Chapter 108 The Strange Door

The environment here was dim and quiet, and Cheng Huaijin didn't even feel the passage of time.

She took a deep breath, trying to pull herself out of her current surroundings. Thinking back, something had been off ever since she entered the Misty Forest.

The first checkpoint is at Xinruan Teng.

The Softhearted Vine is difficult to deal with, and the location is remote. Why did Flying Wolf go so far and lead the way there?

And aside from the initial crowd, they didn't see anyone else. It wasn't until they finished checking in that they saw anyone else appear. It was as if some kind of barrier had been broken after they finished checking in…

The first checkpoint's supply package contained a map of all the checkpoints for the competition, and Cheng Huaijin and Yunfei followed the map.

So if the map is carefully designed, they will be completely unaware and follow the planned route.

The riot by the four-horned cattle herd was also strange, as it directly changed Cheng Huaijin's course of action.

Following the scent, the little armored tiger stumbled upon the Thunderheart Grass. The Thunder Sprite was at a crucial moment in its evolution, and Cheng Huaijin couldn't possibly resist its allure.

All of this was both a coincidence and a logical conclusion.

Cheng Huaijin's cerebral cortex was very active, and her fingers trembled slightly involuntarily.

Then go and think about it.

The elements are intertwined, preventing pets from maintaining their normal state. But the little armored tiger isn't bound by elements, so why can't it be summoned?

There are only two answers: either Cheng Huaijin is in an illusion, or something of a higher level is suppressing Cheng Huaijin's ability to summon pets.

If it's the former, then why can dragon eggs be summoned? Or is the environment specifically designed for dragon eggs, so only dragon eggs can be summoned?

If that's the case, why not just steal the dragon egg when it appears?

If the answer is the latter, then Cheng Huaijin's ability to summon the dragon egg means that the thing controlling this place is equal to or weaker than the dragon egg.

Dragons are legendary mythical beasts. Even though the dragon egg didn't hatch, it's still considered a super-level pet, right?

So, is this place controlled by a super-level pet or a beast tamer?

What's their purpose? To steal the dragon eggs? That doesn't make sense. Then why haven't they appeared yet?

Cheng Huaijin tucked a stray strand of hair behind her ear and murmured, "There's nothing here."

"Since we have nothing else, and all we have are dragon eggs to use..."

Cheng Huaijin muttered to himself as a dragon egg, as big as his face, appeared in his hand.

"Then let's try smashing it. Maybe the dragon egg is..." She raised the dragon egg and gently tapped it against the mark on the wall. Before she finished speaking, ripples spread across the stone wall like water.

"The key." The stone wall in front of them disappeared, revealing a huge stone chamber behind it.

Cheng Huaijin was so speechless that he laughed.

...So all that running around before was for nothing?

OK!

She tried to retract the dragon egg back to the wrist mark, but she couldn't.

Alright, now I have to run away with an egg as big as my face.

Cheng Huaijin pulled a supply pack from his pocket, stuffed the remaining food inside into his mouth, and cleared the bag to put the dragon eggs. Great, if danger comes, I can cosplay with a meteor hammer and just swing it over to smash that thing to death.

This is a very large space, somewhat like a temple, with a door at the very front.

Regardless of Cheng Huaijin's perspective, it seemed to imply that she should go and open the door.

...But what can I do? It feels so dangerous, I don't want to open it!

"Found it! Run! It's right here!"

"They're coming after us!"

"ah!!!"

Two blood-covered people rushed to the door. Just as they were about to touch it, one body was torn to pieces, and the other body quickly turned into jerky.

Cheng Huaijin was frozen in place.

A few seconds later, another person rushed over and was killed in front of the door.

Cheng Huaijin took two steps back, staring in shock at the absurd scene before him.

People kept coming to their deaths, all dying in front of the door, their bodies piled up together. But the next wave of people seemed not to see the bodies and continued to die.

No one saw Cheng Huaijin either.

Cheng Huaijin was like a spectator, watching the tragedy unfold before his eyes.

This is a closed space; there is nowhere to go except through that door.

After the ninety-ninth person died, the long-sealed stone gate slowly opened.

In the flickering torchlight, Cheng Huaijin saw a stone platform.

She involuntarily took a few steps forward, wanting to see clearly what was placed on it.

The dragon egg suddenly flew towards the stone platform, and the bag that was binding Cheng Huaijin's hand snapped off. Cheng Huaijin couldn't stop it at all.

The dragon egg flew over and landed steadily in the middle of the stone platform, emitting a faint light.

The dragon egg is calling Cheng Huaijin to come back.

"If I die, you will die too. We've already made a pact," Cheng Huaijin said calmly.

The dragon egg was calling her back.

Feeling the contractual connection with the dragon egg once again, Cheng Huaijin decided to go over.

As Cheng Huaijin entered the room, his foot accidentally touched the warm corpse.

Warm, just died.

Cheng Huaijin was shocked, but he suppressed his fear and nausea and walked step by step toward the dragon egg.

She couldn't help but look at a severed arm, on the right side of which was a tattoo.

The pattern is a cross.

Could it be that the killers were the ones who died?
