On the sightseeing elevator, Cheng Huaijin and V03 stood together, looking down at the scenery flashing by outside the window and the screaming humans.
Cheng Huaijin couldn't help but ask, "What do you want to do by arresting these people?"
Chao Huan sat on Cheng Huaijin's shoulder, snuggling close to him, her big eyes full of vigilance.
V03 smiled kindly, and despite having a horse's head, his expression surprisingly had a human quality: "Miss Cheng, please don't worry, we mean no harm. We're just doing some things that humans did to us before, and we'd like to ask these humans to conduct some experiments."
The stinging pain in Cheng Huaijin's wound had spread, but she could still bear it: "Human experimentation? Experiments specifically targeting elite teenagers?"
V03 smiled and said, "Please don't be nervous, Miss Cheng. You can discuss the rest with 01 yourself."
Cheng Huaijin could no longer maintain her composure. She said expressionlessly, "You keep saying '01,' but I have no idea who 01 is."
V03's mane reflected a smooth sheen under the light, looking very soft to the touch: "01 was the first machine beast, the predecessor of all machine beasts."
Just then, the elevator arrived.
The metal door opened, and Cheng Huaijin glanced at it; it was the 101st floor.
As Cheng Huaijin walked in, he found it to be a super-large, single-level apartment with a very pleasant lifestyle, unlike what he had imagined.
Putting aside the refreshing pastoral color scheme, the vast expanse of greenery makes it seem like no mechanical beast stronghold at all.
“Your Number 01 seems to really like flowers,” Cheng Huaijin said to Number V03, gently touching a lily still glistening with dew.
V03 grinned and said, "Everyone has a love for beauty."
Cheng Huaijin recalled their horrific methods against humans and remained noncommittal.
"Miss Cheng, please come in." V03 pushed open a wooden door, and a surge of energy rushed out, causing Super Phantom to stand up abruptly, his hair standing on end.
Cheng Huaijin was more sensitive to elements and energy than ordinary beast tamers, but for some reason, this time, more than the suppression of power, she felt a restless urge in her heart.
To eat it, to want to consume that energy.
Cheng Huaijin was startled, suddenly realizing that the needle that seemed to have been stuck in his bone had suddenly disappeared.
Could it be...?
“Miss Cheng?” v03 interrupted her thoughts.
Without further hesitation, Cheng Huaijin stepped through the wooden door.
The door closed, and Chao Huan jumped onto Cheng Huaijin's head, looking around warily.
"Huanhuan." A calm, mechanical voice rang out, surprisingly, it was Chaohuan's voice.
"Huanhuan!" The fur on Chaohuan's ears stood up! Its eyes widened, and there were faint water element fluctuations around its body.
"Hahaha," a soft laugh came from behind. Cheng Huaijin looked in the direction of the laughter and saw only a small handheld game console standing on the table.
It was a silver-gray handheld console with a screen about the size of an adult man's palm, displaying a pixelated male face that looked comical.
And it was that face that uttered the most terrifying sentence Cheng Huaijin had heard since arriving in this strange world: "Miss Cheng, are you adjusting well here?"
Cheng Huaijin froze, a chill running from her toes to her head. She forced a smile: "It's all machines here, of course I'm not used to it."
What is this machine? Does it know the secret of her time travel?
Regardless, Cheng Huaijin wouldn't let it lead him by the nose: "What do you want from me? What do you want to do to the people outside? And this Mechanical City, is it really a Mechanical City?"
Number 01 smiled and said, "Miss Cheng, don't be impatient. I will answer all your questions." He winked playfully, making Cheng Huaijin feel uncomfortable.
Why is this machine so greasy?
"Miss Cheng, you know about mechanical beasts, right?"
Cheng Huaijin found a chair and sat down, holding Chaohuan in his arms: "I know."
Number 01 continued, "Mechanical beasts, what a magnificent invention!" His tone was impassioned and full of emotion. "The most loyal tools that never feel pain or betray you, none other than mechanical beasts! The peerlessly intelligent Lady Astaria Rose, the great inventor of mechanical beasts, but is that really the case?"
Cheng Huaijin took a deep breath: "That's how it's written in the book, is there a problem?"
Number 01's expression seemed mocking: "Is what's written in the books always correct? Miss Cheng, history is always written by the victors. Did you think so in your previous world as well?"
Cheng Huaijin was certain that the robot knew her secret, but how did it know? Could it be that her time travel wasn't accidental, but inevitable?!
Number 01 stirred Cheng Huaijin's unease, but then changed the subject: "Mechanical beasts, a power system completely contrary to that of pet beasts, were actually created by one person? How is that possible! Astaria Rose, the biggest liar of this century!"
Cheng Huaijin admired Ms. Astaria, but she didn't want to offend the crazy robot in front of her when the situation was unclear: "I don't understand. What do you want to do? What do you want me to do?"
Number 01 displayed his standard smile on the screen: "Ms. Cheng, don't worry. I'm sure V03 already explained the situation to you before you arrived. I mean no harm to anyone; I just need everyone's cooperation for an experiment."
A headless robot walked over and lifted the handheld console on the table, placing it on its empty head. The bottom of the console fit perfectly into the base, and only then did Number 01 have a "body" and be able to move.
He pressed a button, and the metal wall on the right slowly opened. Cheng Huaijin looked over and was shocked to see countless experimental pods.
Each cabin contains a pet beast and a mechanical beast that looks very similar.
"Create mechanical beasts?" Number 01 said sarcastically. "How could she possibly do that? Creation! Only a god could do that. She's nothing but a fraud!!"
"All she did was perform a transplant!!"
