Chapter 68 Mechanical City

Before Cheng Huaijin could decide where to run, the ground suddenly began to shake, and a huge crack split open from the middle, quickly spreading to both sides.

Oh no! The floor of this floor is going to crack and throw everyone off the 18th floor!

Cheng Huaijin quickly summoned Chao Huan: "Quick, bring out the powered exoskeleton!"

Cheng Huaijin saw this powered exoskeleton while shopping. Its perfectly streamlined design and state-of-the-art propulsion system allow users to transition from two-dimensional to three-dimensional motion, adjusting their posture in mid-air via a control device for rapid forward movement. According to the salesperson, it can maintain 480 hours of high-intensity operation, making it the perfect choice for outdoor adventures.

Cheng Huaijin didn't buy this for the sake of adventure; she was simply excited by the high-tech equipment and thought that since Chaohuan didn't have the ability to fly, she could use the exoskeleton to escape quickly if she encountered any danger outside. So she spent a fortune to buy this exoskeleton.

Unexpectedly, this thing has come in handy now!

"Huanhuan!" Chaohuan nodded and took out a small, thin metal card from the spatial storage device.

Cheng Huaijin attached the card to her lower back, unlocking the powered exoskeleton. Memory metal extended outwards from the card, forming various complex mechanical joints of different sizes around Cheng Huaijin's back, waist, thighs, and ankles. Four powered thrusters were installed on her palms and the soles of her shoes. Although the round, dynamic thrusters looked small, they contained powerful energy, which could be used not only for escape but also for attack.

Cheng Huaijin: I feel like I've transformed into a futuristic police officer.

"Huanhuan." Chaohuan jumped onto Cheng Huaijin's head, only to be pulled off by Cheng Huaijin.

"No, the target above us is too big and too dangerous. You need to mark it first, and I'll let you out when it's safe."

"Huanhuan!" Super Huan disagreed. It said that the mechanical voice had strange energy and was very dangerous. It could not allow the little human to be in such danger.

Cheng Huaijin patted Chao Huan's head: "Stop fooling around. Look at my equipment, it's fine. I'll find a place to hide first."

Chao Huan stubbornly refused to go back, only staring silently at Cheng Huaijin with her big eyes.

Cheng Huaijin had no choice but to have Chaohuan take out the baby bag she had bought at the Pet Supermarket, put it on her back, and then let Chaohuan sit in her arms: "Sit still!"

With a "whoosh," Cheng Huaijin and Chao Huan disappeared without a trace amidst the wailing crowd.

The rest of the people weren't as lucky as Cheng Huaijin. Apart from a lucky few who had contracted flying-type pets, most of them tragically fell to the ground below.

Just then, a large net appeared downstairs, catching all the people who had fallen.

The scene quickly descended into chaos.

Many of those caught in the net were beast tamers, and they all summoned their pets, creating a scene of utter chaos.

Amidst the chaos, a mechanical probe emerged from a corner and stealthily began releasing hypnotic gas.

"Oh no! It's sleeping gas! Hold your breath!"

"Damn it, where's my face shield?!"

"Ouch! Don't push me!"

Is it that these people have lived in a safe environment for too long, or that they simply didn't realize how dangerous the situation was?

Over-reliance on the abilities of their pets seems to have made them forget that as beast tamers, their own physical abilities are also formidable. Summoning pets without a plan only exacerbates the chaos.

A mechanical voice boomed in my ears: "I advise you to stay put."

Some of the beast tamers, regaining their senses, were furious: "Who are you? How dare you impersonate someone from Mechanical City? Do you know who I am?! Let us down right now!"

The mechanical voice gave a stiff laugh: "Haha. Okay, I'll put you down."

The blond beast tamer who was the first to speak up was picked up by a mechanical beast shaped like an eagle, and tossed downstairs with a flick of his head.

In a panic, the blond beast tamer summoned his pet, but the poor silver-white ice crystal butterfly was pierced by a laser gun before it could even unleash its skill, and fell to the ground like a rag doll.

Wow, that's fast!

A moment of silence fell over everyone; the sheer power of the machine filled them with dread.

Upon closer inspection, it becomes clear that almost all the "champions" present were young girls and boys, and all of them were amateur champions.

In other words, these people were selected based on their abilities. They have some skill, but they are not particularly formidable.

The blond beast tamer's pet died tragically, and he suffered a backlash, spitting out a mouthful of blood in mid-air.

The mechanical voice remained calm, yet it conveyed a hint of satisfaction: "I am unwilling to damage the experimental subjects prematurely, but if you continue to misbehave, then the premature deaths of a few are inevitable."

The blond beast tamer was thrown from a height of dozens of stories. Because he was a beast tamer, he was strong and didn't die, but his bones were broken all over his body. His mouth was full of blood and foam as he glared at the mechanical beast in the sky, thinking about how he would torture these machines that didn't even have life in the future... Suddenly, a big foot came down and stepped on him squarely.

No meat flew out; instead, a lot of blood flowed from that giant mechanical foot.

The big foot lifted up, revealing the meat pie beneath it.

Fang Juexia stared in horror at the corpse before him, his body trembling uncontrollably.

Ugh!! Why did I have to come to this awful place?!

Fang Juexia was truly on the verge of tears; she felt like slapping herself twice!

Why did she have to come and watch the new mechanical beasts?! These "champions" were all instantly defeated. How could she, a little kid who just started junior high, possibly be a match for them?
