Chapter 404: Proposal at Sea
Yun Zheng played on the beach for a while and picked up a few shells of special shapes. Suddenly, she felt tired.
She gently tugged at the corner of Fu Linghe's clothes, but before she could speak, he had already keenly noticed her condition.
"Are you tired?" Fu Linghe immediately put down the camera in his hand and supported her shoulders.
Yun Zheng nodded, her eyes narrowing slightly because of the bright light. "I feel a little dizzy."
Without saying a word, Fu Linghe bent down and picked her up steadily, while picking up the picnic basket with his other hand.
"Close your eyes and rest for a while," he whispered. "We'll be right back."
After returning to the villa, Fu Linghe gently placed Yun Zheng on the recliner in the bedroom, turned around and went to the bathroom to wring out a warm towel.
He knelt on one knee in front of Yun Zheng and gently wiped the sand off her face, then her hands and ankles.
"Would you like something to eat?" he asked, combing his fingers through her hair that was tousled by the sea breeze.
Yun Zheng shook her head. "I just want to sleep for a while."
Fu Linghe immediately adjusted the indoor lighting, pulled up the blackout curtains but left a gap for ventilation.
He took out a silk nightgown from the closet and helped Yun Zheng change into it, and also placed a pillow for pregnant women behind her waist.
"Go to sleep~" He leaned over and placed a kiss on her forehead, "I'm right here."
Yun Zheng felt Fu Linghe's hand gently covering her lower abdomen in a daze, which made her feel warm and reassured.
She soon fell asleep, and in her dream she seemed to hear the sound of waves gently lapping against the side of the boat.
When Yun Zheng woke up again, the bedroom was already dark.
She rubbed her eyes and found Fu Linghe sitting at the workbench beside the bed, processing documents. He had turned the desk lamp to the dimmest setting, and the light from the computer screen reflected on his well-defined profile.
"What time is it?" Yun Zheng's voice was still sleepy.
Fu Linghe immediately closed his computer and walked over. "It's almost seven o'clock, and the sun has just set."
He turned on the bedside lamp, adjusting it to a soft, warm glow. "Did you sleep well?"
Yun Zheng stretched and felt much better. "Yeah, I had a beautiful dream."
Fu Linghe smiled mysteriously and took out an exquisite gift box from the closet. "Put this on and I'll take you somewhere."
Yun Zheng opened the box curiously, and inside was a sea-blue silk long skirt with tiny star and moon patterns embroidered on the hem, which glowed softly under the light.
She looked up in surprise, "This is..."
"It was flown in from Country F last week," Fu Linghe helped her take out the skirt. "The designer specially adjusted the waistline according to your size."
Yun Zheng stroked the soft fabric and found that the abdomen was indeed specially treated so that it would not be constricted while maintaining the beautiful shape of the skirt.
What’s more thoughtful is that it comes with a loose tulle jacket that can be worn at any time to keep warm.
"Where are we going?" Yun Zheng asked while changing clothes.
Fu Linghe just smiled without answering, helped her zip up her back, and squatted down to put on a pair of non-slip soft-soled shoes for her.
"Secret." He finally smoothed her hair, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.
After changing clothes, Fu Linghe took out a silk scarf and covered Yun Zheng's eyes.
"Trust me." He whispered in her ear, his warm breath brushing her earlobe. "I won't let you down."
Yun Zheng felt Fu Linghe carefully guiding her out of the villa, and the cool evening breeze with the scent of the sea blew towards her face.
They appeared to walk along the boardwalk for a while, then stopped.
"You can look now." Fu Linghe untied the scarf.
Yun Zheng blinked to adjust to the light, then took a breath.
In front of me was a pure white medium-sized cruise ship with the name "Star Whisperer" written in elegant blue fonts on the hull.
The entire deck was covered with white roses and baby's breath, looking like a floating garden in the night.
"This is..." Yun Zheng was so surprised that she was speechless.
Fu Linghe took her hand and said, "Mrs. Fu's private cruise ship just completed the final renovation last month."
He pointed over the side. "Look there."
Yun Zheng followed his finger and found a line of small words engraved on the side of the ship: "For My Star——YZ"
"You like stargazing," Fu Linghe explained softly, "This ship is equipped with a professional astronomical observatory. We can go out to sea and watch the stars anytime in the future."
Yun Zheng's eyes instantly became moist. She turned around and threw herself into Fu Linghe's arms, smelling the familiar cedar scent on him.
"It's too luxurious..." she said in a low voice.
Fu Linghe smiled and stroked her back. "For you, I will never be extravagant."
He carefully helped Yun Zheng up the gangway, making sure she walked steadily with every step.
The crew on board lined up neatly to welcome them, but kept a proper distance, showing respect while giving them enough private space.
The cruise ship slowly left the port. Yun Zheng stood by the deck railing, watching the lights on the shore gradually fade away.
Fu Linghe hugged her from behind, resting his chin lightly on her shoulder. "Are you cold?"
Yun Zheng shook her head, but Fu Linghe had already taken out a cashmere shawl and wrapped it around her shoulders.
"The doctor said pregnant women are prone to catching colds," he explained, handing her a steaming drink. "Specially made red date and ginger tea. It's good for morning sickness."
The night at sea is exceptionally quiet, with only the gentle sound of the cruise ship breaking through the waves.
The sky gradually darkened, and the stars lit up one by one, soon covering the entire sky.
"Come," Fu Linghe took Yun Zheng's hand, "I'll show you a place."
He brought Yun Zheng to the observation deck on the top floor of the cruise ship, where there was a professional astronomical telescope, surrounded by a comfortable circular sofa and several cushions.
Fu Linghe adjusted the angle of the telescope and motioned Yun Zheng to look.
"This is..." Yun Zheng moved closer to the eyepiece and saw an exceptionally bright star cluster.
"The Andromeda Galaxy." Fu Linghe stood behind her, holding her waist with both hands to maintain balance. "It's also the main star in the night sky on your birthday."
Yun Zheng turned to look at him in surprise, "How did you know..."
Fu Linghe smiled and said, "I checked the astronomical almanac."
He pointed in another direction. "That's Lyra over there, and in another hour you'll see Vega rising."
As he spoke, he suddenly knelt on one knee and took out a small velvet box from his pocket.
Yun Zheng's heartbeat instantly accelerated. Although they were already married, this posture still made her hold her breath.
Fu Linghe opened the box, revealing an exquisite star-shaped pendant with a rare blue diamond in the center.
"The first time I proposed was on land," he looked up at Yun Zheng, his eyes filled with stars, "this time it's at sea..."
Yun Zheng's tears finally fell. She stretched out her hand and let Fu Linghe put the necklace on her, then threw herself into his arms.
The pendant rested against her collarbone, and its slightly cool temperature was quickly warmed by her body temperature.
"Are you hungry?" Fu Linghe wiped the tears from her eyes. "I prepared dinner."
A dining table had been set up in a corner of the observation deck at some point, and the silver cutlery sparkled under the starlight.
Fu Linghe pulled out a chair for Yun Zheng and signaled the waiter to serve the food.
Each dish is small and exquisite, just enough to satisfy Yun Zheng's appetite without making her feel full.
"Try this," Fu Linghe cut a small piece of cod and fed it to her mouth, "The chef used the lemon sauce you like."
Yun Zheng opened her mouth and took it. The tender fish meat melted in her mouth.
She noticed that Fu Linghe's own plate contained simple steak and pasta, which was far less refined than hers.
"You eat too." She picked up a piece of cake and handed it to him.
Fu Linghe took a bite of her hand, and a little cream got on the corner of his mouth.
Yun Zheng reached out to wipe it off for him, but he grabbed her wrist and gently kissed her fingertips.
After dinner, Fu Linghe turned on the stereo and soft piano music flowed out.
He bent down and extended his hand to her in a gentlemanly manner, "Would you like to dance with me, Mrs. Fu?"
Yun Zheng smiled and placed her hand in his palm.
Fu Linghe carefully put his arm around her waist, keeping a proper distance so as not to press on her abdomen, and interlocked his fingers with hers with his other hand.
They swayed slowly to the music, without any complicated dance steps, just snuggling and feeling each other's breathing and heartbeat.
"Look," Fu Linghe suddenly pointed to the sky, "a shooting star."
Yun Zheng looked up and saw a streak of silver light streaking across the night sky. She immediately closed her eyes and made a wish. When she opened them again, she found Fu Linghe gazing at her lovingly.
"Don't say it," he whispered. "It won't work if you say it."
Yun Zheng stood on tiptoe and placed a kiss on his lips. "This wish has come true."
Fu Linghe tightened his arms and deepened the kiss.
The sea breeze blew gently, and the cruise ship swayed slightly, as if the whole world was left with only the two of them and the starry sky.
