Cheng Huaijin opened his eyes and saw a flash of fire.
The aroma of food wafted over, and she felt hungry.
"You're awake, time to eat." Seeing her sit up, Yunfei scooped a bowl of whitish soup from the pot and brought it to her.
Cheng Huaijin didn't bother with pleasantries, took the bowl and took a sip.
It smells so good!
Having finally calmed down, Cheng Huaijin spoke up: "Yunfei, what are you doing here? Did you save me?"
Yunfei squatted down and examined Cheng Huaijin for a long time. Seeing that the man was really alright, he walked back to the fire and added a few more pieces of firewood.
“You were asleep by the roadside,” Yunfei said reproachfully. “It was dangerous.”
When Yunfei's expression turned serious, he really did resemble an older brother. Cheng Huaijin fell asleep instantly because he was too tired and had let his guard down, thinking the rescuers had arrived. However, Yunfei was unaware of the whole story. Cheng Huaijin thought for a moment, finished his soup, and then took the bowl and went over to Yunfei.
"Oh, well, you have no idea how unlucky I was. I was trying to get to that photo spot..."
After spouting a lot of nonsense, he successfully fooled the naive Yunfei.
Yunfei looked at him with sympathy: "How pitiful."
Cheng Huaijin looked heartbroken: "Right! Why am I so unlucky? I've wasted the last few days. Sigh! What's your check-in progress?"
Yunfei was grilling meat. He used a knife to cut off a piece of the cooked meat, placed it on a small plate, and handed it to Cheng Huaijin: "65%."
"It's so high!" Cheng Huaijin exclaimed in surprise. "How many days is it now?"
"Five," Yunfei replied.
It's over... Is it even possible to catch up...?
Cheng Huaijin ate his barbecue in silence. The fifth day was almost over, and he had actually spent nearly four days in the secret room!
Seeing Cheng Huaijin munching on barbecue with a look of utter despair, Yunfei thought for a moment and comforted him, "Don't worry, there's still time."
Cheng Huaijin sighed: "My original goal was to get first place."
Yunfei remained silent: "Difficult."
After resting, Cheng Huaijin focused his consciousness on the wrist marker to check on the condition of his pets.
Both Jolteon and Antimage are fine, with no changes. Jolteon seems to have absorbed energy from the secret chamber and is currently asleep, but the data shows no abnormalities, so it should be a good thing rather than a bad thing.
The dragon egg changed a lot.
Pet: Dragon (Attribute unknown)
Status: Incubation period
Age: 0 years old
Level: 30/?
Skills: Energy Absorption, Energy Conversion
Incubation period! ! !
Level is directly inherited!!!
Cheng Huaijin stood up in surprise and met Yun Fei's concerned gaze.
After a couple of awkward laughs, Cheng Huaijin waved his hand and said, "It's nothing, it's nothing, haha, I'm just digesting my food."
I just don't know how long this incubation period will last.
I remember Zhao Yu saying before that dragon eggs need dragon blood to hatch. Now that we have dragon blood, the herb crystals should be useful too. I'll use the herb crystals when we get back!
After all the hardships, the good times are finally over! I, Cheng Huaijin, have finally made it through!
Cheng Huaijin almost burst out laughing, hands on his hips! Not getting a ranking in the Misty Cup was a small matter; compared to Long, everything was a mere junior!
However... the hatching of the dragon egg is already a done deal, so since we're here in the Mist Cup, we should try our best to get a good ranking.
Cheng Huaijin asked Yunfei with great interest, "Good brother, is the camera that's following you still there?"
Yunfei tilted his head in confusion: "I guess so? Why?"
Cheng Huaijin discussed with him: "Besides the check-in task points, did you know that there are also bonus points for the Misty Cup?"
Yunfei nodded and then shook his head: "I know. There's no need."
Cheng Huaijin's so-called bonus points were actually combat performance.
The Misty Forest is home to many strange and unusual pets, and it's quite normal for contestants to encounter a few wild ones while searching for checkpoints. The accompanying camera will track and record the battles between the contestants and these wild pets, and the AI will score the interactions; these scores will be factored into the final competition results.
Of course, if anyone objects to the bonus points for the battle, they can raise their concerns, and the video recording of that bonus point will be released as evidence for the review committee to re-evaluate.
That's exactly what Cheng Huaijin was aiming for.
Yunfei's claim that it's unnecessary is true for players who honestly check in regularly; for them, this extra point is indeed unnecessary.
First, no one knows the scoring criteria of the AI. Second, if your score is questioned and the recording is made public, you will receive a low score 90% of the time.
It would be better to save that time and use it to check in.
Cheng Huaijin had his own twisted logic: "I don't know where my camera went. Tomorrow I'll follow you, you can use your camera, and if I see any wild animals, I'll go and fight them. Your camera can just film it for me."
Yunfei asked doubtfully, "Will this work?"
Cheng Huaijin patted his shoulder: "What's wrong with that! My camera has just been lost, it's not gone. As long as your camera captures me and uploads the recording to the system, I think my camera will come looking for me."
She winked playfully: "High-tech, huh?"
Yunfei was fooled by her again: "Whatever you want." He snapped his fingers, and a silver drone appeared in the air.
Cheng Huaijin walked over: "So this is your tracking camera..."
A blade of wind pierced through the air, heading straight for the camera.
Cheng Huaijin's hand trembled subconsciously, but he found that no wooden staff had appeared.
She paused for a moment, then grabbed the camera stand, turned to the left, and a gust of wind sliced through her right shoulder, blood seeping from her black clothes.
"Ice Armor!" Yun Fei roared, and the Frost Wolf appeared in front of Cheng Huaijin. A silver-white barrier rose up in front of him, just enough to block the wind blades that followed.
