Chapter 248 You are the one I have chosen, and this will never change in my life!

Fu Linghe took a deep breath, his chest rising and falling slightly. His fingertips paused on the door handle for a moment before slowly pressing it down.

The door slid open silently, and warm yellow light poured out like water, outlining Yun Zheng's thin figure.

She sat on the edge of the bed, her slender fingers tightly gripping the sheets, her knuckles turning white from the force, and deep wrinkles were created in the soft fabric by her pinching.

When she heard the door open, her shoulders trembled slightly, but she didn't look up, she just lowered her face even more.

Fu Linghe paused at the door, his Adam's apple rolled, as if something was stuck in his throat, making it difficult for him to breathe.

Two days.

For two whole days since returning from Country A, she locked herself in this room, refusing anyone to approach her. Even he was isolated outside by the thin door.

He stood outside the door, sometimes for hours.

Fu Linghe admitted that he was worried about her, but at the same time he understood that she needed time to be alone and quiet.

He approached cautiously, his leather shoes making no sound on the carpet.

Fu Linghe half-knelt in front of her, looked up at her, his eyes tracing every inch of her pale little face.

"Zheng Zheng." He called her softly, his voice hoarse as if it had been rubbed by sandpaper, with undisguised heartache.

Yun Zheng finally raised her eyes slowly, her eyelashes were wet with tears still hanging on them.

Her eyes were red and her nose was a faint pink, she looked extremely fragile.

Her lips trembled slightly, as if she wanted to say something, but she pursed her lips, and in the end, she just shed two lines of tears silently.

Fu Linghe's heart sank violently, as if it was being gripped by an invisible hand.

He reached out, placed his palm on her cheek, and gently wiped the wet tear marks under her eyes with his thumb, the warmth of his fingertips ironing her cold skin.

"Be good, don't cry." Fu Linghe coaxed her in a low voice, his voice low and gentle, as if he was afraid of disturbing her.

But when people feel most wronged, the more they hear comfort from their loved ones, the more they cannot control their emotions.

Yun Zheng's tears suddenly burst out, and big drops of them fell on the back of his hand, so hot that they almost burned his skin.

"I'm sorry..." She choked, her voice so weak that it was almost inaudible, as if it came from far away, "I made you worry... But Fu Linghe, I... I don't know what to do..."

Fu Linghe couldn't bear it any longer, and pulled her into his arms, wrapping his arms tightly around her thin body.

His chin rested on the top of her head, and his breath was filled with the faint scent of jasmine from her body, mixed with the salty taste of her tears.

"No need to apologize." The man's voice was deep, with unquestionable firmness. "You don't need to apologize for anything."

Yun Zheng buried her face in his shoulder, her tears soaking his shirt, the wet and hot touch seeping through the fabric into his skin.

She grabbed Fu Linghe's clothes, her fingertips trembling slightly, like a drowning person grabbing the last piece of driftwood.

"I won't recognize them, but I can't change the fact that I have the blood of the Mo family in my body." Yun Zheng looked straight into Fu Linghe's eyes, her tone firm but with a hint of tentativeness, "Do you... mind?"

"It's not important." Fu Linghe interrupted her, placing his palm on the back of her head and gently ruffling her long hair. "Nothing else matters, only you are the most important."

Yun Zheng's breathing stagnated for a moment, and her tears flowed even more violently, like a flood that broke through a dam and could not be stopped.

Fu Linghe lowered his head, gently placed his lips on the top of her hair, and kissed her soft hair. His voice was incredibly gentle, "Zheng Zheng, look at me."

Yun Zheng slowly raised her head from his arms, her eyes were red, the tip of her nose was also red, like a frightened little rabbit, even her eyelashes were wet in clumps, shining in the light.

Fu Linghe stared at her, his deep eyes filled with heartache and determination.

He said word by word, "No matter whose daughter you are, whether you choose to acknowledge them or not, it won't change anything."

"I love Yun Zheng. It has nothing to do with your identity, your family, or your career. I simply love you as a person and everything about you."

This was not the first time Fu Linghe had said these words to Yun Zheng. Every word he said was something he could actually do, not just talk.

He paused, gently brushed the corner of her eye with his thumb, wiped away the tear that was about to fall, and whispered, "You are my wife, Fu Linghe, and the only person I love in this life. Yun Zheng, since I have chosen you, this will never change in this life."

His voice was soft, yet it weighed a thousand pounds, and every word was deeply engraved in her heart.

"So, don't be afraid. No matter what happens, I will stand behind you unconditionally."

Yun Zheng's tears suddenly burst out, and she threw herself into his arms, hugged his neck tightly with her arms, buried her face in his neck, and cried like a lost child who finally found his way home.

Her shoulders trembled violently, and hot tears slid down his neck, burning his heart and making it ache.

"I don't want to embarrass you..." She sobbed, her voice intermittent, almost incoherent, "The relationship between the Mo family and the Fu family..."

"Shh." Fu Linghe patted her back gently and chuckled, his chest shaking slightly. "Do you think I care about those things?"

"I know you don't care, but Fu Linghe, you have to think carefully. You are not the only one in the Fu family."

It’s not that Yun Zheng doesn’t trust him, but the family relationships of a century-old family like the Fu family are inherently complicated and intricate.

If Fu Linghe takes a wrong step, he might lose everything.

Although Yun Zheng did not recognize the Mo family, her life experience was there. If it was known by someone with ulterior motives, it would definitely bring trouble to Fu Linghe.

This is what Yun Zheng has always been worried about.

She also had a clear understanding of herself. Even if she recognized the Mo family, she was not important enough to make them completely let go of their grudge with the Fu family.

If Yun Zheng had known that so many things would happen in Country A, she would rather have never set foot on that land.

Unfortunately, what this world lacks most is the medicine for regret.

Fu Linghe held her face, rested his forehead against hers, and gently rubbed his nose against hers, their breaths mingling.

His voice was low and gentle, carrying the power to soothe everything. "I just want you to be happy. I'll take care of the rest."

Yun Zheng stared at him blankly, tears still hanging on her eyelashes, looking like they were about to fall away, looking both pitiful and cute.

Fu Linghe rubbed his thumb across her cheek, the warmth of his fingertips gradually soothing her anxiety.

His eyes were gentle and firm, like a beacon in the dark night, always guiding her. "Trust me, huh?"

Yun Zheng finally nodded, but she couldn't stop crying. Her tears slid down her cheeks and fell into his palm.

Fu Linghe lowered his head and gently kissed away the tears from the corners of her eyes. The salty taste spread across his lips, but it made him feel even more distressed.

"Don't cry, my heart will break if you keep crying." He coaxed in a low voice, with helplessness and doting in his voice.

Yun Zheng burst into laughter and hit him lightly, with a soft force, as if she was acting coquettishly.

Fu Linghe also smiled, reached out to hug her tighter, rested his chin on the top of her head, and stroked it gently.

Outside the window, the moonlight penetrated the clouds again, and the silvery light sprinkled on the floor, quiet and gentle, like a silent guardian.

Outside the door, Cen Lian leaned against the wall, listening to the crying in the room gradually subside, and finally breathed a sigh of relief.

She turned and went downstairs, leaving the space to the young couple, and asked the housekeeper Feng downstairs to tell them that she was going home before leaving.

The night is still long, but at least Yun Zheng is no longer alone, and she doesn't have to endure this long night alone.
