“That makes sense!”
"Yeah yeah!"
The giant chief brought Ji Yongxing back to his tribe and introduced him and his theories to his people.
Although the giants' brains did not seem to be very smart, they still had basic logic. After hearing Ji Yongxing's theory, they tried to review it in their minds, and finally agreed that what he said was the real truth.
In addition, the giants had never seen such a small creature that could fly before, so they all had a little more awe towards Ji Yongxing.
Gradually, the title of "Great Prophet" began to be spread among people, but the accents of the giants were so strange that Ji Yongxing had to think for a long time before he figured out what "Vida's nephew" meant.
So the chief once again carefully prepared the necessities for the chase, and told his people to dig a hole large enough for the sun in advance. Then he took the giants' prophet and began to run all the way to the east, attempting to have a battle with the proud sun.
The prophet's method was indeed ingenious. After precise calculations by the giant chief, he would have an opportunity to capture the sun every less than a day. It didn't matter if he missed it once. As long as he continued to move eastward, he could ambush the sun in the next place.
However, the giant chief failed several times in a row, and his rope always seemed to be lower than the sun, even though he had tried his best.
The same went for Ji Yongxing. He even thought about helping the giant bring the rope into the sky and put it on the sun, but he found that there seemed to be some upper limit to his flying altitude and he could not do it as he imagined.
So the two of them headed east, trying again and again to catch the sun, and finally one day, their journey came to an end.
Not because the sun was captured, but because -
There is no way.
Looking at the endless blue sea in front of him, Ji Yongxing confirmed for the third time:
"Seriously, you really can't swim?"
"No, even giants don't know this."
The young giant lowered his head hesitantly, his two big eyes looking at something unknown.
"What can I do?"
The two of them had the same doubts.
After thinking for a moment, Ji Yongxing suggested:
"Why don't we just stay here and throw the rope once a day when the sun passes by?"
Upon hearing this, the giant looked at Ji Yongxing as if he were a fool and said:
"How is that possible? The sun isn't stupid. If we lie in ambush here every day, it will definitely take a detour."
"That's true..."
The two, one big and one small, fell into silence again. After an unknown amount of time, they suddenly heard the pleasant sound of birds singing beside their ears.
Ji Yongxing looked in the direction of the sound and saw a small bird with a colorful head, white beak and red claws flying from a distance with a stone in its mouth, and then threw the small stone into the sea.
He was stunned for a moment, and suddenly said loudly:
"Crow, you don't need coins to drink the water here!"
"You are the crow, your whole family are crows!"
The strange bird was flying well, but when it heard Ji Yongxing's words, it instantly changed direction. It flew towards this side while retorting with a strange voice, and then kept tapping Ji Yongxing's forehead with its white beak.
"You are not a crow, why are you carrying stones in your mouth? As far as I remember, only crows drink water like this."
Hearing this, the colorful bird stopped moving. It circled twice and landed on Ji Yongxing's shoulder. Then, it told his past in a sad tone. It was a story of a drowned girl's revenge on the sea...
"Oooooh, how pitiful! Oooooh!"
The colorful bird was so exhausted from telling the story, but the young giant was so moved that his tears flowed like streams into the sea.
"Hey hey hey you guy!"
The colorful bird used its beak to hit the giant who was countless times bigger than itself.
"Stop crying, you bastard. If you let so many tears flow into the sea, my work these past two days will be in vain!"
The giant also realized something, but he couldn't stop his tears from flowing for a while, so he simply dug a big hole in the ground and drew a river with his fingers to drain his tears. Only then did the bird become less irritable.
After a while, the bird moistened its throat with the non-salty stream water, and the giant had vented his rich emotions. The giant, the prophet and the bird sat together again, thinking about how to realize their respective ideals.
Ji Yongxing looked at the giant who could not swim and needed a road, and then at the little bird who hoped to fill up the sea by his own strength. He always felt that there must be a way to reconcile the goals of both parties and let them each get what they wanted.
Suddenly, Ji Yongxing heard shouting from below him. The giant and the bird also looked down, and saw an old man of about the same size as Ji Yongxing standing next to the giant. He was holding the carrying pole on his shoulder with one hand and tapping the giant's toes with the other hand.
He shouted upwards:
"My dear, please make way for me. I want to dump these two baskets of earth and rocks into the sea!"
The giant quickly moved his feet away, allowing the old man to avoid taking a detour of at least several miles.
When the old man finished pouring the earth and rocks, Ji Yongxing saw that the eyes of the bird hovering beside him were full of color. He suddenly felt a brilliant idea flash through his mind, so he descended from the air to the old man and asked:
"May I ask what you are doing?"
The old man rested his feet by the lagoon, fanning himself with his straw hat and answered:
"That's a long story..."
"You can pick out the key points."
"Not long ago, two huge mountains appeared in front of my house for no apparent reason, and they are getting higher day by day."
Although the old man's tone was calm, it seemed to be filled with some helplessness.
"If this continues, the crops in the fields will not be able to get sunlight, so I decided to move the two mountains with my children and grandchildren, break them into soil and rocks and throw them into the sea..."
When Ji Yongxing heard the sound getting higher day by day, he realized something. He looked at the young giant, but found that the other party had guiltily moved his eyes away, as if he was looking at the other side of the sea and was not listening to what was happening here at all.
"It doesn't matter if I die. I still have a son, and my son has a son. Generation after generation, there will always be a day when the move is complete..."
Ji Yongxing felt that he had found the last piece of the puzzle. He stood among the three people as an outsider, his eyes swept over the giant, the old man and the bird, and finally he smiled with understanding.
He looked at the giant:
“You need a runway that’s above the ocean.”
He looked at the old man:
"You might need some capable hands."
He looked at the bird:
"Have you ever heard of land reclamation?"
