Some orcs even started their night watch a day in advance, just to get a front-row spot.
The temple was completely surrounded by people, both inside and out.
The beastmen of Beast City are struggling to maintain order.
Beside the magnificent temple, there is a tall, open-air, and grand altar!
It was built at the highest point of the sacred mountain and is known as the place closest to the gods.
The priests climbed the cloud ladder to the altar to pray to the heavens and to the beast god.
The orcs discussed excitedly, "This priestly competition is definitely extraordinary."
“That’s right. In the past, the High Priest never participated in the High Priest Competition. This time, even the High Priest participated.”
"I have a feeling that as long as the High Priest is here, we will definitely see the Beast God!"
The orcs were getting emotional, but some other orcs poured cold water on their emotions.
"Have you heard? That annoying female Jin Yao is going to participate too."
"How is she even qualified to participate in the priesthood competition? She's a wicked female, how dare she face the altar?"
"It's all because she has good adoptive parents. I really don't understand what the Golden Dragon Tribe is thinking. They don't cherish the wise Si Yan, but instead dote on a bad female."
"Hopefully she draws a lot early. She absolutely mustn't end up picking up the High Priest's leftovers."
Amidst the discussions of the orcs, a tiger-orc stepped onto the stage and announced, "Today is the Priestly Competition. The drawing of lots for the Priestly Competition will now begin!"
The order in which priests take the stage is determined by drawing lots during the priestly competition.
Behind Si Yan, Tyson whispered, "Si Yan, the best draws are usually the first and the last. The first one to go up to the altar is said to receive encouragement from the Beast God and have an easier time than others. The last one is often the most dazzling and grand finale."
Si Yan smiled and said, "It takes a lot of luck to draw the first or last one. But as long as you are good enough, it doesn't matter which number you draw."
One orc after another pulled out the branches.
Bai Feng had just finished drawing his flower petals when he took out his tree branch and counted seven small twigs on it.
The white tiger beastman said, "High Priest, the order of ascending the altar is seven!"
The orcs cheered. "High Priest! High Priest! High Priest!"
After the cheers, the beastmen began to discuss among themselves.
"High Priest Bai Feng is the seventh to appear."
Who do you think will be the last to perform?
"I think anyone will do, as long as it's not Jin Yao!"
"Exactly! If High Priest Bai Feng summons the Beast God, wouldn't the last person just reap the benefits? That's incredibly frustrating."
Next, it was the turn of the Beast City. The Beast City pulled out a branch, counted it, and found it was a single branch.
The white tiger beastman said, "The order in which the priests of Ten Thousand Beasts City ascend the altar is one."
After the order of the Beast City was announced, the orcs below cheered!
"City of Beasts! City of Beasts! City of Beasts!!!"
Being the first to appear is a very good position.
Next, the Water City, Imperial City, White Tiger City, and Mermaid City were all drawn.
They were the second, third, fourth, and fifth to appear, respectively.
Only Si Yan and Jin Yao haven't drawn their lots yet. The remaining draw order is sixth and eighth.
And eighth place is a good spot to be the grand finale. It's also the best spot.
The white tiger beastman handed the signature to Si Yan.
Just as Si Yan was about to draw her card, Jin Yao said, "Is the City of Ten Thousand Beasts pulling some strings? Are they letting Si Yan draw first so they can give her the spot to go last?"
Jin Yao is skilled in using sarcastic or unsettling language.
The white tiger orc frowned slightly. "Countless wise men have proven that the lottery is fair. Whether it is you or Priestess Si Yan, the probability of drawing eighth place is equal."
Jin Yao looked disdainful. "Everyone knows you've all been bewitched by Si Yan. Who dares to prove you won't pull any stunts behind the scenes?"
Si Yan suddenly withdrew her hand and said, "If I draw eighth, you'll say I rigged it. My stage number will be illegitimate. But if I draw sixth, then you'll get eighth. Tsk, you won't lose out no matter which way I draw."
Jin Yao glared at Si Yan with displeasure, her eyes filled with resentment.
It's all her fault. Ever since she appeared, everything has gone wrong for her.
Si Yan suddenly leaned close to Jin Yao's ear and asked, "Do you think you can summon the Beast God?"
Jin Yao said venomously, "You're not trying to provoke me. Si Yan, let me tell you the truth. The Beast God is dead."
Si Yan seemed to have heard a joke, and she couldn't help but laugh out loud.
"Who told you such a funny joke?"
Jin Yao: "You don't believe me, do you? No one has been able to summon the Beast God for so many years, and it certainly won't happen today either!"
Si Yan: "Shall we make a bet?"
Jin Yao: "A bet? What do you want to bet on?"
Si Yan smiled and said, "Let's bet on whether we can summon the Beast God today."
