Chapter 265 He Won’t!
Fu Linghe slowly stood up from the leather chair, and slammed the pen heavily on the table with his slender fingers. The collision of metal and solid wood made a crisp "click" sound.
He raised his hand to loosen his tie, and his bony fingers loosened the knot a little, but it made him look even more dangerous and aggressive.
Fu Linghe picked up the suit jacket draped over the back of the chair, stretched out his arms and threw the jacket over his shoulders. His movements were smooth but carried a suffocating sense of oppression.
He walked out of the president's office and strode straight towards the elevator. His shiny leather shoes made a dull sound as they stepped on the marble floor, and every step seemed to be stepping on people's hearts.
The moment the elevator door opened, Fu Linghe raised his hand and pressed the button for the underground garage. The mirrored elevator wall reflected his extremely gloomy face.
He stared at the constantly jumping floor numbers, his Adam's apple rolled, and dark emotions surged in his eyes.
Yun Zheng actually lied to him!
She clearly said that she was going to see Cen Lian'an, and he believed her.
But she secretly ran to see the Mo family.
When Fu Linghe arrived at the garage, the driver had already started the car and parked it at the elevator entrance.
As soon as he came out, he got directly into the driver's seat and drove towards the Junlan Hotel.
Fu Linghe's knuckles tightened on the steering wheel, turning white, and the speedometer needle continued to climb.
The scenery outside the car window quickly receded, blurring into a dark patch of light and shadow.
There was a fire burning in his chest, not from anger, but from a worry that almost suffocated him.
That bastard Mo Shian had already caused her to have an emotional breakdown last time. Now that she was going to meet them alone, would she be provoked again?
Thinking of this, he pressed the accelerator down a little more.
His taut jawline was reflected in the rearview mirror, and the coldness in his eyes almost froze the air.
Fu Linghe recalled how she stood at the entrance this morning to send him off to work, so gentle and well-behaved. Who would have thought that she would lie to him!
Yun Zheng lied to him, he should have been angry.
But compared to being angry, he was more afraid that she would be wronged and irritated!
The red light came on and he slammed on the brakes, making a screeching sound as the tires rubbed against the ground.
His fingers tapped an anxious rhythm on the steering wheel, his eyes fixed on the front, as if he could see through the distance and see her expression clearly.
The moment the green light came on, he stepped on the accelerator without hesitation, and the car rushed out like an arrow.
——
On the other side, Junlan Hotel.
Yun Zheng's fingers unconsciously stroked the edge of the cup, and the warm water in the cup was gradually cooling down.
She took a deep breath and looked up to meet Mr. Mo's kind gaze.
"I'm grateful you came to me," she said softly, each word clearly, "but I find myself feeling as if I haven't fully accepted you yet."
Mo Shian frowned and wanted to speak but was stopped by the old man's look.
"Son, we understand your concerns." Mr. Mo slowly set down his teacup, the bottom of the cup making a slight sound as it touched the coffee table. "But blood ties are something that time can't change."
The sunlight from outside the window shines in through the gauze curtains, casting mottled light and shadow on Yun Zheng's profile.
She tilted her head slightly to avoid the overly warm light.
"I need time to think about it," she finally said, tapping her fingertips lightly on the cup. "And I don't want you to stay in the capital because of me."
Mo Shi'an stood up suddenly, "I can guarantee that our staying here will not disturb your life."
"Because this place is as unsafe for you as Fu Linghe is in Country A!" Yun Zheng suddenly raised her voice, the water cup trembling slightly in her hand. "The capital is the Fu family's territory. You know the feud between the two families better than I do."
She didn't finish her words, but the warning in her words made the air in the room freeze instantly.
Mr. Mo looked at her seriously, "Are you worried about our safety?"
Yun Zheng turned away, her long eyelashes drooping to hide the emotion in her eyes. "I'm just stating the facts. Country A is your territory. It's safer there."
"What about you?" Mo Shi'an suddenly asked, "Although you haven't decided whether to recognize us, you are a descendant of the Mo family after all. Fu Linghe can accept you, but what about the other members of the Fu family?"
"Will they use your background against you?"
Yun Zheng was quite surprised that Mo Shian would consider these things, as they were exactly the same as her concerns at the time.
Yun Zheng's fingertips trembled slightly, and the ripples in the water cup reflected the fluctuations in her eyes.
She didn't expect Mo Shian to expose her previous concerns so bluntly.
"The Fu family's affairs..." She pursed her lips, her voice so soft that it was almost inaudible, "Fu Linghe will handle it. I trust him."
Yun Zheng put down her water cup, and the bottom of the cup hit the glass coffee table with a crisp sound. She stood up, and the hem of her skirt swayed slightly with her movement.
"I should go." She said softly, looking at Mr. Mo calmly.
Mr. Mo sighed, pulled out a gold-stamped business card from his suit pocket, and handed it to her: "Child, whenever you want to contact us, you can call this number."
Yun Zheng looked down at the business card, her fingertips hovering in mid-air, hesitating slightly. Finally, she reached out and took it, gently pinching it between her fingers.
"I'll think about it," she whispered. "But it probably won't lead to anything in the short term."
Mo Shian frowned and stared at Yun Zheng blankly, "Zheng Zheng, we only..."
"I know." She interrupted him, her voice soft but firm. "But some things can't be changed overnight. There's no point in you staying here; it'll only distract me."
She raised her eyes, her gaze clear and calm. "Go back to Country A. That's where you belong."
Mr. Mo looked at her deeply and nodded slowly. "Okay, we respect your decision." He paused. "But remember, as long as you need it, the Mo family will always have your back."
Yun Zheng's lips twitched slightly, but she didn't respond. She put the business card in her bag and turned to walk towards the door.
Mo Shian suddenly spoke up, "If he makes you suffer, I won't let him go. I will take you away."
Yun Zheng paused, didn't look back, and just smiled softly: "He won't."
After she finished speaking, she pushed open the door, and the light from the corridor poured in, outlining her back as slender and firm.
The door slowly closed, and the room fell into a brief silence.
Mo Shian scratched his hair irritably, "Grandpa, are we leaving just like that?"
Mr. Mo stood up with the help of a cane, his eyes deep. "She is more sober and independent-minded than we thought."
He looked at the closed door and said, "Give her some time. She has to walk some paths on her own."
Yun Zheng walked out of the hotel, and the cool winter breeze blew away the heaviness in her chest.
She stood on the steps, looked down at the business card in her hand, and gently stroked the gold-plated font with her fingertips.
Finally, she put it in the innermost part of her bag.
