Chapter 250 She Hasn't Had a Good Rest for Several Days

Tanxiyuan, master bedroom.

The night outside the window deepens, and the soft moonlight shines through the gauze curtains, casting mottled shadows on the floor.

Yun Zheng still lazily nestled in Fu Linghe's arms, the faint scent of cedar lingering on the tip of her nose, and the sound of his steady heartbeat in her ears.

Fu Linghe's palms were warm and strong, and his bony hands gently stroked Yun Zheng's back, as if comforting a frightened kitten.

He lowered his eyes and stared at her pale profile, her thick eyelashes casting a shadow on her eye sockets.

The seafood porridge on the bedside table was still steaming, with a few rice grains on the edge of the white porcelain bowl.

The warmth from that small half bowl of food spread from her stomach to her whole body, finally reviving her consciousness that had been frozen for two days.

Yun Zheng curled her fingers unconsciously and touched the cold cufflinks on Fu Linghe's shirt.

She suddenly realized that she was still wearing the clothes she had worn two days ago, and her hair felt slightly greasy.

She struggled slightly, her long eyelashes trembling slightly, "Fu Linghe, I want to take a shower."

"I'll go run you a bath." Fu Linghe immediately loosened his arms and stood up, bringing a breeze.

The silk sheets left a few wrinkles where he left them, and then slowly stretched out again.

Her mental state has not been very good recently, so Fu Linghe naturally did not tease her or rush to help her wash.

But when he turned around, a trace of imperceptible heartache flashed in his eyes.

Yun Zheng looked at the man's well-defined profile, her eyes fell on his slightly rolling Adam's apple, and she nodded slightly.

Five minutes later, Fu Linghe walked out of the bathroom filled with hot steam. The cuffs of his white shirt had been rolled up to his elbows, revealing his strong forearms.

He stopped beside Yun Zheng and reached out to touch the top of her head.

But she saw through his intention first and immediately stepped back without leaving a trace, her hair scraping against the silk pillowcase and making a slight sound. "No, my hair is too greasy, I hate it myself."

Fu Linghe ignored her resistance, gently curled the corners of his lips, and a doting smile appeared at the corners of his eyes.

He reached out and ruffled her hair without hesitation, his fingertips running through the slightly greasy strands. His tone was so gentle as if he was afraid of disturbing the morning dew, "I don't mind!"

Yun Zheng didn't know what to say, and just looked up at him blankly.

The halo of the wall lamp cast a soft warm color on his well-defined face, making even his usually sharp jawline look a little gentler.

"Okay, go ahead. I've lowered the water temperature a little." Fu Linghe helped Yun Zheng up, placing his palm on her thin shoulder blades, and could clearly feel the outline of the bones.

His voice was low and controlled, "You haven't eaten properly in two days. The water is too hot and you'll feel dizzy."

He paused, his Adam's apple rolling up and down, and continued, "I'll wait for you outside. Call me if you need anything."

As he said this, his thumb unconsciously stroked her shoulder, like a silent comfort.

Yun Zheng nodded slightly, and as she turned, the hem of her silk robe brushed against his suit trouser legs. The bathroom door closed gently with a soft click.

In the bathroom, jasmine aroma slowly spreads in the steam.

When Yun Zheng lay in the bathtub, tiny ripples appeared on the water surface, hitting the edge of the white ceramic.

She reached out and wiped away the mist on the mirror. Water droplets slid down her fingertips, leaving winding water marks on the sink.

Outside the door, Fu Linghe's cell phone vibrated on the solid wood coffee table, making a dull buzzing sound.

His deep voice was unclear through the frosted glass, and occasionally the sound of leather shoes stepping on the floor could be heard.

When Yun Zheng was drying herself, she found that the pajamas prepared by Fu Linghe were neatly hung on the heated towel rack, still warm.

The lavender silk fabric caused a slight shiver when it touched the skin.

The belt around Yun Zheng's waist hung loosely, swaying gently with her steps.

As she walked out of the bathroom barefoot, water droplets dripped from the ends of her hair, leaving dark spots on the marble floor.

Fu Linghe was standing in front of the floor-to-ceiling window with his back to her. The lights outside the window were just coming on, and the city's neon lights cast changing light and shadows on his tall figure.

His knuckles were slightly white as he held the phone, and his trouser legs were still stained with coffee stains that he had accidentally spilled in his hurry, spreading a dark color on the dark fabric.

Hearing the noise, he turned around, creating a breeze, and the gold-rimmed glasses chain drew a fine golden light in the air.

His gaze lingered on her overly long sleeves for a moment, and the corners of his mouth rose slightly, making him look a little softer.

"These pajamas were clearly custom-made according to your size, but they're already oversized for you after just a short time." He walked over, his silk pajamas rustling with his movements.

As he knelt on one knee and rolled up her sleeves, the short stubble on the back of her neck shone with a bluish-black luster under the light, and his movements were gentle.

Yun Zheng let him fiddle with her, then suddenly spoke, her voice still slightly hoarse from showering, "Who called just now?"

Fu Linghe's fingers paused for a second, and the movement of rolling up his sleeves faltered slightly. "Company matters."

He answered too quickly, his eyes flickered behind his glasses, and he subconsciously raised his hand to loosen his tie, even though he had already unbuttoned the first button of his collar.

Yun Zheng didn't ask any further questions, but just gently adjusted her oversized collar, her slender collarbone faintly visible under the silk fabric.

"Get some sleep." Fu Linghe pulled back the covers. The freshly changed light blue sheets smelled of sunshine. He adjusted the corners of the quilt very gently, as if he was afraid to disturb something.

After Yun Zheng lay down, the silk quilt covered her body as lightly as if it were nothing.

But instead of leaving as usual, he sat in the armchair beside the bed.

He picked up a document casually, and the brown paper bag made a slight crisp sound in his hand.

"Don't you need to go to the study?" Yun Zheng asked, her voice already tinged with sleepiness.

She half-closed her eyes and saw the light from the desk lamp dancing on his gold-rimmed glasses.

Fu Linghe flipped open the file, the papers rustling in the quiet room. "It doesn't matter where you do the work. I can be with you and get work done here."

His voice was soft, but his eyes never left the document, only his fingers gripping the pen tightened slightly.

Yun Zheng closed her eyes and heard the sound of the evening breeze blowing through the treetops outside the window.

In a daze, she heard Fu Linghe sigh softly, and the rustling sound of the pen scratching on the paper continued, occasionally interspersed with the sound of him turning pages.

The lavender incense on the bedside table burned quietly, a wisp of green smoke curled up and gradually dissipated in the warm yellow light.
