In the next few days, Lin Qingliu's small clinic began to have a few customers.
But unfortunately, these people were either too poor or too smart. In short, they were not Lin Qingliu’s target users, resulting in the baptism package not being sold once.
Talent is unsalable, help Kami!
To be honest, baptism is not necessary for the blessing ceremony, but Lin Qingliu always has to find a way for himself, the god, to save face.
If I give you super powers if you don't accept baptism, wouldn't that make me, a god, look like a bootlicker?
Furthermore, what if that person is a genuine atheist and starts to spread his own greatness everywhere?
His own strength would be wasted, and even if he could clear his memory and take back the path, it would still be a waste of time.
So, in the final analysis, baptism has a bit of the flavor of an obedience test.
The so-called crystallization and purification are actually nothing more than this.
Lin Qingliu was not very anxious about this. After all, it took time for leeks to grow. He could only hope that the next leek would be even more amazing while constantly experimenting and developing his own abilities.
The unexpected happened soon.
One midnight a few days later, Lin Qingliu, who had already started to rest, could not resist the temptation of hunger, nor did he intend to block out this feeling. Instead, he got up and prepared to fry another meat pie to reward himself.
Anyway, now that I have the ability of the flesh and blood path, I don’t have to worry about gaining weight.
Just as he took the zombie meat out of the refrigerator and started preheating the frying pan, he suddenly heard two gunshots on the street outside.
The sound of gunfire broke the silence of the night, causing Lin Qingliu, a rookie who had never touched a gun, to pause for a moment.
Afterwards, the melon-eating gene in his blood began to take effect. Lin Qingliu turned the pot to low heat, turned on his enhanced senses and listened carefully to the sounds outside.
Although the management of Hope City is relatively strict, the outer city areas always have some special channels of their own.
Therefore, although guns are not extremely common, there are ways to obtain them.
The inner city area should turn a blind eye to these things and relax the policy, but not completely.
So, not surprisingly, only pistols were available in the outer city areas.
Traditional handguns made in the traditional way can be purchased on several black markets, and if you pay enough, some guys can even get the real thing with the serial number removed.
These guns are not expensive, it's just that the price of the bullets is surprisingly high.
After being in this world for a week, Lin Qingliu had heard the sound of gunfire two or three times. However, due to his ability of the [Flesh and Blood] path, he did not pay too much attention to the danger in this regard.
But something seems wrong today. Although the gunshots did not sound again, the noisy and chaotic footsteps seemed to be getting closer and closer to my house...
"Don't?"
Lin Qingliu, the living person, thought to himself that something was wrong and hurried out of the kitchen and ran downstairs.
While he was still on the stairs, he heard the sound of a door opening. Lin Qingliu looked down and saw a boy about twelve or thirteen years old quietly closing the door on the first floor, holding two thin wires made of bent paper clips in his hands.
This is a master.
The boy's face and body were covered in blood, and it was unclear whether they were from someone else or himself.
He looked dusty and dirty, and after a closer look Lin Qingliu could tell that his hair was a dull gray.
After closing the door, the boy gently put his ear against the door. There was no light on the first floor at this time, and his body was well hidden in the shadows.
"Cough~"
Lin Qingliu coughed lightly, then walked down the stairs slowly as if he was used to it.
The young man was so frightened that he almost jumped up from the ground. He turned around and looked at the young man who was seven or eight years older than him, his face full of pleading but he didn't say a word.
"Da da da."
The footsteps were getting closer, but the two of them didn't move in the awkward and strange silence.
“Bang, bang, bang.”
There was a rapid knock on the door, followed by a man's rude shout:
"Open the door, open the door quickly! Is everyone dead?"
Lin Qingliu ignored the gray-haired boy and walked to the wall to turn on the light. He said a few perfunctory words in a tone of agreement and opened the door.
The young man turned and went to the registration counter of the clinic, revealing a pair of eyes full of fear in the shadows.
“Click.”
As soon as Lin Qingliu unscrewed the mechanical door lock, a black gun barrel was pressed against his forehead.
Lin Qingliu's expression instantly turned into sweat. He backed away while welcoming the two men with fierce looks into the door.
"Where did you hide the brat?"
The man with the gun stared at Lin Qingliu and asked, while the other guy with the knife had already started to look around.
“No.”
Lin Qingliu rolled his eyes upwards, appearing quite disdainful.
"Who the hell are you, pretending?"
The man with the gun was furious, and pressed the barrel of the gun directly against Lin Qingliu's forehead.
"Third brother, search carefully!"
"Okay."
The man with the knife pushed Lin Qingliu aside and walked deeper into the clinic, while the man with the gun turned his gaze back again:
"You're looking for death, you're wasting another bullet of mine."
He pulled the trigger without hesitation.
"Bang!"
The scene the man had imagined did not happen. There was no blood gushing out, no brain matter splattering, not even the dull sound of a body falling down. There was only a sigh:
"I gave you a chance but you didn't use it."
Lin Qingliu seemed not to notice the stunned man in front of him. He stretched out his hand and tapped his forehead a few times. Using two fingers together, he pinched out a copper bullet that was already somewhat deformed.
