A beast tamer's physical attributes are closely related to their pet. Because the Emerald Leaf Lime underwent a super-evolution into a dragon-attribute pet, Cheng Huaijin's physical attributes improved by more than one level.
So after resting for a day, Cheng Huaijin immediately jumped up on the spot, ate well, and was in great health.
Cheng Huaijin went home with Aunt Fu first, wanting to thank Grandma Wu in person.
Although the tears were given by Teng Yunhe, he wouldn't have done it if Grandma Wu hadn't allowed it.
"Knock knock knock." Cheng Huaijin felt a little nervous. Although Grandma Wu was very beautiful and had a great temperament, she always gave people a cold and unapproachable feeling.
Cheng Huaijin never had a private conversation with her.
I only stayed for a few days, but I caused them a lot of trouble...
The door opened automatically, and a beautiful woman sat there, gracefully picking up a celadon teacup and slowly taking a sip.
The air was thick with steam, and despite the short distance between them, Cheng Huaijin couldn't make out Grandma Wu's face.
She involuntarily took a step forward, swallowed hard, and said nervously, "Hello, Grandma Wu, I am Cheng Huaijin."
"Hmm." Wu Yutao put down her teacup and looked at her calmly. Her dark pupils rippled with the vicissitudes of time, like a deep, unfathomable spring, which made Cheng Huaijin shiver.
“Come in,” she said.
Cheng Huaijin walked in with his head bowed and eyes downcast. The door opened automatically without any wind, locking the old man and the young man inside.
"Grandma Wu, thank you so much for taking me in." Cheng Huaijin had been rehearsing her words for a while, but since Wu Yutao's attitude was quite kind, she decided to say it all at once.
Wu Yutao slightly raised her chin toward the chair next to her: "Sit down and have some tea first."
It was already autumn, and the weather was slightly cool. Cheng Huaijin held the teacup and carefully took a sip.
It was slightly bitter at first, but then turned sweet after a moment. She tasted it, and the rich aroma in her mouth made her feel relaxed.
Her tense muscles relaxed, and she let out a comfortable sigh.
Wu Yutao then asked, "How's your dragon egg?"
Cheng Huaijin put down his teacup, suppressing his excitement, and summoned the dragon egg with a beaming smile: "Look, it's very healthy."
Wu Yutao looked at the white dragon egg that Cheng Huaijin was holding in his hands, her eyes filled with nostalgia.
Cheng Huaijin stretched out his hands, looking at Wu Yutao with hopeful eyes.
Wu Yutao showed no intention of taking it. She looked at the dragon egg and said, "A dragon? I've seen dragons before."
That's a story from a very, very long time ago.
When Wu Yutao was still Miss Wu, not Grandma Wu, she had seen a dragon.
A dragon that blots out the sky and summons wind and rain.
The little girl stared at the sky in disbelief. The scientific knowledge she had received since childhood had completely collapsed. No pet book had ever told her that such powerful pets existed in the world.
Dragon, this pet's name is Dragon.
Pets are called pets because they exist as appendages to beast tamers. The word "pet" itself reveals the concept of cage and imprisonment. No matter how harmonious the relationship between a beast tamer and their pet may be, it is ultimately nothing more than a master-servant relationship.
Wu Yutao considers herself a kind beast tamer, but the education she received from childhood taught her how to use, tame, and raise pets.
No matter how powerful the pet beast is, she will not be afraid. Because her innate race dictates that she will always be the master, and the pet beast will always be the servant.
A beast tamer killed by their pet only proves their weakness and inability to conquer a powerful beast. And powerful beasts won't remain powerful forever; there will always be an even stronger beast tamer to capture them.
That's just how things are in this world.
But this dragon is different; it is unique.
Wu Yutao couldn't imagine anyone being able to conquer it. It seemed to be something that no one could control from the start; it was a god.
“Dragon, this is the Eastern Dragon. Remember her name, Yu Tao.” Wu Yu Tao heard the adults beside her speaking.
"Dongfang Long?" Wu Yutao asked in confusion.
"Yes, the Eastern dragon, born from the mysterious power of the East, is the last Eastern dragon to remain in the world." The adult's tone was inevitably regretful.
"What's her name?" Wu Yutao asked, tugging at the adult's sleeve.
"Thunder Dragon." The adult's voice drifted through the air, and a bolt of purple thunder suddenly roared in the sky, the booming sound almost deafening Wu Yutao.
A giant dragon, entangled in lightning, hurtles towards a point in the sky.
“Where is she going?!” Wu Yutao shouted at the top of her lungs.
The adult knelt down and hugged her tightly, burying his face in her neck, his tears soaking her clothes: "She is a hero, you must remember her. She gave up her own life to save us!"
Wu Yutao didn't quite understand what this meant, but as the adults around her began to cry one after another, a sense of sadness spread, and she couldn't help but burst into tears as well.
She was young then, and she didn't know what sacrifice meant.
When the purple lightning disappeared and the sky returned to its blue and white state, people gathered in groups in front of a dilapidated temple.
A woman dressed in purple stood guard in front of the temple. Her eyes were entirely purple, with faint flashes of lightning within them, and her skin appeared to have scale-like patterns; she was by no means beautiful. In particular, two small horns protruded from her smooth forehead, and her long hair remained perfectly still in the wind. Wu Yutao trembled at the sight and immediately hid behind the adults.
She heard the adults call women "Dragon Girl".
