Chapter 395 The Engagement Banquet is Coming Soon
Mo Chenfeng was silent for a moment, and finally sighed softly, holding Ning Zhi in his arms, "You're right, but this is my first time being a father to a daughter, and I've been absent from her for too long, so I can't help but worry."
Ning Zhi leaned on Mo Chenfeng's shoulder and said softly, "As long as our Zheng Zheng is happy, that's enough."
"Yeah." Mo Chenfeng held his wife's hand tightly, "Okay, it's getting late, don't think too much. If there is anything, we can talk about it tomorrow."
After saying that, he considerately helped Ning Zhi lie down, tucked the corners of the quilt for her, and then turned off the lights.
"It's time to go to bed early. I have to meet with my mother-in-law tomorrow to discuss the details of the engagement party. Let Shi An go look at a house. It's best if it's nearby and close to Zheng Zheng."
Ning Zhi rested her head on her husband's hand, her tone clearly tinged with sleepiness, but she still forced herself to finish her words.
"Okay, I'll do as you say. Go to sleep!" Mo Chenfeng patted Ning Zhi's back gently, listening to Ning Zhi's breathing gradually becoming even and long.
As the night deepened, the Tanxiyuan villa area fell into silence.
The moonlight outside the window shines through the gauze curtains and falls in front of the bed, giving the bedroom a soft silver glow.
He carefully pulled out the arm that Ning Zhi was resting on and got out of bed quietly.
Standing in front of the window, Mo Chenfeng looked at the sycamore tree in the courtyard outlined by the moonlight, with a lot of thoughts in his mind.
Their daughter Yun Zheng is about to get engaged, and as parents who missed most of her growing up, they can only make up for their debt to her in this way.
"I must buy the best house nearby." Mo Chenfeng muttered to himself, took out his mobile phone and sent a message to his assistant, asking him to check all the high-end properties for sale near Tanxiyuan early tomorrow morning.
Returning to the bed, he looked at his wife's sleeping face and gently tucked the quilt for her.
Ning Zhi unconsciously leaned towards him in her sleep, with a reassuring smile on her lips.
Mo Chenfeng's heart softened, and he leaned over and gave her a light kiss on the forehead before lying down again.
---
The early morning sunlight shines into the master bedroom through the half-open curtains, casting a golden glow on the room.
Fu Linghe maintained the same posture as the whole night. His arms had long been numb, but he still carefully held his sleeping wife in his arms.
Yun Zheng's eyelashes trembled slightly, like a butterfly flapping its wings, ready to fly, in the morning light.
Fu Linghe immediately held his breath, fearing that he would disturb her sweet dream.
His eyes lingered on her slightly flushed cheek, where there was a shallow dimple that only appeared faintly in her sleep.
The monitor on the bedside table emitted a soft green light, indicating that Yun Zheng's indicators were all within the normal range.
Fu Linghe breathed a sigh of relief, and then he felt the pain in his stiff shoulders.
He glanced at the wall clock. It was already 9:40 in the morning. Yun Zheng had slept longer than usual.
"Hmm..." Yun Zheng hummed softly in her dream, and unconsciously snuggled into Fu Linghe's arms, rubbing her cheek against his chest like a lazy cat.
Fu Linghe couldn't help but curl the corners of his mouth, and gently combed her long hair scattered on the pillow with his fingers.
Suddenly, Yun Zheng frowned slightly, her eyelids trembled slightly, and she slowly opened her eyes.
"Awake?" Fu Linghe's voice was a little hoarse from not sleeping all night, but so gentle that water could drip out of it.
Yun Zheng blinked, adjusting to the light in the room, and asked drowsily, "What time is it?"
Fu Linghe glanced at the clock. "It's almost ten o'clock."
"Ten o'clock?!" Yun Zheng suddenly jumped up from the bed, then let out a soft cry because of the big movement, and held her waist.
Fu Linghe immediately sat up nervously, holding her back with one hand and gently covering her slightly bulging belly with the other. "Slow down, don't be anxious. Is there anything uncomfortable?"
Yun Zheng shook her head and anxiously pushed his shoulder, "Why didn't you call me? Mom and Dad must be waiting anxiously!"
Fu Linghe laughed and pinched her nose. "You looked so sound asleep, I couldn't bear to wake you up. You tossed and turned until three in the morning before you fell asleep. It would be good for the baby if you could get some more rest."
"But..." Yun Zheng wanted to say something, but was stopped by Fu Linghe's light kiss.
"No buts," he said, his voice low and gentle, resting his hand against her forehead. "My mom sent me a message early this morning saying they'd arrived and were having a great time chatting with your parents, so we didn't need to worry."
Yun Zheng finally relaxed a little, but she couldn't help but punch his chest lightly. "You can't sleep so late, it's so rude."
Fu Linghe smiled and took her hand, placing it on his lips and kissing it, "My Zheng Zheng is always perfect."
As he spoke, he threw back the quilt and got out of bed. He bent down and placed his slippers at Yun Zheng's feet. "Come, shall I carry you to wash up?"
Yun Zheng blushed and shook her head, "I can walk by myself."
She slowly stood up holding the edge of the bed, but she swayed because of her unstable center of gravity during pregnancy.
Fu Linghe quickly picked her up and carried her sideways. Yun Zheng screamed and subconsciously hugged his neck.
"Fu Linghe! Put me down!" She protested softly, her cheeks flushed with embarrassment.
Fu Linghe turned a deaf ear and strode towards the bathroom with a smug smile on his face. "My dear wife, please allow me to serve you."
In the bathroom, Fu Linghe had already prepared everything. Yun Zheng had squeezed maternity toothpaste onto her toothbrush, and her favorite rose cleanser was placed on the washstand.
Even the towel was folded into her usual style and hung in the most convenient place.
"When did you prepare all this?" Yun Zheng looked at all this in surprise.
Fu Linghe put his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. "I prepare it every morning, but today you finally noticed."
Yun Zheng's heart warmed. She turned around and kissed him on the cheek. "Thank you, husband."
Fu Linghe's eyes darkened, and he held the back of her head and deepened the kiss until Yun Zheng gently pushed him away and reluctantly let go.
"Stop it," Yun Zheng said, blushing, "the elders are still waiting."
Fu Linghe smiled and stepped back, making a "please" gesture. "Yes, ma'am."
——
In the living room downstairs, the two families were chatting animatedly.
Chen Lanshu was wearing an elegant champagne-colored cheongsam and was holding Ning Zhi's hand, recounting the details of the engagement party.
"We've prepared the invitations. We're just waiting for you to confirm the guest list for the Mo family. You can add it anytime."
Shen Lanshu smiled gently, the fine lines at the corners of her eyes revealing the elegance of time. "I specially asked a nutritionist to adjust the menu to ensure that every dish is suitable for Zheng Zheng's current physical condition."
Ning Zhi nodded touchedly. "Mother-in-law is so thoughtful. Chen Feng and I were talking last night about buying Zheng Zheng a house nearby so that we can take care of her and the babies in the future."
Upon hearing this, Fu Yanze put down his teacup and smiled, "That's a good idea. Phase 3 of Tanxiyuan has just opened, and the environment is similar to this place, and it's only a ten-minute walk. Do you want me to have my assistant contact the developer to reserve a good unit?"
Mo Chenfeng nodded slightly, "Then I'll trouble you, my in-laws. It would be best if it had a bigger garden, Zhengzheng likes plants."
"No problem," Fu Yanze agreed readily, "I'll get someone in touch right away..."
As he was speaking, footsteps were heard on the stairs.
Everyone turned around and saw Fu Linghe carefully helping Yun Zheng down the stairs. Yun Zheng was wearing a loose light blue dress that made her skin look as white as snow, and the curve of her belly was quite obvious.
"Zheng Zheng!" Ning Zhi and Shen Lanshu stood up at the same time and walked quickly to greet her.
"Why don't you sleep a little longer?" Ning Zhi held her daughter's hand with concern.
Chen Lanshu directly supported Yun Zheng's other side and said, "Are you hungry? I asked the kitchen to stew some bird's nest and keep it warm."
Yun Zheng was surrounded by the two mothers and smiled a little embarrassedly, "Mom, Grandma, I'm fine. I overslept and kept you waiting for a long time."
Fu Linghe stood aside, watching his wife being pampered, his eyes full of tenderness.
Mo Chenfeng noticed his son-in-law's expression, and the last trace of doubt in his heart disappeared.
"Come, sit down first." Chen Lanshu helped Yun Zheng walk towards the sofa, and Ning Zhi immediately took a cushion and placed it behind her waist.
Fu Linghe walked quickly to the kitchen, "I'll go get breakfast for Zhengzheng."
Mo Chenfeng looked at his son-in-law's hurried back, then turned to Fu Yanze and said, "Ling He is really good to Zheng Zheng."
Fu Yanze smiled proudly: "This kid has always been cold and aloof since he was young, but I didn't expect him to become a completely different person after meeting Zheng Zheng."
After a while, Fu Linghe came back with a tray on which was placed a bowl of bird's nest porridge, some exquisite side dishes and a cup of warm milk.
He sat down next to Yun Zheng and naturally picked up the spoon to feed her.
Yun Zheng blushed and protested softly, "I can do it myself..."
Fu Linghe ignored her and scooped a spoonful of porridge, cooled it, and put it to her mouth. "Be good, open your mouth."
Under the smiling gaze of the elders, Yun Zheng had no choice but to accept the feeding obediently.
The bird's nest porridge was sweet, soft and glutinous, at just the right temperature, and clearly carefully prepared.
"Oh, right," Shen Lanshu suddenly remembered something and took out an exquisite gift box from her bag. "This is a gift for Zheng Zheng."
Yun Zheng took it curiously, opened it and saw a simple diamond bracelet inside.
"I saw this at the mall a few days ago and bought it because I thought it suited you." Shen Lanshu explained gently, "I've been busy these past two days and forgot to give it to you."
Yun Zheng looked at the bracelet and was very touched. She accepted it without any hesitation and said, "Thank you, Mom."
Fu Linghe took the bracelet and gently put it on Yun Zheng. "Damn, you have good taste."
Ning Zhi's eyes were slightly moist as she watched, and Mo Chenfeng quietly held his wife's hand.
"Speaking of children," Fu Yanze smiled and changed the subject, "We've already contacted the best obstetrics team and confinement center in Beijing. Zheng Zheng can give birth anywhere she wants."
"We also have a team of nannies," Shen Lanshu added. "They are all carefully screened and have experience caring for twins."
Yun Zheng was so moved that she didn't know what to say and could only hold Fu Linghe's hand tightly.
Fu Linghe understood and thanked her parents on her behalf: "Thank you, Mom and Dad. Zhengzheng has been very emotional lately, and she's very happy that you're thinking of her so much."
Ning Zhi wiped her eyes and said, "Our Zheng Zheng is so lucky to have a family like yours."
"It's Ling He's blessing," Shen Lanshu said sincerely, "It's a blessing he's earned over several lifetimes that a girl as good as Zheng Zheng falls in love with our boy."
The two families smiled at each other, and the living room was filled with a warm and harmonious atmosphere.
