Chapter 358: Hypnosis Treatment for Amnesia

Chapter 358 Hypnosis Treatment for Amnesia

The lights in the emergency room were blindingly bright.

Yun Zheng stood outside the door, her nails digging into her palms, but she didn't feel any pain.

Fu Linghe's hand was on her shoulder, and the warmth from the man's palm seemed to be the only touch that could prove that she was still alive.

"What's going on?" Mo Chenfeng's voice came from the end of the corridor, accompanied by hurried footsteps.

The buttons on his suit jacket were all wrong, and a few wisps of gray hair were scattered at his usually meticulous temples.

Yun Zheng opened her mouth, but no sound came out.

Her vision blurred and she could only see the ink stains on Mo Chenfeng's cuffs.

Fu Linghe hugged Yun Zheng tighter and answered in a low voice, "She heard the hypnotist arrive and became agitated..."

Mo Chenfeng's face turned pale in an instant.

He turned towards the door of the emergency room, his fingers unconsciously stroking the wedding ring on his left ring finger, which was engraved with the same lotus pattern as Yun Zheng's longevity lock.

"It's my fault..." Yun Zheng finally found her voice, the longevity lock rising and falling with her trembling breaths, "I shouldn't have mentioned it in front of her..."

"No, Zheng Zheng." Mo Chenfeng suddenly turned around and held Yun Zheng's hand. His palm was cold but strong. "This is not your fault."

The doctor hurried out of the emergency room in a white coat, a medical mask covering most of his face. "The high fever convulsion caused by the lung infection has been brought under control."

Mo Shian arrived at some point and stood aside.

His gaze lingered on Yun Zheng's face, and his voice deepened, "Mom previously underwent hypnosis therapy, so she has a post-traumatic stress reaction to these two words."

Yun Zheng looked up suddenly. "What hypnosis treatment?"

The bench in the corridor was cold and hard. Mo Chenfeng sat opposite Yun Zheng with his hands clasped together and placed against his forehead.

This man who was once a powerful figure in the business world looked exhausted at the moment.

"Five years ago, after learning you'd been switched at the hospital," his voice seemed to come from far away, "Ning Zhi's depression had become so severe she was self-harming. The doctor recommended hypnotherapy to temporarily block out that memory."

Fu Linghe's fingers suddenly tightened, and Yun Zheng felt a dull pain in her shoulder.

But she didn't dodge, the pain made her more awake.

"The treatment failed?" she asked softly.

Mo Chenfeng smiled bitterly. "The hypnotist said he'd never seen such a strong obsession. Ning Zhi's subconscious mind refused to forget, even though that memory was excruciating."

He raised his head, tears in his eyes. "She would rather remember the pain than forget you."

Yun Zheng's chest felt like it was hit by a sledgehammer.

She looked down at the longevity lock around her neck, and her distorted reflection was reflected on the silver lock surface.

The four small words "My daughter is safe" on the inside of the chain now burned her skin like a branding iron.

The lights in the emergency room finally went out.

The attending physician came out, took off his mask and breathed a sigh of relief. "He's stable for now, but needs to be transferred to the ICU for observation."

Mo Shi'an patted Yun Zheng's shoulder: "I'll go prepare the ward. You..." He paused, "Don't blame yourself."

Yun Zheng nodded mechanically.

Her gaze passed through the slowly opening door of the emergency room and fell on the pale figure on the stretcher.

Ning Zhi's hair was scattered on the pillow, like a pool of dried blood.

Medical staff were adjusting the various tubes in her body. Liquids of different colors were flowing in those transparent tubes, like evidence of life being forced into her body.

"Can I come in?" Yun Zheng asked in a low voice.

The doctor hesitated for a moment and looked at Mo Chenfeng.

The latter nodded slightly, "Let her in, it'll only take five minutes."

The lights in the ICU are more glaring than those in the corridor.

Yun Zheng stood in front of the bed, but didn't dare to touch her.

Ning Zhi's wrist was covered with new and old needle holes, like a fragile porcelain doll that would break at the slightest touch.

Yun Zheng clutched the corner of her clothes tightly, her eyes never leaving her pale face.

"You must get better." She said softly, her voice choked with sobs, "We still have a lot to say..."

The monitor made a regular "beeping" sound, disturbing Yun Zheng's already confused mood.

Yun Zheng carefully avoided various pipes, took off the longevity lock, and gently placed it next to Ning Zhi's pillow.

"It's my turn to protect you this time," she said.

Fu Linghe was waiting for her outside the ICU.

Seeing Yun Zheng coming out, he immediately took a step forward, but stopped when he was about to touch her.

Yun Zheng's eyes were terribly empty, as if her soul had been pulled out of her body.

"Zheng Zheng." he called in a low voice.

Yun Zheng did not respond.

She slid slowly down to sit on the floor, leaning against the wall, her arms wrapped around her knees, making her look like a lost child.

Fu Linghe squatted down, his silver hair falling in front of his forehead, covering his red eyes.

"It's not your fault," he said.

Yun Zheng shook her head, her long hair falling to cover her face. "If I hadn't gone in..."

"She'll be fine." Fu Linghe interrupted her. "The doctors at Mo's private hospital are all top-notch. They won't let anything happen to Mom."

This was the first time Fu Linghe called Ning Zhi "Mom".

Yun Zheng raised her head and saw the same self-blame in Fu Linghe's eyes as her own.

Mo Shian's voice came from behind, "The ICU is under guard, and my father has also arranged bodyguards. You should rest."

He held two cups of hot chocolate in his hands, and the one he handed to Yun Zheng was deliberately made less sweet.

Yun Zheng took the cup, and in the steam she saw her brother's tired but gentle smile.

Mo Shian is always like this, guarding this home attentively.

"I won't leave," she said stubbornly. "I want to wait until she wakes up."

Mo Shian and Fu Linghe exchanged glances.

He sighed, squatted down and looked Yun Zheng in the eye. "You haven't had a good rest in a long time. Your blood sugar is dangerously low. If Mom wakes up and sees you like this, she will definitely be heartbroken."

"Zheng Zheng, be obedient and come back to the old house with me tonight. Come back tomorrow morning."

Yun Zheng has been staying in the hospital for the past month, and it is completely impossible for her to get a good rest.

"The Mo family's old house is only a twenty-minute drive from the hospital." Mo Shi'an continued, "Take a hot bath and get some sleep. I'll personally take you back tomorrow morning."

Fu Linghe gently squeezed Yun Zheng's hand. "Zheng Zheng, go back with him and rest. I'll stay here and keep watch. I promise to notify you immediately if anything happens."

Yun Zheng looked at Fu Linghe, a trace of worry flashing in her eyes, "Your injuries haven't fully recovered yet, how can you..."

"Don't worry, Mr. Mo and I will take turns watching over you. We'll get some rest."

After Fu Linghe's earnest persuasion, Yun Zheng reluctantly nodded.

She was so tired that she didn't even have the strength to stand up.

Mo Shian picked her up without saying a word. His movements were a little awkward, but very natural.

"I'll take Zheng Zheng home to rest first. I'll leave this place to you." Mo Shi'an said this to Fu Linghe.

"Okay, please take good care of Zheng Zheng for me." Fu Linghe nodded in response.

After getting her response, Mo Shian felt relieved and left with Yun Zheng in his arms.

"Too light." He frowned. "Go home and ask the kitchen to make you some soup to nourish you."

The Mo family's stretch limousine glided quietly into the night.

Yun Zheng leaned against the car window, watching the brightly lit windows of the hospital gradually disappear into the distance.

She thought of the indentation left by the longevity lock on Ning Zhi's pillow, the needle holes on her mother's wrists, and the letters that had nowhere to be delivered in the past five years.

"Did you know?" Mo Shi'an suddenly said, "Every year on your birthday, Mother would go to the temple and kneel for a whole day and night."

Yun Zheng turned her head.

"Father said it was meaningless self-punishment, but she persisted for five years." Mo Shi'an's voice was very soft, "Fortunately, I finally found you now."

Yun Zheng's tears finally fell uncontrollably. Mo Shi'an reached out and wiped away her tears, his movements as gentle as if he was treating something fragile.

"Welcome home, sister," he said.

The car drove into the iron gate of the Mo family's old house, and the gardenias beside the fountain swayed in the night breeze.

The white flowers glowed like pearls in the moonlight.

Yun Zheng froze the moment she stepped into the living room. On the wall facing the door hung a huge family portrait.

However, she was not in the family photo, and she felt a sense of loss for no reason.

"Your room has been preserved." Mo Shi'an followed his gaze, his eyes showing a complicated expression. "I'll take you upstairs to have a look."

Yun Zheng withdrew her gaze and nodded slightly.

Mo Shian led her upstairs. "Mom cleans it herself every week."

At the end of the corridor on the second floor is a white door.

When Yun Zheng opened the door, she was stunned.

Everything in the room was arranged to her liking.

Mo Shi'an turned his head to look at Yun Zheng and whispered, "This is what Mom arranged five years ago. I don't know if you like it. If you need to change anything, tell me and I'll help you redecorate it. You can just stay here tonight."

Yun Zheng shook her head gently, "That's it, I like it very much."

"The bathroom is on the right, and the clothes are ready." Mo Shi'an pointed to the closet. "They're all new, according to your size. The tags have been removed and they've been cleaned."

Yun Zheng walked to the desk, where there was a photo frame with her photo in it.

The background of the photo is the hospital garden, where she is sitting alone on a bench. It must have been taken not long ago.

Yun Zheng's throat tightened as she looked at the photo, and she didn't know what to say.

"We've never given up looking for you." Mo Shi'an stood at the door, the light casting a long shadow behind him. "Have a good rest. We'll talk tomorrow if there's anything."

Yun Zheng nodded slightly and sent Mo Shian out.

She sat alone on the bed, looking carefully at the warmly decorated room.

Outside the window, the garden of gardenias is quietly blooming in the moonlight.
