Chapter 359: First Hypnosis

Chapter 359 First Hypnosis

Mohist Private Hospital.

Fu Linghe stood in the hospital corridor, his fingers unconsciously stroking the edge of his cell phone, his expression solemn.

The phone screen flickered on and off in his hand, just like his hesitant heart at the moment.

He stood there in a daze for a long time, turned around, entered the ward, greeted Mo Chenfeng who was guarding the bedside, and hurried out of the ward.

Fu Linghe walked straight to the elevator door.

The elevator door slid open silently, and Fu Linghe stepped in. His fingertips hovered over the floor button for a moment, and finally pressed the number for the top floor.

The metal door slowly closed, isolating him from the outside world.

The elevator began to rise, and the slight feeling of weightlessness made his stomach tighten slightly.

The mirrored wall reflected his tense face. Under his thick eyebrows were a pair of bloodshot eyes, and his jawline looked particularly sharp because of his clenched teeth.

He looked down at his phone, and the screen lit up again. The lock screen wallpaper was a sunny back view of a girl with a high ponytail, and her profile was cast in a golden shadow by the light.

Cloud kite.

This name rolled over his tongue countless times, but he could never recall any memory of her after he was 17 years old.

"We've arrived at the 17th floor." A mechanical female voice sounded, and the elevator door opened again.

Fu Linghe took a deep breath and walked towards the frosted glass door at the end of the corridor.

The gold-plated words "Psychological Clinic" on the doorplate glowed coldly under the overhead light.

He raised his hand and knocked on the door, his knuckles making a dull sound against the wooden door panel.

"Come in." A deep male voice came from inside.

When I opened the door, there was no smell of disinfectant in the whole room. Instead, there was a faint smell of sandalwood, which was very comfortable.

In the spacious office, outside the floor-to-ceiling windows are the lights of the entire city, like scattered stars.

A man in a white coat stood at the window with his back to him and turned around when he heard footsteps.

"Doctor Cheng." Fu Linghe spoke first, his voice still low.

Cheng Yushen looked to be in his early forties, with slightly graying temples. His eyes behind his gold-rimmed glasses were sharp yet gentle. "Mr. Fu is here. Please take a seat."

He gestured toward the leather sofa across from his desk. "I just finished reviewing your brain scans."

Fu Linghe did not sit down immediately, but walked to the window.

Looking down from this height, the patients walking in the hospital garden look as small as ants.

He noticed his reflection in the glass superimposed over the city lights, unreal and unreal.

"What's the success rate?" he asked bluntly, his fingers unconsciously stroking the edge of the phone.

Cheng Yushen walked up to him and handed him a cup of warm water.

"Honestly, not very high. Memory loss caused by hippocampal damage is not something hypnosis can help with." The doctor paused. "And there are risks. Dr. Jiang should have told you that."

Fu Linghe took the cup of water, and the water temperature was transmitted to his palm through the ceramic, without saying anything.

But from his actions, Cheng Yushen also knew that he knew.

"It might make you forget more." Cheng Yushen looked him straight in the eye, "even everything."

No matter if he can't hear clearly, as a doctor, he must explain to him the possible risks during the hypnosis process.

The water cup swayed slightly in Fu Linghe's hand, causing tiny ripples on the surface of the water.

His memory now stops at the age of 17, and at the age of 17 he doesn't have many memories about Yun Zheng.

And how important would her memory be to him without her?

So even if the chance of remembering it is very slim, he still wants to give it a try. The worst that can happen is that he will forget everything.

He can afford this price!

"Well, let's start." He placed the cup of water on the coffee table, and the water droplets left circular marks on the glass surface.

Cheng Yushen sighed and walked to the treatment chair on the other side of the room. "Lie down, let's try it."

The treatment chair tilted to a comfortable angle, and the leather creaked slightly when Fu Linghe lay down.

Cheng Yushen adjusted the lights, plunging the room into a soft dimness, leaving only a warm yellow desk lamp.

"Close your eyes and take a deep breath." The doctor's voice became slow and rhythmic. "Breathe in... breathe out... very good..."

Fu Linghe felt his muscles gradually relax, but his thoughts were like a wild horse that had broken free from its reins.

"Imagine you're standing in a long corridor," Cheng Yushen's voice seemed to come from far away. "There are many doors on both sides of the corridor, and behind each door is a memory of yours..."

Fu Linghe's consciousness began to blur, and he did see an endless corridor with countless closed doors on both sides.

He reached out and pushed open the nearest door, and a dazzling white light instantly hit him.

Along with the smell of disinfectant, there was the beeping sound of the ECG monitor.

This is a hospital, but not the current Mohist Hospital.

A pale girl was lying on the hospital bed, her long hair spread on the pillow like a black river.

Her eyes were closed, and her eyelashes cast a tiny shadow on her cheek.

"Who is this?" Fu Linghe muttered to himself in a hypnotic state.

"Keep reading," Cheng Yushen instructed, "and see if you can remember anything."

Sitting on the chair beside the bed, I was exhausted, holding the girl's hand and whispering something.

The girl lay there like Sleeping Beauty, lifeless.

That weak little face was like a bolt of lightning that struck Fu Linghe's heart. It was Yun Zheng!

The scene suddenly changes.

This time it was in a banquet hall, where the light from the crystal chandelier cast mottled shadows.

Yun Zheng stood in the center of the stage in a dress with a happy smile on her face, while he was half-kneeling in front of her in a well-tailored black suit, as if proposing to her...

Fu Linghe wanted to walk over, but found that he couldn't move.

The picture began to distort again and turned into a rain.

In the heavy rain, he lay covered in blood in the deformed car, and Yun Zheng was desperately banging on the door to pull him out...

"No!" Fu Linghe suddenly opened his eyes, and beads of sweat oozed from his forehead.

Cheng Yushen immediately stopped guiding, "What did you see?"

Fu Linghe sat up suddenly, his hands trembling slightly. "Fragments... all fragments."

He scratched his hair in frustration. "I saw her lying in the hospital, and I seemed to be proposing to her? But it wasn't clear, and I can't remember anything. I can't remember anything at all."

The doctor handed him a towel. "Memory recovery doesn't happen overnight. It's good enough that you can recall these fragments today."

Fu Linghe glanced at the clock on the wall and saw that an hour had passed since the hypnosis began.

He picked up his phone, and the moment the screen lit up, more than a dozen missed calls and message notifications almost filled the entire screen.

All are Yun Zheng.

"I'll call back first." Fu Linghe stood up hurriedly. He suddenly felt dizzy and had to hold on to the back of the chair to steady himself.

Cheng Yushen reached out to support him, frowning, "It's normal to feel weak after hypnosis. You need to rest."

Fu Linghe didn't say anything, but opened his phone and made a video call.

The phone was picked up after two rings, and Yun Zheng's face appeared on the screen with the Mo family's bedroom in the background.

She was wearing lavender pajamas, her hair was tied loosely behind her head, and her beautiful almond-shaped eyes were bloodshot.

"Fu Linghe! Where have you been? I called you so many times, but you didn't answer!" Her voice came through the speaker, with obvious anxiety.

Fu Linghe subconsciously adjusted the angle to ensure that the environment of the treatment room would not be in the camera.

"Sorry, my phone was dead. I just charged it." He lied, his throat tight with nervousness.

Yun Zheng narrowed her eyes and leaned closer to the screen. "Why do you look so bad? Did you not get enough rest last night?"

Her fingertips seemed to want to reach through the screen and touch his face.

"Well, I'm a little tired." Fu Linghe forced a smile.

Yun Zheng in the video frowned instantly upon hearing this. "Alright, don't keep going any longer. Go and get some rest. Don't forget that you're still a patient."

Fu Linghe pulled the corner of his mouth slightly, revealing a cynical smile on his face, "Madam, are you worried about me?"

Yun Zheng admitted it straightforwardly, "Of course I'm worried about you. You're my man."

Her voice came through the phone, with a soft reproach, "You just promised me that you would have a good rest."

Fu Linghe lowered his eyelashes, and the smile on his lips deepened. "Yes, madam, I will go to rest now."

After hanging up the phone, the smile on his face disappeared quickly like the tide.

Fu Linghe put the phone back into his pocket and turned to Cheng Yushen, regaining his stern demeanor. "Doctor Cheng, when can we have the next hypnosis session?"

Cheng Yushen took off his glasses and wiped the lenses with the corner of his white coat.

"Theoretically, the earliest it could be done is two days later." He put his glasses back on, his eyes scrutinizing Fu Linghe from behind the lenses. "But I don't recommend doing it too often. Your brain needs time to digest the fragments of memory brought back today."

Fu Linghe walked to the window. From the seventeenth floor, he could see the entire city.

Neon lights gradually light up in the twilight, and traffic flows on the streets like a glowing river.

He suddenly noticed his reflection in the glass. There was a faint scar at the corner of his forehead, which was left by the car accident that year.

"Those fragments of memory..." Fu Linghe's fingers unconsciously touched the scar, "Are they real?"

Cheng Yushen walked over to him, and the two stood side by side in front of the window. "The images evoked during hypnosis are usually projections of real memories, but the human brain is a strange thing, sometimes confusing dreams, imagination, and reality."

"I saw Yun Zheng lying weak in the hospital." Fu Linghe's voice was low. "I want to know what happened to her?"

Cheng Yushen nodded thoughtfully, "How do these images make you feel?"

"It hurts," Fu Linghe answered without hesitation, pressing his palm against the cold glass. "It feels like someone is hitting my temples with a blunt object."

The doctor was silent for a moment. "Memories are often tied to strong emotions. The more painful the memory, the deeper the brain hides it."

He paused. "Mr. Fu, are you sure you want to continue?"

Fu Linghe turned around, his eyes piercing, "That's why I have to know."

Cheng Yushen sighed, took out a business card from the drawer and handed it to him, "Come here to see me when you have time the day after tomorrow, and we will continue the second hypnosis session."

His voice suddenly grew serious. "If severe headaches, hallucinations, or memory loss occur during this period, treatment must be stopped immediately."

Fu Linghe took the business card and his fingertips touched the raised gold-plated font on the paper.

Walking out of the treatment room, the cold light in the corridor made Fu Linghe squint his eyes.
