects of these herbs. If he is willing to learn, I can take him as my apprentice,” Doctor Jiang replied.

"I'll go tell my parents right away." Liu Sixi got up and went to find Liu Dashi and Wu Shi.

Liu Dashi and Wu were also shocked when they heard this, and then they realized what was happening.

Madam Wu said, "Son, the divine doctor's injuries haven't healed yet! What's the rush? You can become his apprentice after the old man is healed."

"Okay," Liu Sixi was still a child after all, and unable to contain his joy, he went back to chat with Doctor Jiang.

After the meal, Wu and Liu Sisi made kimchi again, chatting as they worked.

Madam Wu said, "Daughter, we'll hold your eldest brother's wedding in two days. Your second brother and the others will also be back on vacation at that time."

Liu Sisi: "Mother, if it's so urgent, will there be enough time to prepare the wedding dress and other things?"

Madam Wu: "It's not too late. Your sister Ping'er has already made her wedding dress herself. Those bandits didn't want her clothes, so the dress is still in good condition. Mother's silver notes are still there too. Luckily, my trunk was under the bed, so they didn't take it."

"Just ask your older brother to go to the county to buy some more items needed for the wedding."

"Okay, I'll go prepare a wedding gift for my brother after I finish making the kimchi."

The next morning, Liu Dashi informed the villagers that his family was going to hold a wedding for his eldest son the following day.

Then they went to Zhou Lizheng's house. "Uncle Zhou, my son Sifu is having his wedding tomorrow. If you have time, please come and support him."

Then he took another tael of silver and gave it to Zhou Lizheng, saying, "Uncle, I was so busy that I forgot. My family has not yet paid the rent for the house we stayed at with your relatives. Please accept this."

"No need, why pay rent? Take it back quickly. We'll definitely be there for the child's wedding tomorrow." Zhou Lizheng refused to accept the money.

"Uncle, please accept this. I'll need your help a lot more in the future! How can I ask you for help again if you don't accept it?" Liu Dashi put the silver on the table and left.

They went to the old house as well. Only Old Wang and Liu Yuanshan were at home. Liu Erlin and Liu Sanzhu had taken their children to their mothers' homes to complain. Their family had been robbed by bandits and they had no money, so they went to their mothers' homes to beg for money.

Liu Dashi simply told them about his son getting married and then left without staying any longer.

"Sigh, I guess Da Shi has lost our hearts," Liu Yuanshan said, looking at his eldest son's figure.

"What do you mean by 'disloyal'? You heartless ingrate! You don't even know how to help your parents and brothers now that things are better," Old Wang scolded.

Liu Yuanshan didn't say anything, not wanting to argue with this stupid woman.

The following evening, Liu Siqiang, Liu Siping, Liu Si'an, and Liu Sile were all picked up by Liu Dashi and brought back.

"Second brother, third brother, fourth brother, little brother," Liu Sisi said, grabbing her brothers' sleeves and acting coquettishly as soon as she saw them. "You're finally back! I've missed you all so much!"

Liu Siqiang patted Liu Sisi's head, "Your brothers miss you too!" Liu Siping and Liu Si'an also patted their sister's head, just like their second brother.

Only Liu Sile pounced on Liu Sisi, saying, "Sister, I missed you so much! The food at the academy is terrible." Liu Sile's pouting lips were especially adorable.

"Haha, you just want your sister's food, don't you?" Liu Sisi teased her younger brother, then took out a piece of candy from her spatial storage, removed the wrapper, and said, "Here you go."

Wow, my sister is the best! Liu Sile happily took the candy and went to find her parents.

During dinner, Liu Sixi's older brothers were all in his room decorating his wedding room.

Liu Sisi pulled Li Caiping over, took out her makeup bag from her spatial storage, and gave Li Caiping a makeup trial.

Although Li Caiping had questions about Liu Sile's strange things, she didn't ask. She knew that if she could find out, she would tell her.

If she can't know, asking would be worse.

"Sister Ping'er, you'll be my sister-in-law tomorrow! I'll try out a few makeup looks for you today, and you can see which one you like best. That's the one we'll use tomorrow." Liu Sisi started trying on makeup, thinking about the ancient brides she had watched in TV dramas.

After trying on her makeup, Wu took Li Caiping to her room and gave her 10 taels of silver as a betrothal gift.

Li Caiping refused to accept the dowry, saying, "I am already very satisfied to be able to marry Brother Sifu. I don't need a dowry."

"Here, this is for you. Keep it safe. You are my first daughter-in-law, so I will definitely give you a betrothal gift. I will also give gifts when Siqiang and the others get married in the future."

Hearing their conversation, Liu Sisi went in and advised, "Sister Ping'er, you should still accept the betrothal gifts. I also have something to give you!"

After she finished speaking, she took out a wooden box from her hand. Inside was a small ornament with two little red figures on the left and right, and a small glass ball in the middle containing water and sparkling things. These were the small ornaments she had bought from the supermarket.

"Sisi, this...this is too precious!" Li Caiping had heard that glass was extremely valuable.

"It's not expensive, it's very cheap," I said. "I bought it from a small vendor, Sister Ping, take it quickly."

Li Caiping was so moved she couldn't speak. She hugged Wu Shi and then Liu Sisi. "I must have done a lot of good deeds in my past life to have met such wonderful family members like you in this life."
