Chapter 34 The Wedding Ends

Wu and Liu Sisi hugged Li Caiping back, and the mother and her children chatted until late afternoon before going to sleep.

The next morning, Liu Sisi got up very early to do Li Caiping's makeup. They didn't hire a makeup artist, as Liu Sisi was quite good at makeup herself. Li Caiping was very satisfied with a Chinese-style bridal makeup look she had tried yesterday, so they would do her makeup based on that look today.

Several older brothers also got up early to help their mother prepare the things needed for the banquet.

Since Li Caiping didn't have a family to rely on, she originally wanted to stay at someone's house for one night, but time was a bit tight. Li Caiping said it was okay, she could get married from her own room, so she didn't bother anyone else.

Gu Lingchen didn't come today, saying he had some business in the capital and had to go back first. However, he left someone here and sent someone to bring the wedding gifts, which included a pair of jade mandarin ducks.

Originally, Liu Dashi was unwilling to accept gifts. The villagers had just been robbed by bandits and had no money to give as gifts. He just wanted someone to show their support and make things lively.

But Gu Lingchen's men said that this was their master's order and they couldn't take it, so he left the things behind and left.

Besides Zhou Lizheng, who gave 100 copper coins, the others also gave some grains, such as coarse rice.

The village aunties arrived early to help, and the group from the old house also came. Hearing that they were coming to Uncle's house for a feast, Liu Erwa, Liu Dalang, Liu Xiaohua, and the other children were overjoyed.

Only Liu Da-wa had a sour face, "because Grandpa told him in advance that he was not allowed to cause trouble or speak ill of his cousins."

Zhou Lizheng was invited to officiate the wedding.

First bow to heaven and earth, second bow to parents, husband and wife bow to each other, then they are led into the bridal chamber.

After exchanging greetings, Li Caiping went to Liu Sifu's room to wait.

The two rooms weren't far apart, except that Li Caiping had moved from the third floor to Liu Sifu's room on the second floor after marrying him.

Liu Sifu greeted the guests from the village outside. Fearing that his wife might be hungry, Liu Sifu specially put some pastries he had bought in the county town the day before in his room.

Today is the wedding, and the banquet has been specially prepared, with four meat dishes and three vegetable dishes.

Stir-fried eggs with chives, braised fish, stir-fried river shrimp, stir-fried pork with chili peppers, mushroom soup, stir-fried pork with tofu, stir-fried pork with cucumber, and stir-fried cabbage.

The villagers were stunned by the lavish feast. "My God, wasn't the Da Shi family robbed by bandits? How do they still have the money to host such a feast?"

"What do you know? Didn't you see a well-dressed servant come to the wedding this morning? They've probably got in touch with some high-ranking official's son. He can just give them a little something, and that'll be enough to cover the cost of the banquet."

The villagers ate and talked amongst themselves, but no matter how much they talked, they didn't dare to speak too loudly. They saw that Liu Dashi's family was getting better and better, and that they had gotten involved with a rich young master, so they felt that they couldn't afford to offend them.

Old Wang acted as if she had never eaten before, using her chopsticks to put food into her bamboo bowl as she ate, wanting to finish it and take it home. Her two daughters-in-law did the same, wishing they could take all the food off the table.

Later on, they simply left that table for them, and everyone else went to other tables.

Liu Yuanshan felt he had completely lost face, but he didn't care anymore. He was used to losing face all the time, and he didn't want to erect a memorial arch for his chastity anymore.

Liu Sisi was the first to finish eating, and after eating, she filled another bowl with rice and went to Liu Sifu's room.

"Sister-in-law, I'm here. Are you starving? Come and have some food." Liu Sisi placed the bowl in Li Caiping's hands.

“Little sister, I’m not hungry yet! Your older brother left a lot of pastries in his room so I can eat them when I get hungry,” Li Caiping replied.

"So it turns out that my brother is so good at taking care of his wife. I've been worrying too much. Let's leave it here for now, sister-in-law, you can eat it when you're hungry."

"good."

Liu Sisi left the room and went to find Liu Sile. The little guy had eaten a lot of greasy food today, so Liu Sisi gave him a handful of wedding candies that she had wrapped in oil paper beforehand.

"My sister is the best, hehe." Liu Sile couldn't stop smiling.

At this moment, Liu Sanzhu's daughter, Liu Xiaohua, came up to Liu Sile and Liu Sisi, "Cousin, cousin, what are you doing? Can I play with you?"

Liu Sisi didn't have much of an impression of this cousin. She was quite young, had no conflicts with the original owner, and their relationship wasn't particularly good. She guessed that Liu Sanzhu and his wife wanted him to come over and try to get closer to her.

Liu Sisi handed her a piece of candy and said, "Take it and eat it yourself, don't give it to anyone else, go play!" Liu Sisi didn't have a good impression of Liu Dalang; he was arrogant, domineering, and annoying, so she told Liu Xiaohua to eat it herself.

"Wow, thank you, cousin, you're so kind," Liu Xiaohua said happily, hugging Liu Sisi's leg.

It seems that this cousin hasn't been led astray yet. Perhaps because she's a girl and still young, she's not valued, and Liu Sanzhu and his wife aren't willing to put in the effort for her.

At the end of Shenshi (3-5 PM), Liu Sifu finally finished his work and returned to his bridal chamber.

He quickly went over and lifted his bride's veil. Li Caiping was already beautiful, and with the bridal makeup Liu Sisi had done for her, plus the bright red wedding dress, she looked especially radiant. Her shy, apple-red face was even more alluring.

Liu Sifu swallowed hard, muttering, "Wife, you're so beautiful."

Li Caiping blushed even more as she looked at Liu Sifu's handsome face.

Liu Sifu drank quite a bit today, judging from the situation...

Not long after, some noises came from the new house, and the birds outside Liu Sifu's window seemed to be startled and all flew away.

The next day, Li Caiping wanted to get up early to cook, but Liu Sifu wouldn't let her get up, saying that she had worked hard last night and that she should sleep a little longer, as he would cook for his mother and father this morning.

Wu also got up early. When she saw that Liu Sifu was up to cook, she didn't ask anything. It was a good thing that he cared for his wife.

Liu Sifu was afraid that his mother would misunderstand, "Mother, Ping'er wanted to cook, but I didn't let her. She was exhausted last night."

"You brat, take it easy on me and watch my daughter-in-law's health," Wu said, rubbing Liu Sifu's forehead.

"Hehe, I know, Mom," Liu Sifu replied to his mother while chopping vegetables.

Liu Sisi came out of her room with a mischievous grin. "Hehe, I can tease my sister-in-law again today."
