Chapter 377 High-quality embryos are much stronger than imagined
Mojia’s private hospital was brightly lit, especially the obstetrics and gynecology department.
Their eldest daughter is pregnant, which is a great joyous event. They started to stand by as soon as they received the news!
Fu Linghe strode through the automatic door holding Yun Zheng, followed by the Mo family and their group.
His arm muscles were tense, but he carefully controlled the strength for fear of hurting her.
"Put me down, I can walk by myself." Yun Zheng said softly, her cheeks slightly hot due to everyone's gaze.
Fu Linghe looked down at her, his eyes dark as ink beneath his silver-gray hair. "I'll feel at ease only when I hold you."
Just a few short words, but with unquestionable determination.
The hospital director had already received the news and was waiting at the door in person.
Seeing Fu Linghe carrying someone in, he immediately stepped forward and said, "Mr. Fu, the director of obstetrics and gynecology and the ultrasound room are ready. We can perform the examination at any time."
Fu Linghe didn't say anything, just nodded slightly.
As the elevator went up, Yun Zheng could clearly feel the rise and fall of Fu Linghe's chest.
His heartbeat was much faster than usual, and the powerful vibrations could be heard through the thin fabric.
She raised her eyes quietly and found that his jawline was extremely tense and his Adam's apple rolled from time to time, as if he was trying hard to suppress his emotions.
"I'm fine," she whispered, her fingers unconsciously tugging at his collar.
Fu Linghe didn't answer, but just hugged her tighter.
In the ultrasound room, the female doctor was ready.
Fu Linghe carefully placed Yun Zheng on the examination bed, but stood aside and refused to leave, his eyes fixed on the doctor's every move.
"Mr. Fu, you can wait outside." The doctor said gently.
"I'm right here." His voice was low and firm.
Yun Zheng reached out and gently hooked her fingers around his. "Let him stay."
The doctor smiled knowingly and began to prepare for the examination.
When the cold coupling agent touched Yun Zheng's abdomen, she couldn't help but shudder.
Fu Linghe immediately leaned over, holding her hand with one hand and gently stroking her forehead with the other, and asked nervously, "What's wrong?"
"It's okay..." Yun Zheng shook her head, but frowned slightly the next second because of the pressure of the probe.
Fu Linghe's eyes immediately became sharp, and the look he gave the doctor was almost murderous.
The doctor quickly explained, "The coupling agent is a little cold, and slight discomfort is normal. Please rest assured, Mr. Fu."
A blurry image gradually appeared on the ultrasound screen.
The doctor adjusted the angle of the probe and stopped at one position.
"See? This is the gestational sac. Its current size is consistent with a five-week pregnancy. Both gestational sacs are developing well."
"Two...two?" Yun Zheng's voice suddenly rose, and her fingers clenched tightly as she checked the bed sheet.
She stared at the screen with wide eyes. There were indeed two small black areas, like two seeds closely attached to each other.
Fu Linghe's body suddenly froze.
His breathing stopped for a moment and became extremely rapid. "What do you mean?"
His voice was so hoarse that it was almost inaudible.
The doctor smiled and adjusted the screen angle. "It's twins, Mr. Fu. Two gestational sacs, meaning fraternal twins."
She pointed to two small black dots on the screen. "Look, both babies are developing very well."
Yun Zheng felt that the world suddenly became quiet, and the only sound in her ears was her own violent heartbeat.
She subconsciously reached out to touch the screen, but was grabbed by Fu Linghe halfway.
His palms were cold and trembling slightly.
"Fu Linghe..." She turned to look at him and found that his face was as pale as paper, and his long eyelashes were trembling violently, as if he would fall down at any time.
"I'm fine." He said hoarsely, but staggered back half a step and had to hold on to the wall to steady himself.
Seeing this, the doctor quickly said, "Mr. Fu, would you like to sit down? This is a very normal reaction. Many expectant fathers experience this when they first find out they are having twins."
Fu Linghe shook his head, took a deep breath and stood up straight again.
He let go of his hand that was holding the wall and instead gently held Yun Zheng's hand, with a gentle but firm grip.
"Are they really two...babies?" he asked the doctor, his voice trembling with disbelief.
"Yes, two healthy embryos." The doctor nodded affirmatively. "Everything appears to be normal at the moment, but twin pregnancies require more attention..."
Yun Zheng's nose suddenly felt sore and tears flowed uncontrollably.
Fu Linghe immediately leaned over and gently wiped away her tears with his thumb.
The doctor handed over a tissue at the right moment and said, "Come, let me listen to the fetal heartbeat."
When two weak but strong heartbeats came from the instrument, Fu Linghe's hands suddenly tightened.
The sound seemed to hit her heart directly. Yun Zheng felt her chest was sore and swollen, and she could hardly breathe.
"Is this... their heartbeat?" she asked in a low voice, afraid that the sound would be too loud and disturb them.
The doctor nodded. "Yes, it's still very weak, but it's perfectly healthy. Twins usually have a faster heartbeat than a single baby."
Fu Linghe suddenly bent down and gently rested his forehead on Yun Zheng's shoulder.
She could feel him taking deep breaths, his shoulders shaking slightly.
"Fu Linghe?" she called him worriedly.
He raised his head, and there was a light in his eyes that Yun Zheng had never seen before.
"Two," he whispered, as if to himself, "We have two babies."
Fu Linghe suddenly remembered something and looked at the doctor nervously, "Will having twins be more dangerous? My wife..."
The doctor gently explained, "It's true that the risk is slightly higher, but as long as you get enough rest, get enough nutrition, and have regular prenatal checkups, most twin pregnancies can go smoothly."
She looked at Fu Linghe, "Especially Mrs. Fu, she is in very good health. Her previous physical examination results were all excellent."
"So far, both babies are very healthy," the doctor said with a smile. "The fetal heart rate is also stable. However, to be on the safe side, I recommend a few more blood tests."
For the next half hour, Fu Linghe followed Yun Zheng closely, from blood tests to urine tests, and then to electrocardiograms.
Whenever someone approached, he would subconsciously stand in front of Yun Zheng, his eyes as vigilant as a wolf guarding its food.
"Fu Linghe," Yun Zheng pulled him back helplessly, "You can't even be a doctor if you're like this."
He then stepped back slightly, but his eyes never left the medical staff's hands, as if ready to intervene if anything unexpected happened.
After all the examinations were completed, the chief physician invited the two to his office.
Fu Linghe helped Yun Zheng sit down, but he stood behind her with his hands on her shoulders, like an impenetrable wall.
"The test results are all ideal," the doctor said, flipping through the report. "Progesterone levels are normal, HCG doubling is good, and embryonic development is consistent with gestational age. However..."
He pushed his glasses up and said, "There are some things I need to tell you about."
Fu Linghe immediately tensed up, "What precautions?"
The doctor cleared his throat. "First of all, sexual intercourse is strictly prohibited during the early stages of pregnancy. It can only be considered after at least three months, when the fetus is stable..."
Fu Linghe's face turned pale in an instant.
Yun Zheng felt the hand on her shoulder suddenly tighten, then immediately loosen, as if afraid of hurting her.
"Last night..." His voice was hoarse, "We had sex. Is the child okay?"
The doctor nodded understandingly. "The embryo is healthy now. High-quality embryos are stronger than you might think. But you must be careful from now on."
Yun Zheng's face flushed and she lowered her head, too embarrassed to look at anyone.
"Also," the doctor continued, "you should avoid alcohol and caffeine, and eat less stimulating foods..."
"I drank last night," Yun Zheng suddenly looked up, her eyes full of worry, "Will it affect the baby?"
The doctor smiled reassuringly. "Drinking a small amount of alcohol generally won't cause any problems, but you must avoid it in the future."
Fu Linghe had already taken out his cell phone, opened the memo, and recorded every word the doctor said.
His brows were furrowed, and his expression was focused as if he was dealing with some important business decision.
"Folic acid should be supplemented on time, avoid strenuous exercise, and keep a happy mood..." Every time the doctor said something, Fu Linghe quickly wrote it down, and even asked about the specific brand and dosage.
Yun Zheng secretly looked at him and found that fine beads of sweat had seeped out of his forehead. His silver-gray hair was slightly wet with sweat and stuck to his forehead.
She had seen Fu Linghe this nervous several times today.
There was a sudden knock on the door of the examination room, and Ning Zhi's voice came from outside, "Zheng Zheng, are you finished with the examination?"
Fu Linghe then woke up from a dream, put away his phone, bent down and helped Yun Zheng straighten her clothes with gentle movements.
"You can come in." He said in a deep voice.
As the door opened, everyone from the Mo family filed in. Ning Zhi was the first to rush forward and hold Yun Zheng's hand. "How is it? What did the doctor say?"
Fu Linghe's hand rested naturally on Yun Zheng's shoulder, and his voice was filled with unconcealed pride. "The babies are very healthy."
Mr. Mo leaned on his cane, his eyes narrowed into slits as he smiled. "Great, great! We're finally going to have a new addition to our family!"
Mo Chenfeng stood aside, smiling for once. "Do you want to rest in Country A for a few days before returning to the capital? The air here is good, perfect for nurturing your pregnancy."
Everyone's eyes turned to Yun Zheng.
She subconsciously looked at Fu Linghe, who gently squeezed her shoulders and said, "I'll listen to you."
"I... still want to go home a little." Yun Zheng said in a low voice.
Fu Linghe nodded, "Then go back."
No matter what she said, he would support her unconditionally.
She quietly placed her hand on her flat abdomen, trying to feel any changes there, but felt nothing.
Really... are there two little lives there?
It was already late at night when we left the hospital.
Fu Linghe insisted on carrying Yun Zheng into the car, even though she repeatedly said she could walk.
He carefully placed her in the back seat and bent down to fasten her seat belt himself, his movements incredibly gentle.
On the way home, Yun Zheng looked at the lights flying outside the window, with a lot of thoughts in her mind.
Her hands never left her abdomen, as if this could establish a connection with the two unformed little lives.
Fu Linghe looked at her in the rearview mirror, his eyes unusually soft.
While waiting for the red light, he reached out and covered her hand on her abdomen, "Are you cold?" His voice was so soft as if he was afraid of disturbing something.
Yun Zheng shook her head, her nose suddenly sore. "Fu Linghe...are we really going to be parents?"
His Adam's apple rolled, and his fingers intertwined with hers, "Yeah."
