Chapter 29 Curse

Shadowless Beast. A psychic/dark-type pet beast with a vicious personality. It has no physical form but can freely transform into various shapes and inherit certain skills from its target. It is an extremely rare, precious, and powerful pet beast. Danger level: four stars.

Cheng Huaijin still remembered the first time he met the Shadowless Beast Fang Wuhen, how he was completely outmaneuvered by this cunning pet. At that time, it was Emerald Leaf Lime Bobo who jumped out to protect Cheng Huaijin, so Fang Wuhen and Bobo must have had a good relationship.

“BoBo has undergone a super evolution,” Cheng Huaijin said to Fang Wu.

Fang Wu smiled, and a black hand silently appeared on Cheng Huaijin's shoulder. The curve of his lips widened, and he and Cheng Huaijin vanished from the spot in an instant.

Cheng Huaijin's body felt as if it had been run over by a truck. The intense pain and suffocation made her want to vomit. Fortunately, the "torture" she had suffered before had significantly improved her endurance. After landing, she only dry-heaved a few times.

Fang Wu showed his entire body, sitting on the sofa and smiling as he looked at Cheng Huaijin's disheveled appearance.

"Where is this?" Cheng Huaijin asked after a moment's pause.

Fang Wu replied, "My office."

Oh right, Fang Wuhen was some kind of team leader.

Cheng Huaijin nodded and summoned the dragon egg: "This is the pet egg formed after Bobo's super evolution. The pet center has confirmed it's a dragon egg, and it's already registered."

Fang Wu stared intently at the flawless white dragon egg, his smile gradually fading. He then said to Cheng Huaijin with a blank expression, "Tell me everything about Bobo, down to the smallest detail."

He emphasized: "Everything!"

The moment Fang Wu stared at her, Cheng Huaijin's hair stood on end. She became secretly wary and began to recount what had happened after Bobo left her, only omitting Teng Yunhe's tears.

"You said you don't know how you melted Bobo's fragments?" Fang Wu asked suspiciously.

"I fainted in the garden, and then I felt something drilling into my body. I was in so much pain that I passed out, and I was taken to the hospital," Cheng Huaijin said.

"What's your relationship with Wu Yutao?" Fang Wu asked.

Cheng Huaijin scratched his head: "Her son adopted me, so she's kind of my grandma."

Fang Wu was speechless: "You're already 13, how can you still be adopted?"

Cheng Huaijin: "I think so. My household registration is now at his house."

Fang Wu then asked, "Then why don't you change your surname?"

Cheng Huaijin: "...Maybe they don't think it's important?"

The man and the beast looked at each other in silence.

"So, can you help me? Can you help me conceal the dragon egg's aura? Grandma Wu said you can," Cheng Huaijin said expectantly.

Fang Wu pursed his lips, placed his hand on the dragon egg, closed his eyes, and felt it for a moment.

His expression twisted for a moment, and he jerked his hand away as if he had been burned.

With a howl, Fang Wuhen transformed into a black bat-shaped pet, its round eyes staring in terror at the dragon egg, its tiny claws gripping Cheng Huaijin's clothes tightly.

"What...what is this?!"

The Shadowless Beast's teeth chattered: "Thump thump thump thump release release release dragon???"

Cheng Huaijin's body stiffened, feeling that the Shadowless Beast's claws were too sharp and too close to her neck: "Yes. So I need your help."

"Damn Wu Yutao!!!" the Shadowless Beast roared, "I can't! Waaah! Damn it! I! Waaah!"

Cheng Huaijin looked bewildered: "Is it that difficult? Should I go ask Grandma Wu again?"

The Shadowless Beast began to sob, "How could a mortal like you understand?! Damn it! Wu Yutao! The Wu family! I owe you all! Waaah! Dragon! Sigh! Why did it have to be a dragon!"

Seeing the Shadowless Beast's agitated state, Cheng Huaijin dared not ask any further questions and could only silently let the Shadowless Beast use him to wipe away her tears.

After whimpering for a while, the Shadowless Beast started punching and kicking Cheng Huaijin again. Whether it was because Cheng Huaijin's physical abilities had improved and made him more resilient, or because the Shadowless Beast's physical strength was simply too weak, Cheng Huaijin felt that the force was like a tickle.

After a while, the Shadowless Beast sighed and sat on Cheng Huaijin's shoulder: "Close your eyes! Human!"

It flew right in front of Cheng Huaijin: "Don't peek!"

Exhausted by its antics, Cheng Huaijin raised both hands and assured it, "I absolutely won't watch! You do it!"

The Shadowless Beast grumbled incessantly, "What a terrible curse this is! Damn it! All the energy I finally accumulated is gone again..."

Cheng Huaijin was almost asleep with her eyes closed when she suddenly felt someone pat her forehead.

"You're actually falling asleep?" Upon opening his eyes, Cheng Huaijin saw the incredulous expression on Wuying Beast's face. He scratched his head sheepishly. "I've been a bit busy these past few days, a little tired, haha."

The Shadowless Beast shoved Cheng Huaijin in the back angrily: "Get out of here! You rude human!"

Cheng Huaijin had no choice but to leave, saying as she went, "That's really delicious, remember to eat it!"

The Shadowless Beast shut Cheng Huaijin out the door and plopped down on the sofa. However, in its true form, it was far too small; the sofa cushions didn't budge, offering no springy feel whatsoever!

Waaaaah! This curse consumes too much energy; I'm afraid the Shadowless Beast won't be able to take human form for a long time.

It got so angry that it rolled around on the sofa and accidentally bumped into a bag.

Is this the gift humanity has brought us?! Damn it! I'll see what's inside!

The Shadowless Beast angrily burrowed into the bag, its two eyes wide open.

Fig-flavored cookies, fig-flavored bread, fig-flavored candy... everything is fig-flavored! How did this human know I like figs?

It must have been that little brat Wu Yutao who said it!

Hmph! Humans!

The Shadowless Beast thought angrily as it tore open the snack bag.

On the other hand, since no one was there to help Cheng Huaijin teleport this time, she had to walk to Li Cai's office on her own.

Where exactly is the Shadowless Beast's office...? Cheng Huaijin wandered around, feeling like he was going in circles.

She summoned the Black Egg Beast: "Little Black, could you go and ask Fang Wuhen for me? I feel like he doesn't like me much right now. Could you ask him how we can get out of here... Ah!"

The Shadowless Beast suddenly appeared in front of Cheng Huaijin, startling even the Black Egg Beast.

"Hmph! Black Egg Beast." The Shadowless Beast narrowed its eyes upon seeing the Black Egg Beast, its eyes emitting a faint blue light. "You're quite lucky!"

Cheng Huaijin looked completely innocent: "Huh?"

The Shadowless Beast tossed Cheng Huaijin a black crystal, from which a silver chain threaded through the top. It was a necklace.

"Put it on properly. If the dragon egg moves strangely, or if it's discovered, bring the black crystal close to it. The black crystal will enhance the effect of isolating the dragon egg's energy, but it has a limited number of uses. Once the black crystal loses its color, it's useless. And don't come looking for me when it's gone! I can't squeeze out a second one!"
